  3. I tried it both ways!
  4. Hi, I know there are tonnes of questions about brea, bread makers etc on here but after my last inqiry about bread I bought Gluten-Free Baking Classics and it is absolutely fantastic - my cakes and stuff turn out delicious! What my question is, I don't have a lot of time to cook breads in the oven and have been trying to adapt the sandwich bread and Italian...
  5. Hello, I know a bit late in the day for my reply but havent been on in a while! I'm originally from Swansea, Wales! Moved to Indiana though in January for university! *waves*
  6. Oh Crikey, I eat potato ever single day almost in some form or another. I think I'll start eliminating things one by one and keep a diary. I've had really bad pains in my stomach the last few days amongst other problems, I don't think I can carry on like this really.
  7. Im 24 and moved from the Uk to the US to come to university/college/school (I have no idea what the correct term is here!) I just finished my first semester of the second year (sophmore??) and besides the whole factor of being in a new country etc I actually found it really difficult even though I don't live on campus (which would have probably been worse...
  8. haha I like it!!
  9. It was very upsetting that the Dr said that, made me doubt a lot of things in myself. Good idea with the diary, I didnt think of that!! Will give it a go for a few weeks!
  10. I have totally eliminated gluten from my diet. I found out last year in February (after ending up in hospital and being sent home because they didn't know what it was but I continued to go to my doctors until he finally found out) and tried eating as gluten free as I could but I don't like being fussy and being a burden on people. Over the summer I...
  11. Sorry if this sounds a daft question but what are "the nightshade family" I hope Im not allergic to tomatoes, I love them...or even worse cheese, that would be devistating to me! Although Cheese isn't very healthy for me being as Im trying to loose weight! So how long should I cut a certain item out of my diet and try it again to know if I'm...
  12. I've been reading the forum a lot lately and was just wondering is there different intolerance levels? I ask because I never thought about my make up or hair shampoo etc as having gluten in, nor did I ever think about animal food, using completly different cookware etc. I've known for the last year I have celiac but its only since March that i took it 10...
  13. Its only me and my husband and if he wants bread he buys it rather than make it so yes the breadmaker is gluten free, we only bought it for me to make gluten free bread!
  14. I would love to be able to do that but I've kind of gone into a state of hibernation, I finished my first semester and havent made any friends because I found being from another country hard enough let alone being faced with looking like the fussiest person on the planet!. Everyone's gone home for the summer now so I don't need to worry about it until next...
  15. I Live in Huntington, IN and was wondering if there are any groups around here?
  16. When I came over to the USA in December I managed to bring some snack bars on the plane with me without a problem. My mum had an apple with her last year when she came over and was told to get rid of it because she was sent randomly through an agriculture check but that was at the other end so she could have eaten it on the plane if she wanted to. When I...
  17. I know I could probably live without bread but I find it so hard. I never disliked any bread before but the gluten free ones I've tried just taste awful. I did make a pizza once from some mix and discovered the thinner it is the better it tastes! Having a very depressing time with food at the moment because I dont seem to be able to eat or find anything...
  18. I met my husband before I was diagnosed with celiac. Although that might have been easier he did have to deal with me ending up in hospital and going through the diagnosis and being very much in denial. He is the one who makes sure I don't eat the wrong things and I don't know how I would cope without him! The hardest part for me is university and being...
  19. Thanks for the advice. Back home (Im originally from the UK) I managed to find bread in the local store which I liked but over here there is only one place near me that sells pre made bread. I've tried loads of packet bread mixes but nothing turned out tasty so far. (btw my breadmaker has a gluten free setting on it) Ill try some of the suggestions, in...
  20. Can anyone advise me on some "nice" tasting bread? I've got a breadmaker in the house and used several brands to make my own bread but they always come out very heavy and "wet". When I've bought the pre made bread its still "wet" but everything I've tried tastes horrible and Its becoming very expensive buying and I end up wasting it because I don't like it...
