  1. I haven't been around for a while however, I too read the article in the Fresno Bee and took my Celiac DD to the Doc that was talked about in the aritcle. (Paul Hanchett is our Doc too Dingo Girl, small world). Anyway, Dr. Judy Davis has the Bravo ph Monitor and did the test on her. It was so cool! I think all the Fresno and Fresno area people should...
  2. What type of pan do you use for baking? Non stick, glass? Everytime I bake a cake, especially white, they come out nice and brown around the edges but just about raw in the middle. I have checked the temp in my oven and it is correct. My daughter is getting married and I may be the one to bake the wedding cake, three tiers! I have found a baker in...
  3. EV, What do you mean by "die off" after taking Diflucan? Thanks! Z
  4. Dear Patty, My college daughter says she came out of the "Brain Fog" after she went gluten free and didn't realize what it was or that she was in it. It's only when she "gets glutened" that it returns. We found gluten in Tylenol white tablets, one type of dental floss and vitamins, only then did she clear up completely at the beginning of this journey...
  5. I purchased the toaster bags from Pampered Chef for my dorm living gluten-free child, worked out well. They wouldn't let her store a toaster in the cafe or have one in her dorm room so the bags were good. In the schools defense they did give her a key to the catering kitchen to use 24 hours a day and could leave the toaster in there.
  6. Just had to jump into this topic! I would gladly trade some of the worlds best California peaches and plums just see that bear in that Plum tree! I do hope the tree doesn't break! We grow 80 acres of peaches and plums, about 12 varieties adn 100 acres of Sun Maid raisins. Plum jam is the best! Although I make apricot and pomegranate cooked jam and...
  7. As I read the replys I just laugh, I have been there, searching and tasting everything and more often than not being disappointed for my gluten-free family. With that said, I purchased a Zojirushi 2lb bread maker online from WalMart and make Manna from Anna. You set the setting on medium crust, one rise time and remove it immediatley with finished...
  8. Dear Sheely, I am not Celiac but my husband and college aged daughter are, one son is not. After the first diagnoses I felt overwhelmed for them. I didn't know how to cook or how to shop. I made a decision that our home would be totally gluten-free, home is where you should feel safe. I watched them go up and down in their emotions toward celiac...
  9. My Celiac husband asked his Gut Doctor about eating Oats. He told him, something like this; Big question, well, I guess we could biopsy your intestine then you could eat Oats for a couple of months and then we could re-biopsy and know for sure. My husband decided not to eat Oats but wishes we could know for sure.
  10. Darla, Last week I tried Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free All Purpose Baking Flour to make gravy for Chicken Fried Steak and Gravy. (I know it isn't the healthest meal, but sometimes...........) I coated the meat with the mix and fried it. For the gravy I used the pan juices, Bob's mix and milk to stir up gravy. It turned really good. Corn Starch mixed...

  13. Thank you for your reply! I am starting to get nervous for my family. We going with family to visit extended family over the holidays. We will be staying in a hotel, eating out all meals, including the Holiday dinner, and we are not familar with Las Vegas. We will check out the Hard Rock Hotel. Thank you so much. Do think eating at a Breakfast Buffet...
  14. We are traveling to Las Vegas and would APPRECIATE any help in finding restaurants with gluten free menus. Thanks all!
  15. Thanks everyone! Shopping guides are just that, a guide, I will keep that in mind when using them. I will investigate the shopping guides you recommended. Am getting pretty good at remembering brands and items. But I still need some help. College is going pretty good for my daughter. The cafeteria cooks for her and usually knows what is safe and...
