  1. Doctors have a bad habit of cutting corners on blood tests as they cost money. This Mayo Clinic Celiac testing algorithm Open Original Shared Link is the best and most readable testing strategy I have found. Was the Gliadin Gliadin Antibody, IgG >100 U/ml H Reference Range: <11 U/mL antibody test the Deamidated test? The older test...
  2. You say your blood tests came back normal but that doesn't tell us enough. What tests did you have. Doctors often cut corners so your saying the tests were normal means nothing. Take a look at the Mayo Clinic Testing Protocol at Open Original Shared Link and let us know how your tests compare?
  3. Yes a Colonoscopy can confirm Celiac if the doctor doing it does a biopsy of the intestines after reaching the end of the colon. When I had my Colonoscopy, the GI doc did a Celiac biopsy since he was already in there and could get the biopsy from my lower intestines... If the GI doc only examines the colon as per a normal colonoscopy, no it does no good....
  4. A couple important things you should know at this point. 5 Days off Gluten followed by loading up for a few days will probably not negatively effect the blood tests. Make sure you get the RIGHT blood tests because many HMO's or doctors like to cut corners and don't do the testing correctly. Here is a link to the Mayo Clinic's testing protocol and its...
  5. I found one of the best surgeons on the West Coast, Kasey Lee. He was part of the original Stanford team that developed many of the surgical techniques. He has a private practice in Palo Alto CA near Stanford. The surgery was a combination of nasal and throat alterations based on his experience. The name of the throat surgery was a Pharyngoplasty but each...
  6. VERY DOUBTFUL Take a look at this testing procedure - You need it - Open Original Shared Link Did they do a Celiac Biopsy while doing the endoscopy? Its a shame if they were in there and didn't! Have you done the Comprehensive Celiac Panel Labcorp version Celiac Disease Comprehensive Antibody Profile Synonyms: Deamidated Gliadin...
  7. My Kaiser Docs ONLY tested TTG IgA and yet I took the Labcorp Comprehensive panel myself almost 2 years ago and only failed the DGA IgA badly at 10.4 with a 0-10 range. I passed all the other tests in the panel. According to the Mayo Clinic, given their reputation, the Kaiser Docs cut corners by doing only the one test plus they violated the current recommendations...
  8. No it didn't because I already had surgery. I was unable to sleep with CPAP so had surgery prior to my Gluten discovery. Prior to the surgery, I had a sleep study and also purchased a $300 pulse-oximeter which monitored my movements, heart rate and most of all my Oxygen saturation while I slept. Normally ones O2 saturation should remain in the high 90% range...
  9. I found this very helpful. Its the Mayo Clinic's Celiac diagnosis flow chart. Check it out. Its about the most straightforward way to describe the standard method for diagnosing Celiac. Open Original Shared Link
  10. If one tests positive for Deamidated Gliadin Abs or DGA IgA with a Labcorp 10.4 and range of 0-10 But has 2 biopsies come back negative along with DGS IgG, iTG IgG/IgA, endomysial IgA and Immunoglobulin A But eliminating Gluten as best I could improved symptoms initially Does the high DGA test suggest Gluten sensitivity when supported by the reduction...
  11. I had a Labcorp comprehensive Celiac panel which came up DGA IgA = 10.4 range 0.0 - 10.0 DGA IgG = 2.2 range 0.0 - 10.0 iTG IgA = 1 range 0-3 iTG IgG = 1 range 0-5 Endomysial IgA = negative Immunoglogulin A, Qn, serum = 201 range = 70-400 Opinions on the meaning of the very high DGA IgA? Out of range high! about 2 years...
  12. Has anyone ever found a way to test foods for the Gluten content. Lets say one has a set of foods that say they are gluten free but still having symptoms. It would be nice to be able to actually verify there is no gluten in a product I'm trusting. I can't help but wonder if cross contamination occurs sporadically when a wheat product just happened to be processed...
  13. Thanks. I've almost stopped eating out and I'm careful. I can do better with cross contamination or oddball sources. I'll try tightening up more and avoiding dairy for a week and see what happens again. Most of the symptoms originally abated 90% but they have slowly come back and gotten even worse. Its been almost 2 years that I've been off Gluten...
  14. I'm looking for competent medical advice for what I believe is Gluten sensitivity related problems in the Sonoma County area or even greater Bay Area if needed. I've had to sort out a number of chronic medical problems over the last 10 or so years. Starting in my late 40's along with enormous stress, I began encountering a number of medical problems that...
  15. Hi... I recently found Glutino's Gluten Free Dream Cookies Vanilla and Chocolate Creme for $99 per box. I was elated because I have loved Glutino's Wafers and the price was incredible. After eating them modestly, 1 package over 2 days, I woke up feeling awful. The feelings was similar to how I had felt before going Gluten free. It could be a coincidence but...
