ARCHIVED Multiple Drug Trials Going On Relating To Celiac
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I say, give me that hookworm. It's said to not cause those problems at all. It just lives peacably, causing no damage (occasionally it sucks some blood, but you have more than enough and it won't affect you), and modifies the immune system to not attack gluten. That's it. -
Awesome. Thanks. It certainly can't hurt, so I'll order it next time I order a book (I already have this in my cart).

How do I use it? Is there a way to squeeze out only a drop or two at a time? Would "Nutribiotic - Gse Liquid Concentrate, 4 fl oz liquid" be a good brand to try? I am hoping I do have Candida, so I could kill it. Though my symptoms don't quite line up with it (I have some). Well, if I can get Grapefruit Seed Extract cheap and try it, I will. Are there...

ARCHIVED The Greatest Children's Book Ever Written?
CGally81 posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm proud to present to you, Open Original Shared Link, the greatest children's book ever published in 1990. It's the only kids' book to feature an overdosed horse lying next to a blunt. Go check it out, and buy copies for your own kids! (Or as a conversation piece to have lying around) Click that link. Funny stuff. -
In my search to learn as much about potential remedies for celiac and its related problems as possible, I came across grapefruit seed extract. From what's being said about it, it's sounding like the best thing ever (yeah, I know, don't believe hype in general). It's said to really help kill off candida, should I have that problem. Anyway, what do you guys...

ARCHIVED Movie Popcorn?
CGally81 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Since I'm in the "hungry all the time" phase of this wonderful disease, and Christmas vacation with my family is coming real soon, I'm very afraid of what might happen during a trip to the movies (we usually go to one every Christmas). Is there any chance of gluten being in the popcorn at the movies theater? I can't take a safe snack like peanuts into the... -
ARCHIVED Multiple Drug Trials Going On Relating To Celiac

I found that there are places online that sell hookworms you can use on yourself. I sent an inquiry to one. If there's a good chance of this working, I may well shell out the thousands of dollars it costs (after all, my credit union account exists for emergencies, and doesn't health count as an emergency?), and go get myself infected. Open Original Shared... -
ARCHIVED Multiple Drug Trials Going On Relating To Celiac

You know more on this subject than I do. If they can help solve many people's problems, that would be just awesome. What do you know about this? How far along are the studies, and what has been found? I for one would love to have it to guard against any additional problems Celiac could cause. As someone with Asperger's, I wouldn't go rush to eat gluten... -
From Open Original Shared Link Q. Are there any other ways to control celiac disease? A. Right now, it is only diet. But there are a lot of companies coming up with pills. One of them is actually almost in Phase III trials in adults, and it is thought that it will come out in the next few years. The idea is that people who take this pill would be...

Coated tongue? I don't think so. Bad taste in my mouth? I somewhat have one now, I think.

Okay, so many people say that going hungry all the time is common and is a result of the body requiring nutrients. I find it strange that it doesn't happen to other Celiacs, like the supervisor in my office who had lost 50 pounds at age 26 when he was diagnosed, but didn't go hungry all the time like I am. But still, many sites say this is normal, so... ...

Who would test me? The endocronologist? I have an appointment with one on January 25 (the earliest I could get!). Are there home remedies for such a thing as well? Someone mentioned putting some baking soda in water and drinking it down. My doctor said he doesn't think H. pylori causes hunger. I had called to try to make an appointment specifically for...

Allegedly, 95% of Celiacs have either HLA DQ2 or HLA DQ8, which I was tested for and do not have. Is the number lower than that? What are the other genes? I do feel like while knowledge of Celiac/gluten intolerance is increasing, doctors are still not quite caught up to the newest knowledge. At my gastroentrologist's office, I was given a pamphlet on celiac...

A question: did you eat a trace amount of gluten and still get glutened, or did you try it for a normal-sized gluten food? Supposedly DPP IV and Glucoamylase are the big things in enzymes now. Or do they only help people on the autism spectrum, and not celiacs? Our silver bullet would probably be something that kills the gliadin. There are people...

I used to eat 2 cans of tuna fish a day, on average, for several months. Not smart. I got nasty headaches that started to recede (they come back occasionally, but they're less common now) when I stopped eating tuna earlier this week. Anyway, being in the "hungry all the time" phase, and being that my body needs nutrients (I take a multi-vitamin that's...

Okay, this is a long shot, but I think I read elsewhere on a Celiac website that the Papaya chewables were good for reducing hunger, somehow. I don't understand how. But what do you folks know about this? Can digestive enzymes somehow help the body with food? I mean, that's kind of their job, right? But in what ways? (And no, I don't plan on using these to...

Monounsaturated fat. The healthiest kind of fat there is. Both also contain lots of fiber, and peanut butter contains protein.
-
Olive oil? What about it? That a healthy fat source? You think I should use it on many things?

I leave for Christmas vacation next Wednesday. How do I get tested? It would be nice to solve this problem before I'm away from home for 10 days.

It was suggested in another topic that a part of my constant hunger might not just be my body screaming for nutrients, but also an h. pylori infection. Now, here's what I experience. Frequent hunger (i.e. lose energy, can't focus, blood sugar goes down, etc.), rumbles in my front, and left side. Sometimes I get the rumbles as soon as I *start* eating or...

There's plenty of - mostly healthy - fat in my peanut butter and popcorn. I now try soymilk, which has some unsaturated fat - nearly 1/3 of its calories. And peanut butter is mostly fat.

I never took anything having to do with thyroid problems. I don't know if I was tested for them or not. My first blood test, which was for many things, including diabetes-related things, came back normal. I don't know if thyroid was part of the test or not. I posted the results in this topic: Blood results normal except fasting blood sugar See any thyroid...

ARCHIVED Multiple Drug Trials Going On Relating To Celiac
CGally81 replied to CGally81's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would gladly be infected with hookworm if it means not having to worry about cross contamination for the rest of my life (or at least the next few years, as long as the hookworm stays alive). -
I take a multivitamin by Pioneer that has lots of minerals and nutrients in it. Someone here said it helped with her hunger. If my body wants nutrients, would that help? I take it every day. In fact, I stopped taking it for a week, last week, because I was having headaches and I thought they might have been caused by too much calcium (it was instead too much...

People were saying that increasing their protein helped, now you're saying that too much protein is bad? Anyway, I do eat frequently. Breakfast. Early morning snack 1, 2, 3... lunch, afternoon snack 1, 2, 3, dinner, evening snack 1, sometimes 2... It's horrible that I even HAVE to eat that often, but that's how bad the hunger is. Right now, my muscles...
