What a great site!! Thank you. -
It was so hard for me to see through it because I am thankful to him for finding this in the first place. It has been ten years of countless drs and bills..so there was a measure of trust...my primary dr didn't believe it...so when he mentioned this I guess I knew deep down it sounded off... but then again I thought the gluten sounded off... thanks you...

I thought cash grab too... And yes he is a nutritionist as well, certified...but still...I don't know.

My chiro is the one who was the first to tell me about being gluten free. For that I am eternally grateful. I saw him tonight and was talking about this past weekend and the screw up with gluten. He told me he wants me to do this green tea fast for two days followed by 3 days of a shake while slowly reintroducing foods. He wonders if I have other food issues...

wow...ok.. thank you... I guess I have some mantras to learn...thank you! -
Yesterday at church, we had a potluck. I was prepared, brought my own food and even made a gluten free dessert. I had down what I needed to say and thought I was ready. I got there and my church family was loving and supportive, told me they had friends who were gluten-free, they had made dishes just for me... etc....I didn't know how to refuse. I made sure...

I was wondering if those further along on this journey could help me. I love french toast and tried to use Kinnickinnick brown bread but it didn't work. Is there a bread that might work better? My best friend had recipe for homemade hot chocolate that I love but it uses Nesquick, since it needs to be powder, does anyone know of any substitutions? ...

Exactly what I think, I hate to offend people, nor do I like to be the center of attention. And I do miss the desserts, I keep thinking I will just try one.. but I know better and its not worth getting sick.. thank you for all the encouragement..this board is the best.

cbear6301 replied to Wispyshadow's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ok. I was starting to freak out because my family is not gluten free, just me and we really don't have the money to throw everything away and start over. I can breath now.. thank you. This is so scary and complicated. I do have both of those books and neither stated throwing everything away so I just wasn't sure. I want to do what is right and heathly for... -

cbear6301 replied to Wispyshadow's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have been trying to read in books, and online exactly how to clean the gluten off? Is there a way or do we really need to throw everything away? I am blown away by this.. I had no idea. Can someone explain or point me to the right direction on understanding this? thank you. -

you made me chuckle...you are so right. when i had my mom over and told her to only bring raw veggies, i thought it was safe.. but then she brought other food assuring me that she was careful...I trusted her but I think that was a bad idea..today the kids were with her and when they came home they told me she had no clue. She kept giving them cereal and saying...

I am so sorry for those who have joined me today with migraines, what a terrible way to start the week. I have felt like a new person until today. I cannot believe it.. I have been so tired and in so much pain today, slept most of it away. It is frustrating to me not to be able to pinpoint what did it, I was keeping a food diary for the first week but felt...

I am fairly new to this, but need help. I was told that gluten causes my severe migraines. Since going gluten-free 13 days ago my vertigo and migraines have ceased. This morning, I woke up with a migraine so I imagine I ate something with gluten. The problem is I can't find the culprit and don't know how far back to go. Is this what happens when you have...

And I had heard that so I chose there first, but the employees were flustered and their answer was that I shouldn't eat there. When asking for a manager, he told me the same thing. I am new to this but I guess I didn't do something right. They made me feel awful. Wendy's didn't do that, they were so generous and accomodating. I am glad you have good experiences...

I am still very new to this and ended up out all day on saturday. I was so hungry. My hubby first stopped at mcd's but they were rude and couldn't even give me a nutritional menu..I know this is my responsibility but come on. So I was upset and hungry.. my husband decided to try wendy's- they were incredible. They told us about how they handle allergies down...

cbear6301 replied to teacherkd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My dr just did the same thing to me..actually two doctors..my insurance doesn't cover it so they told me to try the gluten free diet. It has been 12 days and I have not had one migraine, nor vertigo spell and various other ailments are gone..I feel more energetic and seem to get better every day..there is not enough money in the world for me to go back on...
