  1. pogirl, I was diagnosed when I was 15, at that time I was suffering from wicked depression. I was put on depression medication before going gluten free. I saw a profound difference once being gluten free for awhile. I even got off my meds (I hated relying on medication). Now after 8 years gluten free I haven't taked medication 5 years. I still have my...
  2. I felt the same way for a long time. What I think it may be is the finding out you have Celiac is such a huge change in lifestyle so you feel so abnormal and when you find someone who sounds like they may have the same day you want to desperately to have someone in the flesh to talk too about it. Also because maintaining a gluten free diet is a full time...
  3. Mario, To begin with your villi most likely have not totally healed yet therefore are still somewhat flat. It does in fact take a couple of months for the villi to restore it's natural and healthy shape. I too, had massive damage to my villi and it took 3 months or more to get them back in shape. Yes the most minute amount of gluten can harm the villi....
  4. I would call the manufacturer of the one you like best. Isn't tonic water clear?? What artificial color could there be??
  5. Suzn I have found one, and you know I can't remember the name. It's in an orange box. Glutafin...maybe! I can't remember. Anyway, they were really good I ate cheese and crackers with them all the time. I'm from Canada, I'm not sure if we have the same type of stuff up here. Good Luck!!
  6. emsmom This used to happen to me all the time when I was younger. The doctors said there was nothing wrong with me. When I was in grade 6 I had to stay home for 2 weeks with a migraine so bad that I was convulsing. They had no idea why! Your doctor is not too bright, he has diagnosis of Celiac yet he wants to test for other things?!?! Not worth it too me...
  7. Corneygirl That's really bizarre, I found that I got alot better after doing yoga. Of course I did it at home without a mat so I was sure that I wasn't coming into contact with anything. What kind of soap do you use? Maybe it's not related to yoga at all but you just notice it after yoga? Just a thought.
  8. Ryebaby0, That is unusal that you should have to wait that long for a follow up. I would push to see a doctor to discuss the results. I went to school for hospital administration and I looked in my medical dictionary and this is what I came up with. Acute Cryptitis Inflammation of a follicle or glandular tubule, particularly in the rectum in which...
  9. I used Freeda vitamins for awhile they seemed to be fine. I use McCormick spices and wasn't aware of this change in their production line. I too am a little concerned about this, they are the only spiced I use!!!
  10. Connie, Below everyone's post you will see the Email and PM button. Just press those!!
  11. I found that same problem, I hear contradictions in our diet everyday. In the end I do what I think is best for me, not everyone is the same. I do know that MSG is okay on the gluten free front, but as stated before not REALLY good for anyone!!
  12. I would just like to add that Authentic Foods have the most amazing mixes I have ever tried. I had the Pancake and Cake mixes. The Pancake one was so good that my boyfriend ate only those ones when I had the mix. I made the Cake mix for my nephew's second birthday and was a huge hit!!! I HIGHLY recommend them!!

Stacie, My boyfriend makes me really good, gluten-free brownies!!! When he gets home I'll post the recipe. They are so good that all my family members and his (non celiacs) love them.
  14. soul04, No I haven't. Is it any good?!?
  15. schubach I agree with jhmom, I've heard every reason in the book on why I was sick until I was diagnosed. You are not a nervous mom, you are a vigilent mom for reading up on possible diagnosis for your little one. I say good job and good luck!!!

I think I will be making a trip out to Outback's. I need to try this brownie!! Ihave such a sweet tooth and I absolutely cannot cook or bake so all the better when a restaurant does it for me!!
  17. Ohhhh that mad me cry too!!! Don't you love the little things in life that can make it so worthwhile. Those words are worth alot more than a million dollars, they are words that make a child feel more "normal" and that is priceless!!!
  18. Sweetneet, Unfortunately you have to be on gluten for at least a week to show any signs of damaged villi for the biospy. I'd say don't go on it if you don't have a biopsy scheduled as you could do damage to you intestines when you don't need. I'd push for the biospy if you think you have it. I've haven't had any other tests to conclued Celiac so I don't...
  19. The earliest I remember symptoms were at the age of 5 or 6. However in the pictures of me at like 3 or 4 show a distended abdomen. I've been sick all my life and only diagnosed at 15.

Kathleen, Have you tried it? I heard that they are really good about the gluten free diet, but if this is true it's a whole other level!!!
  21. soul04 Have you tried their Corn Bread? It's so good.
  22. Jules, Don't worry eating gluten free is not as hard as you might think. Yes I know it seems that way but it will get easier. I am slightly overweight and go through terrible constipation so don't worry your not alone. As for fitting gluten free eating into your already busy lifestyle, it's easier to just stick with items that are naturally found in nature...
  23. Jessica I've never had a problem with dish soap, I use Palmolive.
  24. I've bought from Kinnikinnick and I liked their tapioca bread!! Where I live(In Canada) I get this great bread called Glutino. It's the same size as real bread, i smells like real bread!! I love it!! I won't eat anything else. I've gone through my share of trying out breads and even trying them in a bread maker. I don't eat bread as much though.
  25. When I cook I use extra virgin olive oil with no reaction!! Good Luck
