  1. This past week I ate a lot of corn or corn products. I ate yellow corn for supper, plus ate a whole box of fruity peebles which have corn in them and a few other things like popcorn. And today my bones hurt so bad, I'm to the point of not being able to do anything, it is mainly in my legs and hips which are weak areas already, I suffer from an ataxia. ...
  2. In just the last two months I have met four people with gluten intolerance. It turns out my husband sees two other teachers in our area, both are gluten intolerant. At our local farmers market this weekend a gal asked me if I add flour to any of my jams or jellies, and so I asked her why. Both her and her sister are gluten intolerant plus their children...
  3. I did not read everyones replies, but the first thing that caught my eye was the orange juice - some of them contain barley as an additive, so be careful what orange juice you buy. I've done some elimination diets and they are very helpful, I stopped eating soy, and I am lactose intolerant, so dairy was a big one for me. The one thing I learned this...
  4. I just read through the "What would you eat if you could, and some of you mentioned chocolate cake or carrot cake. There are a lot of awesome recipes out there that are already gluten free. But many times I just replace the regular flour in my recipe with the featherlike mix by Bette Hagman and it turns out just wonderful. A couple of them have been a...
  5. My co-worker is eating a very yummy smelling carmel roll this morning, and I just got to have one, does anyone know of a website where I can order some good cinnamon/carmel rolls? I can make my own sauce for them, I just want them to taste good! BamBam
  6. The other day I made a snack with dried cranberries, almonds, walnuts, and it needed a little something extra. So at the grocery store I see shelled sunflower seeds, and I thought "Perfect" a little salt with a little crunch with the sweet. So I poured the bag in, and then, only then looked at the ingredients. You would think it would read "sunflower seeds...
  7. The little ads that pop up on the right side of the screen, shouldn't we be offering gluten/wheat free items? There is some kind of constipation bran cookie that has wheat as an ingredient. I hope people don't order these and then get sick. BamBam
  8. Tarnalberry, I should have added that to my note, I thought of that after I logged out. YES, Calcium is very important for the body and magnesium should help if a person has problems. I just wanted to let people know that if a person takes in calcium supplements, that could be a cause for their constipation. Thanks for writing in! bambam
  9. I signed up at www.denvernaturopathic.com for their newsletter. I have learned so much about so many things. This is a health newsletter on a variety of topics. This last one I read studies are showing that diets with high fructose corn syrup can be related to IBS symptoms, depression and obesity. High fructose corn syrup is just like gluten,...
  10. I know when I take Calcium pills I get way over constipated - I mean 5 days or so and nothing is happening. I used to take calcium when I had diarrhea so bad, and it did help. So maybe some of you have too much calcium in your diet.? Somebody recommended Vance's Dairy Free beverages. I started drinking those about a month ago and I have been constipated...
  11. I called Lawry's today and asked them about their Season-All and she says that all of their items will state if there is wheat, rye, barley or oats in their products. I asked them specifically if they just list wheat or do they consider all "gluten" and her response was that they consider all forms of gluten, so if it does not have wheat, rye, barley or...
  12. I can't seem to find anything else that screwed me up this past week, but at the steakhouse where I usually eat, they sprinkle Lawry's Season All on all their steaks. BamBam

    ARCHIVED Symptoms

Does anyone get the feeling of having to go to the bathroom and not having to go (poop). Every now and then I must eat something that bothers me and my system gets all upset and it feels like I have to go to the bathroom, but nothing happens - my system is all upset like this for at least a whole day and thenit goes away and I feel better. I hate the feeling...
  14. I am lactose intolerant, although I drink a lactose free milk and I eat a lot of plain yogurt and some yoplait yogurt. Do you think I should quit that for awhile and see what happens? BamBam
  15. Can I request five or six of you to send me a menu of what you ate every day for the last two or three days? I am one of those that might poop once or twice a week. I feel I am eating more nutritionally, but thought if I got some menus from you guys I could see if I am way off or what. Thank you in advance. BamBam
  16. As we figure out the different things that we can and cannot eat, I think we need to realize that we are introducing so many new things to our system at one time. We have rice flour, tapioca flour, buckwheat, amaranth, nut flours, bean flours, corn starch, soy flour, flax seed and so many many things. And yet, some of us still have problems with stomach...
  17. Yes, soy does not like me, so I am looking into Kinnikinnick's Bread. I'm in a rut right now and am not getting much nutrition right now.
  18. First of all I am dairy intolerant - but I need to find some good bread that has some nutritional value to it. So many of them are rice flour and water with a few additional things. Also what grains do you buy that are tasty? I'm not too crazy about quinoe (or however it is spelled ). Thanks in advance for your replies. BamBam

    ARCHIVED Soy Flour

Me and a couple other gals on the board here have had problems with soy flour causing constipation, and I mean "come to a stand still" kind of constipation. So if you are plagued by constipation, it may be worth looking to see if some of the items you eat have lots or some soy flour. Some of the items I was eating is the Envirokids cereal bars - gluten...
  20. What happened was I ate several cereal bars that contain soy flour. A member on the boards warned me that soy flour causes her horrible constipation. Well, you know, the not me game. Well, I ate these cereal bars and I was fine most of the time before them. Well, everything came to a complete stand still and I had to talk Milk of Mag last night - two...
  21. Thank you for your response. I've basically been gluten free for the couple of years with a few slip ups here and there. I know when I eat gluten, I feel absolutely horrible. I don't want to eat gluten for 3-6 months in order to get a positive test. There are several of us here that are self diagnosed. Every now and then I get to feeling sorry for myself...
  22. I'm in a rutt right now, I need some help with meals. I am not eating well right now and am having lots of bathroom problems again, I'm either too regular or no movement at all. The fiber supplements are too much for my system. Could you help me out by giving me some basic meal ideas that are not too hard on the system? BamBam
  23. Yes, Julie is wonderful, very caring. She did inform me that once she gets her feet under her, she has been extremely busy keeping up with store orders, that she will start making some "dairy free" items. She is just not happy with the way things turn out right now using rice milk, I think she wants to try some different things so she can get the best flavor...
  24. While on vacation, I was able to stop at Grandma Ferdon's Gluten Free Store in Hayward Wisconsin. It is a nice little shop with many nice items. I thought the prices were reasonable for gluten free items as most of her mixes makes more than 1 loaf or more than one batch of bisquits. However, nearly all of her ready made items have milk or cream in them...
  25. I will run to the store tonight and see what they have, I thought Rice Dream was the bad one and I know our grocery store carries that one. And yes, Soy can be an enemy - it stirs up my system pretty bad, so I stay away from that. Has anyone tried Goat Milk? I have that here in the store but have not tried it yet, I've heard it is good for those of...
