  1. Both of my kids had reflux to the point where medication had to be given and even still they wore bibs around their necks all the time to keep from getting too soggy. I don't think this is in and of itself is related to celiac but I have read that one symptom of celiac is when your baby projectile vomits a great deal of the time. Our celiac son did this...
  2. Hey, thanks a bunch! I'm happy to hear from someone who has actually tried a product. I have been a bit skeptical of paying hundreds of dollars for a cleanse. Not to mention we can't really afford that since Whole Foods Market is officially taking most of our paycheck now. -Anna
  3. Now that my husband and I are really starting to get to know the little boy we knew was always in there somewhere, we have both been stumbling across some pretty strong feelings about the way we were treated as parents. From only a few days old, our little guy would act friendly around other people but was totally resistant to contact with us. It seems...
  4. I really sit and wonder how many children and parents go through this. I can be perfectly honest in saying that I was sooo hurt by Gabe seeming to reject me that I just didn't know what to do. I went through rollercoasters of emotion andspent lots of time building myself up, trying to get close to him again and again only to be crushed every time. I can...
  5. Along with my diagnosis of celiac, the oriental Dr I am seeing sent a specimen off to a lab outside of the us. They found both giardia and roundworms. Totally gross to think that even in modern society, we still have parasites. I have't decided yet how i'm going to deal with that problem. His special herbal medication to kill the worms was something to...
  6. I read some things stating that yeast in the gut can cause symptoms to hang around. Also, I have been seeing a Dr. who studies oriental meds and he informed me that about 70% of the US suffers from parasites, which can also continue irritation after celiac is treated. Many times when labs for things like parasites are sent away, they come back with false...
  7. Because this almost 2 year old baby is a totally different child! We are just blown away by how beautiful Gabe has become in the last few weeks. Today he let me hold him while he was waking up from a nap. He rested his head on my shoulder and I melted because he was so busy pushing me away before that he had never just rested in my arms. It felt good...
  8. How funny! I am honestly pretty amused by some of these responses. Cold Stone is my favorite! I am learning not to use drive throughs but that doesn't help when you crave MC Ice Cream at 11:30 at night. -Anna
  9. Getting violently sick from eating steak was one of the major reasons i ever had a colonoscopy done and would have never found the celiac without it. I haven't been gluten free for long but I'm curious to see if my steak issues go away after my new diet changes. I'm thinking steak is hard to digest and maybe it just irritates an already irritated colon...
  10. Hello everyone. This is my first time posting in this section and I have only been part of this forum for a week or so. I wanted to share my story, if for no other reason, it feels good to share with someone. I have been sick as long as I can recall and have always had a lot of stress in my life which seemed to aggrivate the health issues I had. Even...
  11. I have been gluten free for less than 2 weeks and have been doing whatever I can to research what is ok and what is not ok. Most of the food in my cupboard was replaced with gluten free food and because hubby and I like to go out to eat, we did some research on safe restaurants in the area. McDonald's was not even on my "check it out" list because we never...
  12. HaHaHa! I just did this also. I felt quite cross with the company who made a delicious looking oreo cookie claiming to be "wheat free." I never actually ate one but when I went to get the box out of the cupboard to try one, a little lightbulb went off in my brain saying "wheat free? Now, what exactly does that mean? Shouldn't it say 'gluten free?'...
  13. I am quite new to the idea of being gluten free and before I was able to do some research I rushed off to the healthfood store for answers that might solve my gluten free delimma. I grabbed the first employee I saw and drug him over to the flour section explaining that I could not eat anything that had "wheat gluten" in it. This was before I knew about...
  14. Hello everyone! I am new here and this is my first time posting. Forgive me if the title of my post sounds too up-beat but let me explain why I am "excited." I am a 24 yr old female and my whole life has been filled with health issues. I have had GI problems since I can remember and being in a lot of pain has always been normal for me. During and...
