ARCHIVED Dizziness
jendenise replied to hapi2bgf's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I used to get dizzy spells after I ate something "glutened" mostly, but every once in a while I still get them. I get dizzy, and my head starts to hurt and I get nauseaus and feel really hot, like I have the flu almost, and then it just goes away. I don't think it's only based on what I eat because I keep a daily diet diary and sometimes I don't eat anything... -
WOW, I'm surprised you were able to make it to 2:00am, I was up until 10:00 last night and felt exhausted! Do you think it could be a deficiency type thing? I'm going to have my iron levels checked on Monday to see if I'm still anemic, I figure that could explain my never ending exhaustion, but if not then what? Glad to see I'm not alone, but then again I...

ARCHIVED Can We Look Forward To This Soon?
jendenise replied to Pegster's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I recently went to Coldstone (Ice cream shop) I asked if their hot fudge was gluten free and although the girl behinf the counter didn't know she let me take a look at the can to check and she also notified the shift manager who told me which ice creams were no-no's. Also Baskin Robbins lists "gluten free" and/or "wheat free" on their flavor labels. I recently... -

I'm 21 and I used to stay up until 3 or 4 in the morning and get up at 7 am for work. This was normal I never needed sleep I was always energetic. I was diagnosed 2 years ago, and up until about 8 months ago I barely ever slept. But now I sleep 7 to 10 hours a day and still feel exhausted a lot of the time. But I'm totally gluten free and except for a few...

ARCHIVED Symptoms Worse With Stress?
jendenise replied to ryeanddiet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm starting to really think that my stress levels affect how severely I react to gluten. I had lemon tea last night w/ a pineapple orange honey in it. Well, I didn't read the label first. (DON'T ask me why!) It had caramel coloring in it as well as "natural flavoring" (in honey! I mean really, it comes from bee's!) But, I got sick from it, about 3 in the... -
ARCHIVED Would These Resuls Make It Almost Certain?
jendenise replied to JennK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well it sounds like it's making her feel better, it's great that you know about the benefits of being gluten-free to help autism. If you do a challenge you're right on with timing them together. And, if she decides to be gluten-free anyways at least you are already knowledgeable about gluten-free foods. -
ARCHIVED Does This Sound Like Celiac?
jendenise replied to jt72978's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
jt72978, first of all I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with this. Iron and B12 are both difficult for those with celiac disease to absorb. Also, pregnancy is one of the things that can trigger the celiac disease (as well as stress or surgery). Because it runs in your family it's good that you got tested, because it could be celiac disease. If you're... -
ARCHIVED Can Celiac Disease Just Come Out Of Nowhere?
jendenise replied to Killarney's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Go to amys.com, if you're already vegetarian you've probably eaten something from Amy's Kitchen brand foods before, but they also have Gluten Free vegetarian food. If you live near a Whold Food's Market you can request that they special order foods for you, and they should have a list of Gluten Free foods also. -
And these are definitely Gluten Free? Thanks so much!

ARCHIVED Finally Facing Facts
jendenise replied to dragonkingbc's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was in the same place as you dragonkingbc. After being diagnosed with celiac disease I went from being ecstatic because I had an answer to my "issues" to being completely depressed and feeling helpless. For the first 6 months I ate only peanut butter and Strawberry Kiwi Propel. My nutritionist couldn't even force me to eat by explaining how much more sick... -
According to my hematologist the ice obsession comes from being anemic. I guess when you become too anemic your body begins craving ice, and if you aren't able to eat ice you may also start to crave dirt! I couldn't believe it when he explained it to me, I'd never thought being anemic would make me crave ice and never thought about dirt. I've craved ice...

Okay for the tax thing I just realized it's on the home page of Celiac.com, so... Scroll down towards the bottom under Celiac.com Site index, it's the 5th link from the bottom. Save all your receipts from stores, online purchases, etc... Just make sure you're very careful and honest with what you submit because they may audit you, and make sure that you were...

BRcoats, I just found out I have a total of 6 ovarian cysts on both ovaries. It just recently started bothering me so I had CT scans done and lo and behold total of 6. If these blood sugar stabilizer meds help I would love to ask my md about them. I don't want anymore problems and if this helps i'd love to know about it!

First of all, GREAT idea! There are more positive aspects of this than I originally thought. For me atleast, I don't gain weight! therefore I got to go shopping for a whole new wardrobe! Also, the gluten-free food I buy is a tax write off! sound too good to be true? Well it's not. Gluten free food can be submitted for a tax write off so start keeping all...

ARCHIVED Okay, I Am Confused...
jendenise replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I get my hair colored too, no problems with that in the past. But I think my shampoo may be affecting me??? I thought I'd read somewhere that those with celiac disease may become sensitive to other products down the line (such as hair color, shampoo, detergents, etc...) Can't recall where or when though. I'm gonna have to look through some old celiac disease... -
First off, I am so sorry you even have to think about going sugar free. I'm not, and can't fathom doing it, but my mom's fiancee is diabetic and there are some really good sugar free candies available in normal stores and health food stores. Diabeticfriendly.com has sugar free chocolate covered cherries that are good too, as well as many other sugar free...

Um, is sorbitol something those with celiac disease should avoid, or just another thing that anyone could be allergic to? What exactly is sorbitol? I had no idea about it if I should be avoiding it. I use crest w/ cavity protection and a RX flouride paste. I don't have any cavities or any sensitivity, and before I was diagnosed w/ celiac disease I used to...

Well, I guess you could try gluten-free and Dairy/Lactose free for a month or two and see what happens? I don't think it can do anymore harm. If you want to try, you can go to amys.com and find foods that are both gluten-free and Dairy free, and they actually taste good. Maybe you have celiac disease with a sensitivity to Dairy? Have you seen a nutritionist...
