  1. My son is very small also (3%). He is however doing well after we recently started the gluten free diet. We became very mindful that every bite that goes into his mouth is calorie rich! We also cut out dairy to give him a chance to fully recover for a while. Even without dairy we were able to come home with a 7 oz gain after his last app. Great, considering...
  2. I hadn't noticed a tar smell, but it was so super stinky, it could easily clear a room! Poop was a big deal with him, because it was uncomfortable for him to poop, even though he was going 4-6 times a day. We are down to twice a day, normal smelling, and no uncomfortableness with it! Thank you for your input. We are more resolved to the fact that we are...
  3. I need a good dr for my 18 month old son in Oregon or Washington. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I am so frustrated right now and would love any advice or support! My 18 month old son has had a long history of fussiness, 4-6 STINKY poops a day, rejecting foods and growth issues (born in 95% down to 3%). Fast forward to a month or so ago when they finally did a stool sample and found fat in his stool , leading them to request that we do the biopsy for...
  5. I am a teacher and I appreciate all the responses you are getting! It is true that you are right to do this before school. Every parent wants to meet the teacher on the first day and tell them about their child's special needs. Asking to involve the principal, and school nurse (or secretary-whom ever your child will see when they go to the office sick...
  6. Whole foods carries Vanilla coconut milk from SO Delicious, which my son drinks a gallon a week of. They also carry SO Delicious dairy, soy free, coconut yogurt. And we use coconut oil and butter in and on just about everything. Try shredded coconut in the cereal also...really yummy! Good luck, we had a great weight gain at the last check, thanks to the...
  7. I am dealing with the same failure to thrive. Mine was born in the 95th percentile and is down to the 3rd. He is doing his biopsy in one month. If you feel that something is wrong, trust yourself!!! Mine didn't have the typical symptoms so it had taken this long to diagnose, but I have known all along something was wrong. Are you seeing a pediatrician...
  8. My son recently tested positive for Celiacs on a stool sample. The dr told me we have to do a biopsy to confirm, so the nurse called me to schedule it and told me the dr is going out of the country and we can't get the biopsy done for a month! I am in Oregon and there are only seven GI docs. I have been told that we should not start doing the gluten free...
