Hi Krisloner, You may want to check out this thread in another section in this site. It is under the Related Disorders and Research forum. There may be additional threads, but there are also some links to some other sites and references to books etc., that you may want to check out. As you will read from peoples comments in the site, there certainly...

It will get better!! I have noticed symptoms subsiding and it has been about 10 days. The first week was the worst, getting through the cravings, but now I am good. The D symptoms have cleared up, gassiness is gone (much to my delight!!..sometimes I run in a group and since I am the group leader I am in front. Now I don't have to worry...

I am through the worst of it...like the first time, the craving lasted about 1 week this time. I came home to fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (my husband makes great cookies) and had no interest in them....yeah!!! So, I have been a good 4 days or so now with no cravings and I am feeling more settled. Just getting back into the swing of what I need...

ARCHIVED No Diagnosis
healthygirl replied to skichikk18's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, I know this may sound simplistic, but if you feel better not eating gluten and have noticed such a huge improvement that is probably the best test of all. As you will read on the board here, many have had negative blood and biopsies, but feel so much better on a gluten free diet that they take it out of their diet. I know it can feel frustrating not... -
I have been looking forward to going gluten free again, but the cravings have hit!! The first time I went gluten free I remember having the cravings...I would wander the house, wondering "what can I eat that will fill me up!!". It took a week or so and then I felt so much better. The second time I went gluten free I didn't notice the cravings....this time...

I had my meeting today with the gastroenterologist. She was very nice and had all the relevant info from my doctor. Basically, she indicated that since I have been gluten free off and on for the past 8 months (the last 6 weeks have been on gluten, 5 weeks before that gluten free, 2 months before that on and then about 5 months gluten free before that)...

ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity Vs Celiacs
healthygirl replied to jasonD2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi JasonD2, Why did you get the testing done? Were you having symptoms? I went off gluten for about 2 months this summer (I was having periodic, not consistent, bouts of painful abdominal bloating, gassiness and pinned it down to gluten products) and I had to say during the time I was off it I didn't notice a huge difference with my symptoms. What I did... -
ARCHIVED Different Glutens, Different Responses?
healthygirl replied to cdog7's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi CDog7, I have noticed different reactions based on the type of food and am wondering if it is to do with the amount of gluten? I am assuming some foods will have more than others, or different types of wheat have a higher amount of gluten in it...when I eat pasta I don't have stomach pains, but I typically have a horrible sleep and am all lethargic the... -
List Of Symptoms That I've Noticed Have Disappeared.
healthygirl commented on healthygirl's blog entry in healthygirl's Blog
Ooh, I'm behind on keeping up with these comments. Not sure mine is DH either....I used to have "psoriasis" or "eczema" as a kid (never formally diagnosed, that is just what my parents called it) and got the cortisone creme for it, which always seemed to help. Horribly itchy, but not blistered. I just have very dry skin that tends... -
Thanks, yes that is the story is that I am waiting to get tested and would like for the results to be accurate...if gluten free when tested, results could be skewed. There are those who choose not to go the formal testing route, but I am one of those who wants to know conclusively, partly for me and partly to convince others in my family to get tested (they...

I am so glad I am keeping a food log. I have read of other people having this happen....it seemed like when I first reintroduced gluten I had symptoms that were more severe (stomach pains, bloating, burping, etc.), but it almost seems like after a couple of weeks, the symptoms are easing off and I am still on gluten. Here is the trick though. I have...

Things are moving more quickly than I thought they might. I just started glutening myself two days ago, and I got a call this morning on an appointment with the GI specialist. It is in 3 1/2 weeks and is a "consultation" so I am assuming will just be a review of my medical history, symptoms and previous testing to decide what to do next. However, I am...

So I decided to take the plunge and go back on gluten while waiting for the GI appointment. I was going out of town this weekend and figured this was a good time to fall off the wagon. Yesterday, breakfast glutens included a piece of toast, lunch glutens included fried sweet potatoes that had been dredged in flour and a little slice of carrot cake. This...

