ARCHIVED Body Wash And Lotion For Toddler
stolly replied to stolly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My DD also likes to blow bubbles in the bathtub, so she gets the soap on her lips and sometimes in her mouth by accident. Thank you to everyone for your suggestions! -
ARCHIVED Flubber With Elmer's Glue
stolly replied to stolly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks. So now I'm just wondering about the Borax. The alternate names for Borax are sodium borate, or sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate...it's a mineral and a salt of boric acid. I would think it's fine, but does anyone know for sure? -
ARCHIVED Flubber With Elmer's Glue
stolly posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter's preschool class plays with "Flubber," which I believe it made with Elmer's glue, Borax, water, and food coloring. Would that be safe for her...anything with gluten? Thanks! -
She's feeling much better today, but my husband had some GI issues last night, so I'm thinking maybe it was a stomach bug. Regardless of that, we're still trying to make sure we eliminate all gluten. I made gluten free playdoh for her preschool class and we've checked all her meds. I also switched her body wash and our hand soap to something gluten...

ARCHIVED Body Wash And Lotion For Toddler
stolly replied to stolly's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We've been using Target brand body wash/shampoo. I cntacted them about the prduct and their body lotion...this was their response: "Although the following Target brand items do not contain any gluten in any of the actual ingredients, the manufacturer does run gluten-containing products on the same equipment, so there is a risk of cross-contamination... -
Meline- Thanks for your reply. She did have an endoscopy that showed villi damage. No more vomiting, but DD has been having loose stools (yellow, putrid smelling) since Tuesday. She's eating/drinking intermittently (not tons, but that's usual for her) and no fever. Energy level is pretty good. Does this sound like a stomach bug or that she's been...

Any suggestions for how to make a cheddar chex mix with Health Valley Crumch Ems? Chedder chex mix was one of my DD's favorite snacks. Thanks!

DD 2.5 has been gluten free for about 10 days. She vomited 4 days ago (once, no other symptoms), but we attributed it to her methotrexate shot (for arthritis) b/c she got sick a few hours after that. Today at school she had a very large watery BM and then vomited 3 hours later. I figure this could be a stomach bug or that she somehow ingested some gluten...

I made gluten-free Goldfish crackers for my daughter but they were chewy, not crunchy at all. I used this recipe by Betty Hagman and Wendy Cannon (Open Original Shared Link ). I baked them on silcone baking sheets. I was hoping for a crunchy cracker...any suggestions? Should I use parchment paper instead? Should I use less butter, ricotta cheese, or sour...

ARCHIVED Sending Frozen Bread Into School?
stolly posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I ordered Kinnikinnick sandwich bread for my daughter, and it recommends microwaving or toasting before eating. I'm sending it into school for her (to eat with a hamburger, so I won't assemble the sandwich). Should I just let the frozen bread thaw in her cooler and ask school to microwave it, or should I microwave it in the morning and send it in ready... -
Do (undiagnosed) celiac women tend to have large babies, or does it vary greatly? We just found out DD2 has celiac, so I am going to be tested soon. I'm just curious b/c she was 6 lbs, 15 ounces, however my 4 month old son was a whopping 9 lbs, 12 ounces (tested negative for gestational diabetes). Everyone was shocked at how huge he was considering DD...

ARCHIVED Celiacs In Nj, Pa And Ny
stolly replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Taylor Pork Roll is made by Taylor Provisions in Trenton, NJ. I just spoke with Eric at Taylor Provisions (609-392-1113), which confirmed that they don't add any wheat, barley, rye, or oats when making their pork roll. He said they tell customers that the only potential wheat is from what the animal was fed, which I understand is not an issue, correct? -
DD2 isn't ptty trained yet. Which diaper creams are safe? A&D (clear ointment) or Desitin creamy? Thanks!

Just this afternoon when I click on a topic to read, only the original post/question comes up n the screen. Subsequent replies/posts for the topic are lumped together at the bottom of the screen and I can't read them unless I click on them individually. Can anyone help me fix this so that I can read all replies on one page? Thank you!

DD's (2.5) tTG and endomysial antibdies were positive, she has HLA-DQ2, and biopsy inconclusive, so we started the gluten free diet 5 days ago...and hopefully she will start feeling better and gaining! Her doctor hasn't made any recommendations, but I'd like my husband and I to be tested. Should I just ask my primary care physician to order the celiac...

We're having a bit of a rough start with the gluten free diet. Our 2.5 yr old daughter has been spitting out the new cereals and pastas, which is mainly what she used to eat. We've tried mac n cheese 3 ways, plus buttered noodles today, and she gags n them. Maybe is the texture she doesn't like? She doesn't like much of the packaged stuff, except pretzels...

ARCHIVED What Is The Normal Range For Endomysial Antibody?
stolly replied to stolly's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thank you ravenwoodglass. Her doctor actually suggested "loading her up with gluten" and repeating the biopsy as one option since he thinks the diet is so "restrictive," but we refused since trying the gluten free diet is not invasive/harmful, and will hopefully help her and confirm the diagnsis. Fortunately he also felt the gluten-free diet was an option... -
ARCHIVED What Is The Normal Range For Endomysial Antibody?
stolly posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just wondering about the normal range for endomysial antibody. My daughter's pedi GI doc said she was 1:80, and said she's low positive. Her tTG was also mildly elevated, but biopsy was inconclusive...showed villi damage, but not the usual increase of lymphocytes in the tissue...which could be skewed by the methotrexate she's on for arthritis. We started... -
ARCHIVED Perky O's Vs Glutino Cereal?
stolly posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Which do your children prefer? Perky O's or Glutino? My 2.5 yr old daughter spit out the Perky O's last night. Are the Glutino ones hard like the Perky O's? I'm guessing it was the texture she didn't like. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Glutino Products

Our Wegmans carries a lot of the Glutino products. What are your favorite and least favorite Glutino products? Thank you! -
ARCHIVED How To Educate My Daughter's Preschool?
stolly posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 2.5 yr old daughter just officially started the gluten free diet yesterday (blood pos, bx inconclusive, now looking to see if she responds to the diet). She goes to preschool/daycare 3 days per week, so I need to review the gluten free diet with them. They usually provide her food, but I figure now I'll send in most of her food, and perhaps let her eat... -
ARCHIVED Body Wash And Lotion For Toddler
stolly posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What body was and lotion do you use for your toddler? I'm hoping to find them at Target or CVS, but can order something online if needed. Thank you! -
What is a normal EMA? My daughter's EMA is 1:80, her doc said this is low positive, but I forgot to ask him the normal range. tTT is alsoo slightly positive. Thanks
