  1. Oh, believe me I'm . I'd like to use it somewhere on him besides his backside. I'm going to soak it in hot water with dish detergent tonight, and then do the vinegar soak and wash again. Hopefully it will work, because I can't afford to go and get another one. Thanks for the tips. Too bad I will have to test it to see if it worked. If I get sick I'll...
  2. My son cooked grilled cheese sandwiches (with regular white bread) in my Paula Deen non stick skillet. It has about three very small scratches in the coating, and up until now I wasn't too worried about them. Can I still use this skillet, or do I need to get another one?

    ARCHIVED New Format

Love the new look. Really miss seeing the locations of everyone. This really helped me when someone posted about a store, restaurant, etc. that was in my area of the country.
  4. My daughter heard back from Wal-Mart. Here's their response: Thank you for your contacting us regarding our Great Value Italian Diced Tomatoes. We recognize the importance of labeling gluten-free products appropriately and apologize for the confusion caused when a secondary allergen warning is placed on a product labeled "gluten-free." It has come to...
  5. I thought that labeling food allergens was the law now. Under the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA), food labels are required to state clearly whether the food contains a "major food allergen." The law identifies as a major food allergen any of eight allergenic foods: milk; eggs; fish such as bass, flounder, and cod; crustacean shellfish...
  6. Thanks, ENF. I'll get the Caltrate. I've heard some people here are a little wary of Centrum and Centrum Silver. I appreciate your quick reply!
  7. I was diagnosed with osteopenia in my right hip today. Anyone know of any gluten-free calcium supplements? Do I need a vitamin D and a magnesium supplement also? I have a Wal-Mart and a health food store close by, but the closest GNC Nutrition Center is 30 miles away. I don't have medical insurance, so a Rx wasn't an option. I need an OTC. Sorry if I posted...
  8. I've also noticed that they are resetting their shelves and not carrying well-known gluten-free items anymore. They took my Gluten Free Pantry brownies away.
  9. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  10. Thanks for the replies, everyone. Yes, I think cooking there will indeed be unrealistic. I love the idea of cooking my food at home and freezing it to take there, and pre-chopping my veggies! That sounds much easier. Unfortunately the closest Whole Foods is over 100 miles away, and the closest Kroger is over 30 miles away. I live in a small...
  11. Thanks Momma Goose, mushroom and Wenmin for your replies. I don't even own a toaster, and I'm sure not using theirs, so I guess I'll skip the Van's Waffles. I've never seen them before. Does Wal-Mart carry them? The closest Whole Foods is over 100 miles away. I eat only fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and meat. Maybe I could keep all my meat in...
  12. I'm a personal assistant/caregiver. Next month I am scheduled to stay in a client's home and provide round the clock 24 hour care. There is gluten everywhere in this house. Wheat bread crumbs all over the kitchen, (client's daughter bakes her own bread) and the kids take food into other rooms, drop food, etc. The client's grandson is on a special food additive...
  13. I get angry too. Like when my kids visit and they order pizza. Bless their hearts, they eat it outside and won't bring it in my house, and that was their decision, not mine. I get angry when I have to go to the bathroom, because I practically lived in there for months and was just sick of looking at the bathroom. Or when I'm driving and I pass restaurants...
  14. No possibility of crumbs. I live by myself and bake my own gluten-free bread, so there's no bread containing wheat in the house. And eggs don't bother me, so I don't think it's the Miracle Whip. I dunno either, maybe I'm just having a bad digestive day? Cool avatar, Salax! Thanks for your replies.
  15. Anyone else have problems with WalMart's Great Value products? The ketchup says gluten-free, but I'm wondering about cross-contamination. I ate some last night, and some Miracle Whip. I'm having a lot of nausea today, and making quite a few visits to the bathroom. I also seem to have problems when I use their vegetable oil, clearly labeled gluten-free....
