  1. Have any of you checked for pinworms? My dd started complaining during the evening hours of itchy-anal. I had a flash-back of a mom telling me the story of her children getting pinworms and what a nuisance they were to their family. I checked, and there it was staring right back at me. You have to be mischevious though to spot them since they hide from...
  2. I have been battling with what I believe is Candida and Ulcerative Colitis since my early 20's. I am almost 50 now and have had 3 severe episodes of UC which were only brought under control by high doses of Prednisone. I believe the candida, if it is there, has comprised my intestinal walls and caused the disease to progress to the stage it is in at this...
  3. If one is allergic to wheat, then if we were to test the antibodies in the stool, then the test should come back negative, right? Does vidence of antibodies indicate autoimmune response? (Enterolab testing panel) I'm trying to determine if my dd's reaction to wheat products is an allergic reaction or autoimmune. She already was dx with an allergy to...
  4. Hello to All, The appoint. is finally here, the day after tomorrow. My 11 YO dd has to stay up most of the night and be admitted into hospital for extended EEG. When the hospital called this morning to cover details, she was asking lots of questions. I had to tell her what we could do to trigger several episodes, (besides sleep-deprivation) which was...
  5. I do see what you are saying in your case. One bite of a cookie gave my dd a seizure she won't forget. This is enough ammunition for me. I think this may be determined by how big the bite is from eating the gluten. ???
  6. Thought this was good. From one of my topics on another board.... What can Enterolab testing really tell you? I already know we are "sensative" to gluten. My N.D. recommended the full panel after getting neg. blood work. I'm not sure why I should spend the money. I could not agree more. Why get a full panel with negative blood work? The only test...
  7. Tom, you know, I "kind a" got a dx. What do you think of this? I went to see my ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat Specialist) for an ear infection, I quickly told him of the onset of seizures for my daughter and how it was gluten related, how I eliminated it and now she is doing well. He casually says, "Oh, that would be celiac". Gets up, puts our charts away and...
  8. I do relate to you. For about 10 seconds when I am ordering or talking to kitchen staff, relatives or strangers, I feel awkward and fear their opinions. I quickly recognize my silliness and buck it up in my mind. This is my self-talk to get me through it; "you know gluten makes you sick, quit worrying about what these people think, they are likely clueless...
  9. I have no idea what her intestines are like. She appears healthy. Growing like a weed and chunky. Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. TONS of energy. G-Track seems okay to me but just lately starting telling me of stomach pains. Home schooling has turned out to be a real blessing. No school to worry about. I have been hschooling since the beginning but...

  11. Amyleigh0007, Wanted to let you know we are having the same problems at my house. Every single week we have a set-back. We've been getting gluten from foods that we don't know it is in. The learning curve is painful. Yesterday I was so discouraged. Better days ahead.
  12. "The" Recipe We had quiet the evening with my DD for she was so elated that we could NOT get her to settle down for bed last night. It's so wonderful to see her so proud of herself after a particularly difficult two months from illness. I only hope she can repeat this loaf for State Fair. Plus, I think more good news is needed on this forum. Here...
  13. She is 11 yrs. old. This is the first time I have had her out in public without practically sitting on her since it started in May. Plus, it's been a long while since she has actually eaten pure gluten. We've had many reactions but it has been to hidden gluten. I think this is great advice from you all. I thought for sure people would say to tattle...
  14. Oh, no, spelt was the first food to come into question, it quickly was eliminated. She was diagnosed allergic to wheat (causing Asthma) so I thought spelt would be safe. (No problems for several years). Clearly not! Can you have an "allergy" to gluten? (I've only seen it in terms of Celiac). MSG has caused reactions and it has been eliminated as well...
  15. I've been working on cleaning her diet up for weeks now but all it took was for one little friend to offer her a nible of her cookie. (We are working long hours at the county fair and are surrounded with gluten. Heck, we are surrounded by gluten anywhere but home). She admits now that it was totally not worth it. One hour later after the cookie, she...
  16. The judge really really liked it. She said, "do you have part of this loaf left at home so that you can go home and freeze the rest for State Fair?" She is to pick a select few to compete at the State level and our gluten-free recipe made it over gluten loaves! She had sliced it open to evalute it and had nothing but good things to say. What a huge encouragement...
  17. ~gfpaperdoll~ I didn't respond to that last post based on what you said but glad to see you back. I would *love* that flourless cookie recipe! (Don't know your personal email either) Yes, I clicked on the link, copied it and emailed it my husband's work asking for a copy of the whole document. I am experiencing printer difficulties. I find it quiet...
  18. Hi All, Yes, I am in the US Thanks for the clarification but I honestly did read that MSG has gluten in it. Ugh. However, I read alot too about how the public is misinformed to regarding the effects of MSG - that it isnt' really effecting people and that it is perfectly "safe". I watched my daugher arms trembling, she collapse of weakness, turned pale...
  19. This is an exciting day. I just made sense as to why my daughter reacts to MSG in the same way as wheat. (Mild Seizing). Gluten is extracted from the wheat grain for MSG. She had a reaction this morning possibly from McDonald's Fries, a large portion at that from lunch yesterday! I learned that Micky-D's fries have MSG. (this all sounding accurate to...
  20. It's now been bout 8 weeks since seizing began. I have been able to greatly reduce her episodes but occassionally one will come out of nowhere. This morning she has one and she used her family toaster. All I can figure. I am slowly starting to understand things and finding that she is triggered by the smallest amount. It is so frustrating. Gluten is...
  21. ~Fiddle-Faddle~ We see remarkable improvements in all her symptoms when off gluten, EXCEPT the rash. I thought it was looking like it was atleast 20% better, then it flared up again. She has been gluten free for approx. 6 weeks with a few set backs along the way. She is 11 yrs. old and her body image is extremely unhealthy, due to this stinkin' rash....
  22. ~gfpaperdoll~ Yep, it counts that you are a fan of Ursa's. Glad to hear from anyone. I think you and I have talked on a differnt thread. You have diagnosed correctly. I am steering clear from wheat, artifical sweetners, MSG, nitrites, perservatives, chemicals and dairy with my dd. All of shown reactions of different sorts. As for soy, I have cheated...
  23. Ravenwoodglass~ Sorry it took so long for you to learn that it was gluten for you. All those unecessary meds! It is great to hear from someone who has had neuro problems related to gluten! This is exactly my concern. I want to know if it gluten now... Thanks for all that you shared. I will be looking up taxia and UBO's online. All I know is that when...
  24. Tip, Thanks for explaining.... Thank God my DD has NOT had any grand mal's. I don't like even what we are having though. Wonder why she is reacting to spelt after eating it for years. ??? Seizures seems like an odd reaction to food. Anyone heard of seizing to be an "allergic" reaction? My DD has Asthma as an allery to it.
