    Hi there, I know that spelt is a distant cousin of wheat, but from what i've read it's supposed to be easier to digest than wheat. Has anyone tried it and what reactions did you have to it? We bought hamburger buns, out of desperation, at Whole Foods and my husband had one roll just to try it out. Will see what happens. Keeping our fingers crossed...

    My husband has celiac disease as well as Lactose Free. We shop at Whole Foods every 2 weeks or so to get supplies. They have a great selection of different things from Flours to pasta, gluten-free breads and alot more. The store in our area, Orlando, Fl, carries chocolate chips that is gluten-free and Dairy Free.     I've just got up enough nerve to start making bread. I've tried a couple of Bette Hagman's bread receipies, but the one thing I had trouble with is over baking the crust.     Well, you can do what I do. I have a small lunch bag that looks more like a purse that I take with me when I know we're going out to eat. In it I put small containers of my husbands favorite salad dressing, Butter (Lactose Free), a couple of rolls, Ketsup and Mustard if he needs it. To keep things cool, I'll put in a small ice pack.     Thanks for the warning. We do get our bread from Whole Foods in Winter Park, FL and it comes from Deland. Wonderful. Do you know any other place in the area where you can get bread, Millet or another kind that would be good.     We have been using Millet Bread for the last 4 months that my husband's been gluten-free. As far as we can tell, he hasn't had a reaction to it. I became concerned when I found this: Open Original Shared Link and it listed Millet as containing Gluten. In the Bette Hagman Cookbook, it listed Millet as being gluten-free. What is everyones opinion...

    About fast food places, McDonalds fries are gluten-free....cooked in oil that is used only for the fries and hashbrowns. TGI Fridays has a gluten-free menu, as do PF Changs and many other places I can't remember. It is difficult, though, to eat out...nobody gets it....it's rather funny and disturbing at the same time when you ask about gluten and people...
