  1. Thanks for your reply!! Yes, when my symptoms started they were strong and undeniable. For me though, it only took 2 years, a relatively short amount of time, to be diagnosed. Weird story- 2 years ago I became lethargic, barely able to get out of bed, lost my period, achy joints, low grade fever and sore throat so bad i went to urgent care thinking...
  2. It seems as though nearly everyone I've read about with Celiac or gluten intolerance had the main symptom of diarrhea. Well, I had other digestive symptoms, but never diarrhea. It was more like feeling constantly bloated, like i had to "fart" and actually seeing a gas bubble move through my intestines! But, it would never come out. Also, severe cramping...
  3. So many of the posts are about having problems sleeping.....but I'm so blessed because I've been sleeping sooooooooooo much better since going gluten-free, and it's only been 9 days. Two nights I slept for 9 hours! I haven't done that since before I had my daughter 5 1/2 years ago! I usually get 7 hours of sleep at the most. I think I'm sleeping better...
  4. you are so fortunate to have figured out the offending foods! i doubt any dr. would say, "maybe you should try cutting out almonds, bananas and avocados." glad to hear you're doing better.
  5. really,Tearza? i love that name. I have a daughter Trinity, son Tyler, and if i ever have another daughter that's what her name would be!

  6. I have a little sister with a name very similar to your posting name!

  7. Yeah, my church is very flexible as well. It's not the "bread" that matters so much as what it represents. God knows my heart and wouldn't care if it was a tomato as long as I was sincere in my repentance and remembrance of Him and what He did for me. It's just something I failed to anticipate!
  8. I've only been gluten free for 8 days now, and thought I was well prepared due to my innate nature to research and plan. Well, I cam across a situation today which I completely overlooked.. We had communion this morning in church-and I couldn't eat the cracker! I got so sad I nearly cried. Anyway, guess I'll have to start bring a rice cake from...
  9. Is it possible you're pregnant? I know I was famished and fatigued constantly starting about 2 weeks after conception! just a thought.
  10. sixty two- thanks for all that great restaurant info!!! very good to know.
  11. Roda- sounds like you have things under control in your house-yay! i'm only a week into being gluten free and my hubby is so incredibly supportive-it's almost supernatural.... anyway, a thought about your baking stone or other stuff you don't know what to do with anymore-do you have freecycle in your area? it's a great way to know where your stuff is going...
  12. try www.trueprotein.com it's basically build your own protein from flavor, to every and all ingredients.
  13. It's such a shame that sooo many dr.s are quick to prescribe a pill instead of a diet or lifestyle change....it all comes down to $$$. If they see you can cope without meds, their relationship with the pharmaceutical industry will suffer greatly. anyway, non-related to celiac, but relevant as far as dr.s and prescriptions: my 18 year old step son was...
  14. I've only been gluten free for 3 days now, but I feel like a completely different person! I am normally VERY moody, snap easily at my daughter and on the verge of tears very often. I feel so great! I think maybe some people who get grumpier after going gluten free may not be getting enough carbs in their system. I know that carbs can affect mood, and...
  15. I am very new to this as well-2 days in!! plus i'm lactose intolerant. so, i can completely empathize, but there are TONS of things you can eat. 1-stick with fresh fruits and veggies-big ole salads. maybe you don't like salad b/c you don't have the right veggies on it-get creative!! 2-chicken, tuna, salmon packs, shrimp, turkey 3-yogurt if you can do...
  16. Hey! I'm new here , newly diagnosed, and I'm from Wisconsin! a little town right off I-94 between Madison and Milwaukee. I'm heading to Pick N Save in Oconomowoc today to get some gluten free items. YAY!
  17. Hi, I am new here also! what a Godsend this place is! Just diagnosed two days ago...and February 21st was my first gluten-free day ever. WOW!!! i felt great all day and again today. I hope it's not a non-related coincidence. I'm going shopping today for lots of "specialty" items without gluten. I've already found a bunch of "normal" food that doesn...
