Hi, I absolutely understand your frustration. After going gluten free I quickly realized that even "safe" restaurants screw up and tend to have cross contamination problems, or a lack of understanding of celiac disease. I have not eaten in a restaurant in 2 years and have healed so much faster. The only cross contamination I have had problems with has been...

ARCHIVED In Case Anyone Was Wondering About..
hrly169 replied to Jamie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just head about the betty crocker mixes and am super excited. I have one question though, does anyone know about the cross contamination issue with these mixes? Are they made in a separate facility? -
I have been gluten free for 2 years now. I got tested and everything, and feel a hundred times better than I did growing up. My only complaint about my diet is my family. They just don't get it. What set off this post is I got a call from my grandmother last night telling me she did not want me to live my life in a bubble because I am a celiac, and the only...

ARCHIVED Recipe Rice Wraps
hrly169 replied to Joyus1021's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Food4Life are by far the best tortillas I have found. I usually put them in the oven for a minute or two to warm them up and then use them as a warp. They are super good. -
ARCHIVED White Furry Coated Tongue - Minocycline
hrly169 replied to peternz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I always had a white, furry tongue when I was younger and when I went off gluten and got through the detox process it cleared up. Now when I eat something that does not set well with my system, especially a lot of yeast the white tongue comes back. -
ARCHIVED How Did I Get Glutened?
hrly169 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been gluten free for about 2 years now. I am extremely careful about cross contamination and always check ingredients and check with manufacturers. I also can tell immediately when I have been glutened, my symptoms are always the same and always come in the same order. I always get migraines when I get glutened. So heres' my question. Yesterday... -
I have been gluten free for a little over a year. I am just starting to date again and have a very random question. If you are on a date with someone who eats gluten, while on the date, and you kiss them afterwards, can you get glutened? If so, what do you do? Again I know this may be a random question, but I have been wondering. Thanks

ARCHIVED Bottled Water
hrly169 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, so I have been gluten free for two years. The thought that bottle water could contain gluten never crossed my mind until I saw a post about Dasani water being gluten free. Is there a chance for gluten in bottled water? I always drink Aquafina. I just thought i'd put this out there. Thanks so much -
ARCHIVED Pressure In Between Eyes
hrly169 replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have had the feeling of pressure in between my eyes for almost a year now. I have been gluten free for about a year and refined sugar free for a year and a half. I have looked into sinus issues but that doesn't seem to be the cause. I have not done a candida cleanse in a long time, what would I need to cut out of my diet to see if this would relieve my... -
I have a recipe for biscuits and it requires buttermilk powder. Is there any substitute I can use for this that anyone knows of? Thanks so much

I cannot have any sugar more refined than evaporated cane juice. Everyone I have asked says that brown sugar is just refined white sugar mixed with molasses which means I cannot eat it. Is there any natural brown sugar or a brown sugar substitute I can use in recipes. I am putting together my Thanksgiving menu and running into problems with this. Thanks...

Is butter gluten free? I currently use horizon butter and just realized i'd never known if it was gluten free or not. Thanks

I have talked to the corporate office at MAC and know for sure that the matte eye shadow is gluten free, but I am trying to figure out if the satin, frost, and velvets are gluten free? thanks

I just got offered a job in a local coffee shop and bakery. They make all their foods and pastries on site. I would not be working with the food personally but I am wondering if being around the white flour will cause a reaction. It has been a year since I have been around any amount of white flour so I do not know if I should expect a reaction. Any help...

Hi, I am new to this forum and am a newly diagnosed celiac. I have been successful at getting all the gluten out of my home but I have run into a wall. All I can find to eat is bland, chewy, cardboard tasting food. I have not yet mastered any of the conversions with the different flours and sugars. I am feeling very frustrated. Are their any good books...

Hi, this my first posting. I have just recently been diagnosed with celiac disease. I have been able to take the gluten out of my home but I am concerned about eating out. As im sure you all know it's important to be able to go out to restaurants with friends but I have heard so many horror stories about cross contamination that I'm quite scared. How...
