The gluten-free Greener's Achievements

  1. Cadbury was recently bought by Kraft, and the eggs are now being manufactured by Hershey's. It is the new ones (Hershey's) that contain high fructose corn syrup, whereas the old ones were always made with glucose syrup from wheat. Glucose syrup is distilled, just like distilled vinegar - for this reason, it is considered to be gluten-free (the syrup contains...
  2. I have called Amy's regarding that issue. The representative told me that their gluten-free foods and wheat foods are made on separate days - greatly minimising cross-contamination risks. She also assured me that all equipment is cleaned very thoroughly. Granted, this was about 2 years ago...so if you are still unsure, my suggestion is to call the company...
  3. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  4. The Grocery Outlet here in Olympia also had the Glutino cookies for 3/$1, and Glutino pretzels for 2/$1! They've been selling Mi-del "oreos" for a few months now, too. I really hope they start carrying gluten-free items regularly. Since it's a discount store, the stock is always so variable...I hope if we let the managers know how many people *really* appreciate...

(Apparently it is very unusual to get them at such a young age.) For the next 8 years I got at least 1 to 2 migraines per month, and had non-migraine headaches on an almost daily basis...
  6. Red Robin's fries are gluten-free. And very yummy. The Red Robin near where I live is very accommodating to any kind of allergen concern, and even keeps a list of which foods, condiments, etc are safe. They use a separate fryer for the fries than for the breaded things.
  7. Here is my understanding, I hope I'm explaining it correctly: To be certain about a diagnosis, you probably should get the biopsy done rather than just relying on blood work. The biopsy samples will be evaluated on the Marsh classification scale, which rates the level damage to the intestinal villi. There is a level of damage that must be present for it...
  8. Thank you for the recipe! I didn't have any time to bake a loaf of bread before class today, with all the measuring of flours and mixing and waiting for the yeast to rise...and I just saw this, so I tried it right away with sorghum flour instead of the rice. It was quite nice with almond butter and jam! All I had to microwave it in was a Pyrex measuring...