How To Get Better?
healthygirl commented on newby to celiac?'s blog entry in newby to celiac?'s Blog
Based on what I am reading in the discussion boards, when people start to feel better is uniqe to each person and may depend on how much damage has occured. I think everyone will tell you to persist with the diet. Also, cross contamination can be an issue if you have regular eaters in your household or if you eat out much. There is also hidden gluten in... -
List Of Symptoms That I've Noticed Have Disappeared.
healthygirl posted a blog entry in healthygirl's Blog
I am into about week 4 or 5 of gluten free again. I am still waiting to hear when my specialist appointment is and know that I might be doing the stupid thing by staying gluten free in the event they are going to biopsy. I keep telling myself "tomorrow I'll go back on", but then I just can't stand the thought of it, and dealing with the symptoms again.... -
ARCHIVED Playlist Ideas For Working Out
healthygirl replied to gfmolly's topic in Sports and Fitness
There are some awesome mash ups on the internet that you can find....some of my favorites are a mashup of Alicia Keys "You don't know my name" and Aerosmith "Sweet Emotions", ACDC's "Back in Black" and Queen's "We Will Rock You" and probably one of the most famous mashups called Ray of Gob (Madonna and the Sex Pistols). Probably my all time favorite, which... -

Are your doctors checking you for Hemochromotosis? It is an overload of Iron in the body. Here is a list of symptoms. chronic fatigue joint pain arthritis, especially of the knuckles of the first and second finger, and thumb a change in skin colour, either bronzing like a tan that never fades or a slate gray abdominal pain and distention menstrual... -
I love my carbs! I love toast, muffins, bagels with peanut butter and cereals (hot or cold). That is why I was so disappointment at my first venture into gluten free breads. Being new to the whole gluten free world I started off buying the frozen, pre-made loaves. The slices were all frozen together, so there I stood in my kitchen when I got home, chiselling...

Thanks, Mosaics. I can check into it with our insurance plan, but am pretty sure it will be a no go for coverage. I have heard lots of people refer to Enterolabs as well for Celiac panels...not sure if that is the lab you are quoting. At this point I think I am going to see how long my appointment is with a specialist and take it from there. I feel soooo...

Here is my story. I don't know if I am celiac but am in the midst of the process. Being in Canada with our "universal health care" system, it may be quite a long while before I get any diagnosis. I probably had symptoms eons ago, just never really realized they were symptoms. The first GI issues I really remember having was when I was pregnant. I...

healthygirl replied to Brattitude's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
What I found, and I think others have as well, is that when you go off the gluten free diet you feel so lousy with the return of symptoms , that you can't wait to go back to gluten free. There are so many great gluten free products out there, it is just a matter of sourcing the stores in your area that carry the products and figuring out which products you... -
ARCHIVED Teeth
healthygirl replied to jewi0008's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I have mild to moderate gingivitis despite brushing and flossing diligently and I have gums receding on a couple of teeth and that has really caused them to be sensitive. I have just recently switched to a gluten-free diet, so am hoping to see some improvement! Has anyone seen improvement to gum health that has been gluten-free for a while? -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Attention Deficit Disorder
healthygirl replied to healthygirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It's hard on the kids when people think they are just being lazy. With ADHD it isn't their fault...telling them to concentrate and focus is like telling someone who needs glasses to just look harder and they'll see. I have had teachers say to me they think my son is just being lazy and I am appalled to hear that coming from the individuals that are supposed... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Attention Deficit Disorder
healthygirl replied to healthygirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I knew about the cross-reactive component to apples and most pitted fruits (plums, peaches, cherries, etc.) but did not know that potatos, carrots and wheat were also involved...that is interesting. It is funny, as a baby when he moved on to solids I could never get him to eat the fruit which most babies seem to prefer. He will eat vegetables before fruit... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Attention Deficit Disorder

First day back at school and his teacher has already noticed a difference. (Mind you, this is only a couple of days in). He does have other allergies (severe allergy to nuts, carries epi-pen, as well as dust, grass, birch trees). He was breastfed until about 6 months, but would spit up constantly...must have been something I was eating...and when he came...
