ARCHIVED Styes On Your Eyes
ErraticBinxie replied to DragonQueen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I never got them but I asked my mom and she said she used to get them a lot before she went gluten-free. Since she found out she was Celiac she hasn't had them. My sister (Who should be gluten-free but isnt) gets them sometimes. -
I love Amy's Kitchen products. I don't know how common they are everywhere else but here in Oregon, you can find them in almost any grocery store. She makes a lot of Gluten-free and vegan frozen dinners. I have always loved her products and eat them frequently. They proudly advertise that they are good for people on a gluten-free/lactose free diet. Just...

ARCHIVED How Do You Stay Gf In College?
ErraticBinxie replied to wildkitty's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I go to college at the University of Oregon and here in Eugene, Oregon, everyone is stereotypically and extremely health conscious. I think that a huge percentage of the students here attempt to be vegan at some point in their lives. Even though a huge amount of the students that live in the dorms know about gluten intolerance or are gluten intolerance... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonalds Question
ErraticBinxie replied to DragonQueen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I personally would not do it. I don't risk ANYTHING when it comes to gluten. There are a ton of links on this forum to articles about McDonalds. I suggest you read them before you make a decision. -
ARCHIVED Why Mcdonalds Sucks
ErraticBinxie replied to ErraticBinxie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I waitress over the summer at a restaurant and I agree with everyone who said they work in restaurants. Even if it seems clean and everything on the outside, you have NO idea what is going on in the kitchen. Now that I am also Lactose intolerant I don't ever want to eat in restaurants again. There is such a high risk for cross contamination everyewhere... -
I don't know if you have all already seen this. I got this from a celiac Myspace group. Anyways an article was printed that said that McDonalds has suddenly posted on their website that their french fries contain wheat and dairy ingredients, something that they have denied in the past. I am including the link below. I am really disappointed. Just when...

ARCHIVED What Do You Take For Cold/flu?
ErraticBinxie posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Right now I am taking Dayquil/Nyquil and my stomach isn't feeling wonderful. Usually I take Advil Cold and Sinus. Just wondering what works for you all. -
Open Original Shared Link Click on that link. This is my favorite celiac group on myspace.

ARCHIVED Some Doctors Are Frusterating
ErraticBinxie posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was never formally diagnosed with Celiac but my mom was so when I was 8 years old, I went gluten-free anyways. My pediatrician doesn't believe I have it and won't even believe that I'm gluten intolerant. I went to go see him yesterday and told him that I havent been feeling good lately and I'm having all these problems, on and on. He doesn't believe... -
I read somewhere that there were like three main fast food restaurants that DO NOT use separate fryers for fries and other foods and Wendy's was one of them. So I stopped eating Wendy's which made me very sad. I have started to realize after so long that food isn't as important as it used to be in my life. Being healthy is so much better than food.

I am showing wierd adverse effects that I have never had before. I have been gluten-free for ten years but I am obviously contaiminating myself somehow. I have been having mild stomach trouble, my hair is falling out and the thing I have never had happen before is that the skin on my hands and bottoms of my feet is peeling really bad. Also I am getting...

I know that inhaling flour can make you sick. It has happened to people I have known before. It gets into your body, it makes you sick. I have had a rather unfortunate thing happen to me. I just started college and moved into the dorms. The dorm I was assigned shares a fence with a BREAD FACTORY. I was appaled. It smells like bread baking ALWAYS...

Hi I just wanted to pass on some words of encouragement. You ended your post with "Hate to be Gluten Free." I know right now your outlook is bleak. We have all been through it. I am 18 and have been gluten-free for ten years. Sometimes it sucks. But in the past few years, I have learned to have a sense of pride about it. Something that helped me was...

ARCHIVED Finding A Boyfriend
ErraticBinxie replied to joemoe003's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I think it would be ideal to marry someone who has celiac disease. I look at my family and we are split down the middle, my mom and I have celiac disease, my dad and my sister don't, and sometimes it makes life hard. It would be so great to marry someone that has celiac disease and live your whole life completely gluten-free instead of worrying about having... -
Being gluten-free isn't always fun. In fact it is hardly a blessing at all. I have been gluten-free for 10 years now and I sometimes I struggle with eating well. Usually I live on corn tortillas and cheese. I have also not been so lucky to live in a city with an abundance of gluten-free stores such as people in New York or Los Angeles get to experience...

ARCHIVED How Long Have U Had Cd?
ErraticBinxie replied to wickedclown's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I am almost 18, have been gluten-free since I was 9. The funny thing is that I always think about the last gluten thing I ate intentionally when I think about how long I have been gluten-free. I was in fourth grade. I ate some animal crackers. Never again did I intentionally eat gluten. What a lame thing to end my gluten-filled life with huh? -
ARCHIVED Question About Condition Of Hair...
ErraticBinxie replied to Ashley's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I lose my hair periodically as well. I don't talk to a doctor or anything about it (mostly because he refuses to diagnose me as having celiac disease even though i havent eaten gluten in 9 years) but I have discussed this with my mom. We were thinking that it might be an adverse reaction to foods you eat that show up months later. We came to this conclusion... -
ARCHIVED Question About Condition Of Hair...
ErraticBinxie replied to Ashley's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
You were saying that your hair isn't the same.... I started the diet when I was 8 and before I started the diet, I always got comments about how unusual my hair was. They called it beaded hair. My hair was growing funny because of the disease and it made my hair straight and curly at the same time. My hair was really rough and course. A couple of months... -
ARCHIVED Cigarette Smoke?
ErraticBinxie replied to minibabe's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I think that inhaling gluten can cause you to have a reaction. I know that when I inhale flour I get a sore throat. I read somewhere that you have villi in the back of your throat and villi is what reacts to gluten. -
I know this is probably a stupid question but can we have smirnoff or bacardi that has malt in it? I accidentally had some the other day and had no problems and i have been gluten-free for 9 years and usually the littlest thing sets me off. Just wondering....

I haven't heard anyone yet that's from the "great northwest" so if you are, I would love to hear from you!

I don't know specifically where you can find scholarships but I think you will be able to find them online. -
ARCHIVED Getting Diagnosed
ErraticBinxie replied to ErraticBinxie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The reason that I want to have medical proof that I have celiac disease is because of college. There are scholarships available for people that have celiac disease. Don't ask me why but they just do. And couldn't we all use a little money for college? -
ARCHIVED Reaction Time
ErraticBinxie replied to TINADOYLE's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I learned something interesting about eating out. My mom has celiac disease as well and sometimes when we eat out she gets a sore throat from something that we later find out we are allergic to. I learned from somewhere that everyone has some villi in the back of their throat. Since gluten damages our villi this makes sense that we get a sore throat if... -
Does anyone have problems with peanuts as well? I have talked to celiacs who associate their problems with peanuts as part of celiac. It might just be that I have a peanut allergy as well but I just wondered if it could relate to celiac in any way.
