  1. Hi Vicki. I'm still looking for some of the things I origanally found. Check out this link including the link in this article to Mary Shommons about.com thyroid site. She talks about the link between celiac and hashis and the fact that if you treat your celiac your thyroid antibodies can go down and eleminate your thyroid problem. I assume the reverse is...
  2. Hi Vicki. When my doctor mentioned celiac to me I came home and started wearching the net. don't remember exactly where I found it but I'm sure I read it on a couple of sites. I'll go back and search and see if I can find it. then I will post it here. I found a lot of things I NEVER knew about celiac. Hugs, Carol B
  3. Is it possible he's to busy doing what he's doing to take the time for peer reviews? Treating thyroid with Armour is the same way. Doctors don't accept it. Or guaifenesin for Fibromyalgia. Dr. Paul R. St Amand hadn't been through the peer reviews either (he wrote the book on this treatment). However I was a part of a support group with many women who had...
  4. Hi Burdee. Good for you. I can tell you that after a lifetime of searching for answers I gave up on doctors about 20 years ago. I have since taken matters into my own hands and done lot's of searching. No one knows your body like you do and that's a fact. Good luck with your test results and your diet. I've been gluten free for almost a month now with no...
  5. Airborne express is over night I thought. Mine went out on a Wednesday and needed to be there by Thursday. It will be 3 weeks this comming Wednesday for me. they finally took my money out about a week ago so I know they have gotten to mine. But I'm ANXIOUSLY awaiting my results. Just like you! Patience is a virtue. I think I'm lacking it. LOL hugs, Carol...
  6. I just saw the post on WHY you need a formal diagnosis. So HOW does one do that if they have negative blood tests but a positive stool test from enterolabs and their doctors don't accept it? I won't have any problems since my doctor put me up to this in the first place. Just wondering about others and why doctors won't accept Enterolabs. He is a doctor (Dr...
  7. Forget the blood test. Do the stool test at enterolabs.com. Much more reliable and it doesn't matter that you have been gluten-free. Hugs, Carol B (anxiously awaiting her results from enterolab)
  8. That's interesting. I have read that those with a milk problem can go back to dairy once their intestines begin to heal. I don't know though if they meant lactose intolerance or milk allergy. Hugs, Carol B
  9. This has been some great info. One question I have. Is casien allergy a life long thing like celiac or can you out grow it? And will it also damage the intestines or just cause symptoms? Hugs, Carol B
  10. Hi Terri-Anne. It makes sence to me that you can get symptoms from somethings and not from others. Reason being is I keep reading that some people have NO symtpoms at all and still have it. I'm currently undergoing testing for it and have NEVER been able to blame my symptoms on what I just ate. My doctor suggested it on my last visit and I was suprised...
  11. Hi Vicki. I take it that going gluten-free hasn't helped your teeth any. Sorry to hear that. I too have hypothyroidism but adequate treatment with Armour as well as adrenal support with cortef hasn't done anything for me other than I lost 40 lbs which was good. That's why I'm interested in celiac. I'm waiting for my test results from Enterolabs, probably...
  12. There is a place on line that explains these tests. I know because I found it once. But don't ask me where. LOL I do know that CBC stands for complete blood count. Good luck with getting your answers. Hugs, Carol B
  13. When my doctor started me on this diet he gave me a sheet that listed dairy as a no no but yogurt and kefir as ok. I belong to a kefir group. Kefir is like yogurt only with more kinds of bacteria in it and we make it from live kefir grains. They say that it digests better than regular milk and many with problems to milk etc can handle fermented foods such...
  14. My girlfriend took me to whole foods when I was visiting and I thought I had died and gone to food heaven. LOL That was when I was just into whole foods cooking. Now that I might have celiac it's nice to know they have gluten-free foods. I was in there a week ago. I see that Molly is in San Mateo. I go to the one on Stevens Creek by De Anza college. Too bad...
  15. My doctor was the one who suggested this to me. He ordered a couple of blood tests (Iga and?) and told me that even if they were negative it didn't mean I didn't have it. Last week I went to my allergist whom I started with at the beginning of this year (3 hours a way). He knew about celiac disease and was able to order the entire blood panel (including Ttg...
  16. You answered my question. Thanks Richard. Hugs, Carol B
  17. So back to my original question. If it has understandable ingedients such as beef, potatoes, carrots, onion and celery salt (veggie soup) and nothing that would suggest an unkown, is it safe to eat or do we have to call the company on everything to make sure something is there that wasn't listed? Hugs, Carol B
  18. That brings up another question. Why do we need a doctors blessing or diagnosis if we know for sure through the stool test that is what we have? I know it's expensive but I keep hearing how reliable it is and to me that means everything. :-) Hugs, Carol B (just curious, not putting anyone down)
  19. Hi Susz. Do a search for Enterolabs or celiac testing. Enterolabs has a non invasive stool test that is MUCH MORE reliable than the blood tests are. What sort of diet are you on? Hugs, Carol B
  20. Is there a reason that the stool test from Enterolabs won't work for a young one. It sure would elminate the need for a biospy and is supposedly VERY RELIABLE. Hugs, Carol B
  21. Let me put it this way. Are we contacting companies to find out what that natural flavoring is or what that modified food starch is OR are we contacting them to see if there is something NOT listed on the label? In that case I guess I would need to contact them for EVERY thing under the sun except fresh meat (hopefully) and veggies/fruit. :-) Hugs, Carol...
  22. I was afraid of that. Will they list the unwanted ingredients in some form (maybe not recognizable) or is it possible they won't even bother to list them. i.e tuna, salt, water. Is it possible they put wheat in it but just didn't bother to list it on the can? Another wards, if I recognize ALL the ingredients as safe, do I need to worry about what WASN'T listed...
  23. I haven't got my results yet. That's just what I was told. Guess I better look at the calendar and mark 4 weeks. I sure wish it would come earlier though. I'm trying so hard to be a good girl (lots still to learn) but it would be easier knowing there was a reason I was doing this. :-) Congrat's on getting your results. Now you have your answer. Hugs, Carol
  24. Hi Richard. I understand about things like modified food starch, flavorings etc etc. But if you know what all the ingredients are and none contain gluten could there still be a problem with them not showing it on the label even under a different name? Does this make sence? Hugs, Carol B
  25. which leads me to a question. I've been reading labels. Do they put things in food and NOT list them? How terrible. Hugs, Carol B
