  13. I just want to say that I completely understand how you feel. I was diagnosed w/ celiac disease when I was 18 (in college and living on my own as a vegetarian who didn't & still doesn't cook) Here's my survivor list: Microwave Electric skillet Toaster web address for amys.com (www.amys.com) they have gluten-free foods and all are vegetarian (gluten...

(pretty much I'm not into eating healthy unless it tastes good) Try Envirokidz snack bars (berry, peanut butter, chocolate), also ENER G Wheat Free Pretzels, I also toast a gluten-free bagel in the morning and spread w/ butter or peanut butter, wrap it in foil and it's still warm elevenish... good luck
  18. I'm 21 and have celiac disease, and I just wanted to say that your menu's look good, and I plan on trying some of them for myself, my office doesn't have a microwave so a lot of the lunch ideas are really good. Hope you guys don't mind my dropping in.
  19. When I get glutened I get terrible headaches that won't go away unless I take a prescription migraine medicine. I also get very irritable, I cry over everything and lose my patience and temper very easily. I also want to be left alone and hate everything, and then as quickly as it hits, it's gone. I feel terrible for my fiancee because I don't mean to be...
  20. Not sure wher you live but if you have wendy's and Burger King they have some gluten-free food, you can go to their websites to get the lists. Also, maybe the 2 of you could make a weekend of gluten-free shopping and either make some meals ahead of time that you could freeze and then eat whenever you get hungry or find microwaveable meals. My fiancee and...

    ARCHIVED It's Celiac!

Although you all may not agree wth my way of getting the seriousness across I like it: I let my food servers, cooks, etc know that I have Celiac Disease and that it is a SEVERE intollerance to wheat, gluten, barley, and oats, and that even cross contamination can harm me. Then I ask them if they know what Celiac Disease is and if they understand it, if they...
  23. Maybe before she gets moved in you could try to explain the basics i.e. wheat can hurt us, cross contamination is an issue, very serious and important, etc... Then, let her know that because you realize that she enjoys certain things that you must avoid you have set up a special drawer, shelf, cupboard, bin in the fridge, side of the freezer, etc, and own...
  24. I'm the only one in our household who is gluten-free, my fiancee isn't, and his 7 year old daughter doesn't have to be, but she prefers a lot of my foods to the "regular" foods. I let them make the decision and if my fiancee wants something normal he has to make it, mostly because I don't have a clue how to make it and I can't taste it to test it. However...
  25. I doubt you're feeling queasy about blood and needles because of celiac disease. Although anything's possible, I had to go through hundreds of blood tests weekly as well as iron treatments through IV's, and I'm clumsy so I'm constantly cutting or hurting myself and except for the uncomfortable feelings it doesn't bother me. However, my fiancee, whom I love...
