  1. Hi MaggieMay!!! I have celiac and PCOS. PCOS diagnosed in 1983, celiac this past January. Both inherited from Mom. Not sure if it's related. PCOS is hormone based. Celiac is auto-immune based. Interested to see if anyone else answers this post.
  2. Hey Hon! Just stopping in to say hello :-)

  3. I saw Melinda Dennis in her celiac clinic this week. She's a hard core nutritionist who has had celiac for 18 years. Just full of knowledge, very up to date, advises the FDA, etc. I found I was in good shape as far as avoiding gluten, maybe be more careful about eating a lot of stuff made in factories that also handle wheat. Okay, fine. Gave me a bunch...
  4. Please let us know your results. Make sure to stay on the gluten until after the biopsy. The pancreatitis is probably due to your high triglycerides. Try to eat fat free until it clears up. That often helps. Me, I had IBS diarrhea alternating with constipation, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, depression, obesity, allergic rhinitis, asthma, hypertension...
  5. Before diagnosis I had IBS-A and depression, fatigue and brain fog as my major symptoms. I delibrately glutened myself once out of frustration of not being able to eat what I wanted. 3 hours later I had stomach pain and threw up several times. It took me 3 days to really feel back to normal. A doctor told me it might not be the gluten and...
  6. Hi Fiore, I am sorry you are going through this. It sounds horrible. Well, if the obvious things have been ruled out, it's time to look at the not so obvious. Did the symptoms start after the hysterectomy? Was it a vaginal hysterectomy? There's always a possibility of nerve damage from surgery, and your symptoms sound like it could be nerve...
  7. I actually saw this on a mexican restaurant menu. Gotta givem credit for trying, huh?
  8. I have positive blood work (endomysial antibody IgA) and feel better off gluten. I decided not to have a biopsy because I didn't want to go back on gluten for it. So one day I was depressed about being gluten-free and I decided to eat a bunch of gluten to see what happened. Two hours later I had stomach pain and vomiting. It was weird because I never...
  9. The celiac disease causes vitamin deficiencies, not the gluten-free eating. The people who gain weight are usually those who had lost weight from the celiac. If you eat high fiber there will be no problem with constipation.
  10. Rachel, I was just diagnosed Celiac. But I've been a compulsive overeater/binge eater for 30 years. Telling me I couldn't have something would lead to deprivation, then a binge. Over and over again. What helped me was the bulletin boards on www.something-fishy.org, said to be the best eating disorder website around. Yes, you are eating disordered. Don...
  11. Hey Tabbiekatz!, how's it going. Lost another pound this week, so it looks like we're on the same schedule!
  12. Thank God for Mexican food!!!!! I cook a lot at home, which has made the transition easier. We're living off of Mexican and Meditteranean food, since they both have a lot of rice recipes. I have refused thus far trying the gluten-free pasta and bread. I'm hoping when I finally break down and try it, I will have forgotten what glutenized stuff tastes...
  13. Hi Tabbiekatz! I too am obese (BMI now a bit under 40). I've been diagnosed and gluten-free about 4 weeks now. I pee'd a lot the first week, and my clothes are looser. I'm surprised I don't have a lot of weight loss, only 4 pounds, because it looks like I've lost 20! But I'll take it.....
  14. My EMA IgA Ab came back positive at 1:80. Negative is <1:5. Since it's 100% specific, I guess I have celiac. My question is - will I need to have a gluten free household? DH is gonna freak out if he can't have gluten either.
  15. Hi everyone, I hope someone can help me understand my test results. Because I was complaining of extreme fatigue, my doctor decided to screen me for celiac. She only tested tTG IgG antibodies. The result came back - 22.4. 0-20 normal 20-30 weakly positive >30 strongly positive Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
