  1. I just read an article the other day that many males who have celiac do not have a positive DQ 2 and 8. I don't know if you are male or not but I will try to find a link to the article if you are interested.
  2. I know for sure that I have celiac. All of my markers and dna are positive. I do not have copies of my actual labs. I have been gluten free for a while. Now, my 16 year old son shows many of the same symptoms. I had a celiac blood panel done on him- $800 by the way. The results are very confusing and even his doctor says they are confusing. His IgG is VERY...
  3. The older you are the longer it takes for you to heal. I am told it can take two years or more. Yes, and like the others said- don't forget to check your meds, toothpaste, chapstick ect.
  4. Oh, trust me you are not alone. I know it feels like that a lot but more people than you realize deal with all of the same things. In the beginning I was shopping at specialty stores for gluten free products. But now I learn that the regular stores can do me just as well. There are so many natural options and I just try to think about 'eating from the earth...
  5. You can have a DNA test done to see if you have the gene for Celiac. It doesn't matter about your diet because it will show up anyway. I had all the classic blood test and showed Celiac but the doctor ordered the DNA to be 100%. It is hard to find a DR who is educated on this but you know your body better than anyone.

ARCHIVED How Do We Make This Better?

I feel exactly the same way. I have been thru years of suffering and many many doctors. I decided on my own to see an internist about a minor issue I was having in hopes she could possibly give me some answers. Sure enough she diagnosed me. This week I took my youngest two sons to the dr and I asked for them to be tested. She did not think it was important...
  7. M&M's. I am totally addicted to M&Ms right now. I am a former cookie addict and had a difficult time giving that up. When I found out the m&ms were gluten free I got hooked. I eat a bag every day-sometimes 2!
  8. That is very good information. Thank you.
  9. I have been blogging for a long time and have just started my Celiac blog. Does anyone else have one? I am looking for more bloggers. survivingceliac.blogspot.com
  10. Before I was diagnosed with Celiac my allergist did discover that I had a wheat allergy. Then she proceded to say, "Well, don't worry. There are many other options. You can use spelt flour." Wait- when I read the label on spelt it said wheat! Why would an allergist not know that? Would you trust this allergist with your health? I really need to find an allergist...
  11. The attacks that you describe sound exactly like mine. I had my gall bladder removed but got no relief from that. I was just diagnosed with Celiac two months ago. I took a while for my body to respond to gluten free. Give it some time. All of our bodies are different.
  12. I have lived with chronic hives for two years now. I had went to many many doctors and got many different answers. Two months ago I went to an internist with a full medical history. She did massive blood tests including DNA and confirmed that I had Celiac. I am also allergic to cinnamon which you could be too since the incident you talked about. This hive...
