  1. Yes, I understand that. The doctor however, does not. I had to explain to her that you need to eat gluten for a while in order for the antibodies to show up. Yet she is still running the test anyways?
  2. Now I am really scared. I looked up on several websites about bowel obstructions and I have every single symptom. Minus not being able to poop. This happened Saturday and I still have a lower backache with pain in my lower intestinal region. Thankfully it isn't severe but it is noticable. I am going to call the doctor first thing in the morning to see if...
  3. I was seriously considering it. I didn't think that I would be able to make it to the hospital because I couldn't get off the toilet. I have an appointment if the gastro on Friday. Maybe they will order ultrasounds. Pretty scary but good advice.
  4. Maybe I'll have to test this out and eat some corn and see if I have a reaction. It also made me think back to the first time I had a reaction like this and I had corn tortilla chips from a resturaunt that day. However, the reactions don't happen right away like they do when I eat something bad. Normally, when I am glutened I can tell within 15 minutes something...
  5. I am glad that I am not alone. I right away have noticed that is very different from being glutened. When glutened, my stomach area hurts (right under the breast bone), like being stabbed over and over. Also, when I am gluttened I am normally sick for about a week and unable to eat anything without running to the toilet five minutes later. This pain is very...
  6. Just got a call with the go ahead to make an appointment with the gastro. Hopefully I can get in soon!
  7. I had anemia pretty much my whole life (from what I can remember). The doctors never looked into what it was caused by. I had blood work done after I was on a gluten free diet and for the first time I didn't have anemia! So many doctors are bad and you have to find the one that will actually listen to you and look further into your symptoms.
  8. So I saw a new doctor because I just got health insurance and I told her that I am on a gluten free diet and all of my symptoms dissapeared within a month of starting. I have been gluten free for over a year now and the last three time I have been glutened I have had severe intestinal cramping. She is in the process of getting a referral to a gastroenterologist...
  9. I have a lot of tattoos. I have never had a reaction before except sometimes when it's hot, tattoos on certain parts of my body will become itchy and raised. Mainly on the backs of my arms and calves. You should be safe! Good luck, tattoos are fun!
  10. Thank you all for your opinions. After a lot of thought I think it is definitely the better choice to consider being "diagnosed" instead of torturing myself to get tested. All I have to do is remember how terrible I used to feel and how much my life has changed since I have been gluten free. Although, I really do miss real pizza. I just have to keep telling...
  11. I just got health insurance and was wondering if it would be a good idea to get tested for celiac now. I've been on the gluten free diet for over a year now and all of my symptoms have disappeared. No more migraines, incapacitating stomach pains, diarrhea everyday, fatigue, anemia, etc. In fact, I am even doing better in college. I first went on the diet...

    ARCHIVED Defeated...

I went to the doc last week to ask for celiac tests and what the doc's opinion was. She said my symptoms sound like celiac-sprue and ordered blood work and an ultrasound of my abdomen. I'm paying everything out of pocket for this so I decided to wait on the ultrasound until my blood work came back. They call me a couple days later saying I have mono...
  13. I'm glad I found this post. I have been on my gluten free diet for a few weeks now and have been to the doctor to get tests for celiac. It turns out they did not test for celiac (which I asked for) but they did test for mono which came out positive. It seems like a waste of money to me because I am paying out of pocket and I feel like I just wasted 350...
  14. Well then, that would explain why I felt so horrible. I still feel terrible today. Oh well, I didn't like them anyways.
  15. I'm glad to know I am not alone. I just started my gluten free diet a couple weeks ago and I am crossing my fingers one day my tummy will be gone. Some days I look like I could be pregnant and everyday I see it and my self esteem gets lower and lower. . Let me know if you find something that works! Good luck.
  16. I'm starting to think that I may have multiple problems with food. It's really hard for me because doctors seem to look past what might really be happening. My mother's side of the family has a HUGE list of stomach problems that have afftected everyone on that side of the family. Such as Celiac Disease, Crohn's Disease, Gerd, Lactose Intolerance...that's...
  17. I made it myself and used KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce. In regards to my name...Lasers go pew pew I guess its a nerd thing.
  18. Does anyone happen to know if Puffins Peanut Butter cereal is gluten free? It says wheat free but the company does not provide anymore information if it is gluten free. I had some for the first time today and afterwards had an extremely bad migrane, horrible nausea, and nearly passed out while shopping. I might have to try it again and see if I have the same...
  19. Hey everyone! I have been on a gluten and wheat free diet for about two weeks now and started feeling better after years and years of having serious stomach issues, headaches, and fatigue. My husband has been doing a great job keeping me on track and trying to stay away from gluten and wheat himself. We have been having a difficult time trying to find foods...
