This is a very interesting discussion. I'm still waiting for my test from enterolab to prove I have this. When I was a baby and my first teeth came in they were missing their enamel backs. My mother took me to the dentist to get them filled in. Aside from some fillings and a root canal I haven't done to bad but I can see where they are clear and the enamel...

ARCHIVED Just Dropped In To Say Hi;
kalo replied to cybergran10's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome to Judy. I am currently waiting for test results from enterolabs to comfirm that I have this. My health history goes back to birth and I was 55 last Thursday. I have a diagnosis of chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia/sinus/allergy/low thyroid and IBS. All of those may have been from undiagnosed celiac disease. Don't know about the rest of my family but I... -
ARCHIVED Irish Heritage And Celiac's
kalo replied to Queen Serenity's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know I have Irish/Norwegian on my mothers side. My fathers side has several things but I never remember what they are. Would have to ask my daughter who is into family history. My father had chron's disease but I think he may have had this and we didn't know about it. However, my grandfather on my mothers side had colon cancer. Hugs, Carol B (who is waiting... -

Thanks Molly. I love mac and cheese with hot dogs. I use Shelton free range hot dogs with no preservitives. Will have to add this to it when I find some. May check the Whole Foods Market on Monday when I'm out of town and see if they carry it. Hugs, Carol B

Hi Leslie. Welcome to the group. I wanted to say that I understand about wanting to have celiac disease. I have a 7 page health history which begins at birth and I was 55 on Thursday. After a diagnosis of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, low thyroid/low adrenal, IBS, and sinus/allergy and still not well it would be SUCH A RELIEF. Keep us posted. My blood test...

ARCHIVED Intermittant Symptoms?
kalo replied to grey144's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Kate. I've just been learning about this for under a month. Everything I've read leads me to believe you SHOULD get tested for it. All your symptoms point towards celiac disease. I don't know about intermittent but my doctor did ask me if I ever had times where I felt better. The answer was yes, although very rare. That was before he mentioned he thought... -
ARCHIVED Supplements Question
kalo replied to lisa922's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have aloe vera in my frige. Need to remember to add it to my smoothies. When I first got this bottle I was down sick with something and not sure what caused it (my IBS was acting up) so I didn't take it and then forgot. Thanks for reminding me. Hugs, Carol B -
Hi Nita. I can tell you that Enterolabs recommends getting testing once a year to see how you are doing. Probably wouldn't need the full panel like I'm getting. Just a thought. Hugs, Carol B (who wishes the weather would settle down and quit changing. That really causes problems for me)

Hi Nita. I also had a grandfather with colon cancer. All very interesting. I still don't have the energy level of a normal person and it's been 3 weeks. My main doctor told me the other day that he's had kids whose symptoms disappeared drastically in a few weeks. then he had a women in her 50's who took 5-6 months to see improvements. I'm also on antivirals...

ARCHIVED How Do You Deal With Being Angry?
kalo replied to lisa922's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Do you know about enterolab? It is a non invasive stool test that is much more reliable than the blood test. Kind of expensive but worth it. Hugs, Carol B (who's waiting for her results from them) -

ARCHIVED Why to be careful with Lotions, makeup, shampoos etc.
kalo replied to kalo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'd like to just throw this out. I went to my main doctor today and he told me that he has several families dealing with celiac disease. They all found out about wheat in skin care products, shampoo etc but when they used them they have had NO symptoms. So he didn't think it was that important. He also said that it can absorb through the skin but so far none... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab

It makes A LOT of sence. If my test comes back positive I will have a GOOD cry and then give a testimony in church how that after 55 years of searching I FINALLY have an answer. :-) hugs, Carol B -
I just wanted to congratulate you on your new engagement. I pray it all works out for you. Don't know where you live but I was reading on the whole foods store website and they are making a gluten baking only facility somewhere. Might check into it. Hugs, Carol B (married 32&1/2 years)

ARCHIVED Why to be careful with Lotions, makeup, shampoos etc.
kalo replied to kalo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for all the replies. WOW! is all I can say. We have a home based business which we haven't been involved in due to my being so sick over the years. We carry things like shampoo, make up etc. among many other things. Was hoping to get back involved when I got well. Guess I'll have to check and see what the ingredients are. I definately don't want to... -
Hi Nita. Sounds like things are going positive for you. That's WONDERFUL. My health history goes back to birth and when my mother gave up trying to find answers for me I took over the job. That was when I left home at 18. 20 years ago when we moved and I AGAIN got worse I gave up on doctors (but not on prayer) and took matters into my own hands. I have read...

Thanks Dana. It will be interesting to see what all happens. I'm really interested in what to do with my thyroid medication which has done VERY LITTLE for me. Among the top 20 diagnosis before a diagnosis of celiac disease listed by the Mayo Clinic, I have 5 of them. Hugs, Carol B

ARCHIVED Will Fasting Skew Blood Test Results?
kalo replied to Chantalle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Chantelle. You need to be on gluten for the blood test but not for the stool test at enterolabs. I don't think it matters anyways as many people test negative with a blood test due the it still being in the intestines and not in the blood. A negative test does NOT mean you don't have it. You could try the stool test from enterolabs or stay gluten-free... -
ARCHIVED Enterolab
kalo replied to concernedlady's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I sent my stool lab to enterolabs last week. One gal told me it took 4 weeks to get the results. They have been so back logged lately due to more people requesting the test that I hope it doesn't take longer. Like you I want my answers NOW!!. It will come I'm sure. Hang in there. Hugs, Carol B -
I also wanted to mention that since I've been gluten-free I've lost another 5 lbs. I lost 40 lbs since being on Armour thyroid since last August. This is fine as I'm only 5'1" and had gotten up to 160. But now I'm just hoping it doesn't continue and I'm assuming the additional 5 has to do with being gluten-free. Maybe toxins leaving the body? My family says...

I'd also like to welcome Heather. And sorry about your mishap Nita. Hope you get over it fast. One thing I've noticed since being gluten-free (with some slip ups) is that my bowels are changing. Fot the better hopefully. I'm still waiting for the results from enterolab. Yesterday I went to my allergist 3 hours a way. I started with him at the beginning of...
