ARCHIVED Doubt Its celiac disease But Want Some Reassurance
sugarsue replied to sungold17's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The test results are also subject to the doctor's interpretion of them. My daughter's neurologist looks at the test results and says that nothing is wrong but her pedi looks at the test and says she's gluten intolerant (she had one positive result in the celiac panel). We went gluten free and she is doing wonderfully in so many areas. Although we are still... -
hmmmm, interesting. My dd is still having trouble with 1 daily diarrhea. I have noticed that it's worse when she has orange juice or oranges. But she has apple juice every day and sometimes apple sauce. I will try to cut this out and see if it improves. I hope your little one heals and can eat apples again!

ARCHIVED 6th Birthday - "cake" Ideas
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks you guys! I knew you'd have some great ideas! I love the creative solutions of putting the brownies or cookies in stacks or put together with icing, etc. I got to the health food store today and bought 2 brands based on your recommendations. We will see how it goes next weekend! -
ARCHIVED 6th Birthday - "cake" Ideas
sugarsue posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
She wants a big giant cookie for her cake that she had last year before going gluten free. I'm wondering if you can recommend the best cookie mix, brownie mix and/or cake mix for cupcakes so I can decide what to bake for her birthday. I don't think I can bake the big cookie in my oven and have it come out OK. I say mix instead of from scratch because... -
It depends on why you are deficient though. I have to blast myself with a lot of vitamin D supplements to get my levels up. The sun just doesn't do it for me for some reason and you are right, I can't get it just from food either. It might be because my hashimoto's autoimmune disorder.

Yes, very excellent point. I have not discussed this directly with our new doc but will soon. I don't exactly know the next steps. After I find out the results of the OAT and stool analysis, I am thinking of suggesting other IgG and IgE tests like ELISA maybe and I don't want to forget about the sulfites and other things we've talked about in this thread...

Thanks! I'm not familar with SCD so I will check that out. I don't give her soy although she may get some soy milk on rare occasion. I wonder if she'd do better with injections. I'll ask her doc about that. I've wondered that about detoxing from the glutathione too. I wish I knew because it might help me to continue knowing that some good is happening...

This was one of the bacteria that is tested in the OAT. She had to take a special probiotic to help get rid of it. I am glad that you are starting to feel better and continuting to find answers. GOOD LUCK!

Nice, thanks! One of the best things my doctor did for my well being and autoimmune disease was to diagnose my vitamin D deficiency! Susan

Her orig. OAT was about 1 yr ago that we had it done. She did have high Oxalates. Tried the low oxalate diet for a while but the way I did it it had so much wheat in it so I didn't notice any help. We have not done another OAT until now so I don't know what her oxalates are like now. Our doc thinks they were high due to her yeast issues which are more...

Thank you Rachel, I find your posts so informative and helpful and appreciate you taking so much time to respond. I'll have to read this a few times to take it all in.... I've had trouble finding anyone who has experience with glutathione and I'm still not positive that's what she's having trouble with but it is (was) pointing to that. She did have a...

Rachel and others... I was reading a post from a month or so ago about glutathione and sulfites. Can you tell me a little more? My dd (age 6) has been taking glutathione and I believe it's giving her awful diarrhea. The docs say it should not be doing that but I'll know within a day or two because I've decided to stop it. She's on a pretty high dose of...

ARCHIVED How Far Back Does Gluten Exposure Set Them?
sugarsue posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I know I'm early in the game here but I keep getting my daughter exposed to gluten! She was very upset about not being able to have some cake and I got her something else at a friends house. Half way through the chips, I realized they had wheat in them. I hadn't even read the label!! I was so upset with myself and felt so dumb and frustrated. Then... -
ARCHIVED Bowel Issues Started Up Again
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks guys for the ideas and support. I am at this strange stage where we are not certain whether it's celiac or not and our doc said not to worry about cross contamination. But maybe she's more sensitive then we imagine. This is such a big learning experience! I plan on doing the DNA test soon so I can at least know whether she has the gene or not.... -
ARCHIVED Day 4 Gluten Free
sugarsue replied to wsieving's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
OK, this is really strange. My dd (6) was drooling when she was asleep just this week. I remember thinking how that was strange since I had never noticed her doing that before! She had a big change with her eating too where she started eating a lot of food where she was not before. I too noticed a change right away. I'm glad you are seeing improvements... -
ARCHIVED Bowel Issues Started Up Again
sugarsue posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
After a few really good days and a week of feeling really good, she's had bad diarrhea again today and the day before yesterday. Yesterday it was better but not great. I don't think she's gotten any gluten anywhere. It makes me wonder if something else is also going on. She drank orange juice tonight before her tummy started hurting. She was at a friends... -
ARCHIVED Am I Missing Something?
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I don't think the mediated IgG was tested. Interesting about your mom and Hashi's. I put that in my signature just now in case it brings up other conversations about it. I have Hashi's too but my antibodies do show up. I was tested for celiac's a few years ago. It was negative but I knew nothing about it back then so I don't know what my results were... -
ARCHIVED I Think The Diet Is Working
sugarsue replied to SAHM2one's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is really great! I noticed a difference within days of starting the diet with my 6 yr old. We are still working on it and some days are better than others, but it's amazing the difference! Congrats! -
ARCHIVED Am I Missing Something?
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi! Her Antigliadin IgG test was positive (84 with less than 11 being in range) and her total IgA was 64 with 33-230 being in range). Do you mean that the IgG test is what diagnoses the gluten intolerance? Some have said that the 64 might indicate low IgA production which is the part that is kind of throwing me off on whether I need to try to determine... -
ARCHIVED Am I Missing Something?
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks, I knew that this test would not gain us a diagnosis but was wondering about learning more about her condition so I may have some guidence on how to best help her with her gluten issues. She is 6 and she has been gluten-free for about 2 weeks now. We have noticed a very good reaction to being off gluten. I don't know if she has had a cc reaction... -
ARCHIVED Am I Missing Something?
sugarsue replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is helpful. I am still going back and forth but I think I really do want the test for her. She had a normal stool last night (first one almost all year) and had not had any of her bad diarrhea for over a week. But then tonight, it was back, really bad . She was scared and I could tell she did not feel well. We don't know what happened. I keep thinking... -
ARCHIVED Am I Missing Something?
sugarsue posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We went to dd's doctor today. He read her celiac panel and based on the results believes that she is gluten intolerant but does not have celiac. He admits that we just don't really know though but that further testing is not necessary since she obviously needs to be gluten free but he also said that I don't need to worry about cross contamination, just... -
I posted a week or so about my almost 6 yr old dd and her test results. We see her doctor tomorrow and I don't really know what to ask for. The suggestions from those who responded was that I should continue to search for some more answers since the test said that it could not rule out celiac for her and she had the high IgG and lower normal IgA......

ARCHIVED What Is Up With My Dd And Her Stools
sugarsue replied to nitu-752002's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, you just made me notice that my daughter's poop is not smelling as foul as it was. Her diarrhea is much better (she'd usually have one very bad one each day) but still it's not super formed now and seems to be changing daily. Now, she seems to have to poop almost everytime she goes. I can see that it must be her body working things out so to speak...
