    I am a little reluctant to write this since a failure to follow through makes the failure 'public'. I've gone back & forth for a while on quitting the *!#^%$%^ smoking. Tho I don't feel as strongly about it at the moment, there was a stretch last night at the Lara&Laura show when I was adamantly positive that quitting MUST happen soon....

    Besides the more catastrophic scenarios, people who bought at the peak & have thought they were building equity are finding they still OWE more than the house is currently worth. Newspaper today said that, for the first time, there were more foreclosures than sales, in CA., in a single month.

    Grew up in Chicago but started visiting s.Cruz in '88 after <shudder> moving to Salinas from Tucson after college. Moved to SJ area 2 yrs later. I do remember pre-earthquake s.Cruz.
