Hello everyone! Since I'm on break now for the holidays, I thought I'd do a side illustration on Celiac. I just wanted to get some opinions on what they'd like to see. I'm in the concept stage right now, I was thinking of the environment being the spongy carpet like tubes, while in the distance there's a witch garbed in an old farmers outfit with a cloak...

ARCHIVED Hair Thinning/not Growing Anymore
Brittany2 replied to khennigan1's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hello, Another thing it could be from is your thyroid, problems with the thyroid can come up in association with celiac. So when you go to your doctor next insist for them to test the Free T4, Free T3, AB and TPO levels, that displays if you have enough thyroid hormone circulating through your body, since that can be a cause of hair loss as well. The first... -
Hey everyone, it's cool that a thread like this was started. I actually switched to gluten free a month and a half ago about half way through college. The convient thing for me has been Art Institute's use of apartments as dorms. It's such a handy thing to have a nice kitchen. I'm still new to what's good and quick, but usually I'll just make instant...

ARCHIVED Hairloss, Headaches, Fatigue--your Advice Is Needed!
Brittany2 replied to Teaching-ND's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I understand totally where you are coming from, you sound quite similar to me and a few other people on here I'm sure. It's always a cluster of odd symptoms similar to these that point towards it. There are a few options you have, I'll explain as best as possible but more seasoned people on here can assist more! The first is to get the Celiac blood... -
ARCHIVED Giant Eagle Products
Brittany2 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello! So I've done a ton of searching on the web and its hard to find anything about Giant Eagle's ground turkey, does anyone know if it is gluten free. It lists natural flavors ugh, so I'm not quite sure. I really want to make it and have it with dinner today, but I'm nervous of having a reaction. I did find this list though and thought I'd share... -
ARCHIVED 'normal' Thyroid Levels
Brittany2 replied to Brittany2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks, yeah I really don't trust my doctors opinion that its fine as per what my TSH levels are, I've already read a ton of things and I'm worried as to what is causing it. I've come to be really skeptical with most doctors, they do know a lot but they cant know everything. One needs to be their own advocate! Many have just pushed me under the rug because... -
ARCHIVED 'normal' Thyroid Levels
Brittany2 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello I hope everyone's well and excited for Christmas! Anyways, I have never been diagnosed with Celiac disease, but the gluten free diet has been an amazing change. Auto immune diseases do run in my family so that is why I suspected it with the symptoms I had. They've since luckily gone away, but I'm worried about my persistently low thyroid levels.... -
ARCHIVED Why Is This Such A Popular Condition For People To Self Diagnose With?
Brittany2 replied to silvertail's topic in Publications & Publicity
Interesting thing to ask, but its self diagnosed only because many doctors either don't know about it or think its that real of a problem. Many believe its in ones head, or only a thing of childhood. Many times when symptoms are shown early the doctors tests come up as false negatives, so the final choice to make them feel better is to try the gluten... -
ARCHIVED Can You Test False Negative?
Brittany2 replied to Dani Doll's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello to you! There is still hope, and yes there is always the possibility of a negative biopsy, medical science is a fickle thing and with such a vast area of intestines to investigate they could have missed the actual sections that show signs of damage, but you'll hear a lot that many people here have so many negative tests. For years in fact when their... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Not Dream At All?
Brittany2 replied to aaronify's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would always dream a ton, almost remember the whole story of one dream a night. When my symptoms were kicking in hard core my sleep was so restless and I hardly dreamed, I know I did somewhat, but I think that was also a part of my fatigue my lack of long lasting REM. Since I've gone gluten free my sleep is restful and really deep again with involving dreams... -
ARCHIVED Tazo Lattes
Brittany2 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hello, I just found out some info that is important for all those that love tazo tea lattes. I called the company since I love having a Chai latte from Starbucks every now and then, but they said they could not disclose what the natural ingredients under the label was. The lady on the phone was really nice and helpful but she said since Gluten was... -
Hi all! Thanks for the replies. Luckily I've had a gluten free shampoo on hand that my grandma sent to me awhile ago, hoping the natural product would help my head. Its Desert Essence Organics, I use the Volumizing Apple one specifically but I'm sure there are others. It specifically states gluten free on the back. It's been helping, my heads less...

ARCHIVED Iced Coffees
Brittany2 replied to Brittany2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks, yeah since I've looked and am glad to hear Starbucks is fine, but there's an independent coffee shop I love to go to that I'm really curious about. My biggest wonder was with the Bruggaccino, there's nothing in the search for it. -
ARCHIVED Iced Coffees
Brittany2 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I enjoy coffee every so often, especially when it's closer to finals week, it gives a really good boost to pull the late/all nighters I need, or I just enjoy having them because of the taste. Where is everyone's favorite coffee places that are definitely gluten free? Does anyone know about Brugger's, how about their Brueggaccinos? I read the ingredients... -
Speaking of fingers, there was also a symptom that I saw when researching that my gastro also mentioned at my appointment. Clubbed fingers are a thing to look out for, bulging at the knuckles while tapering in between. He said it was sign of a disease. Also round nails in their profile view is part of the clubbed fingers. Open Original Shared Link Theres...

ARCHIVED Support Groups Near Pittsburgh?
Brittany2 replied to a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Its nice to hear so many people are in Pittsburgh! I live in downtown going to the Art Institute. I'd be nice to talk to someone in the area! I never got an official diagnosis, but I know being gluten free is such an improvement! Oh I noticed that Cereal was missed, did you know that Chex was gluten free? There's also the EnviroKids cereals in the organic... -
ARCHIVED Ibs Vs Celiac Disease
Brittany2 replied to amiller1030's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That's what my gastro said to, he believed that when you have IBS it really is only a large symptom of a hidden issue, that it is probably from the many diseases that man kind hasn't discovered yet. Its just so easy for doctors to say, you have IBS, then give you medicine for it... When I started to take the medicine while eating gluten I would feel extremely... -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Negative :(
Brittany2 replied to NurseJo98's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I entirely understand, that's the way I felt once my biopsy didn't show anything either. They just said it all looks completely normal. It's frustrating cause you feel like there should've been something at least! My blood work was negative also. Right after my biopsy that day I started gluten free, and it's only been a week and a half an its amazing that... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get These Symptoms
Brittany2 replied to Almedingen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Curious, I had those weird under the skin paint looking spots too, they were numerous, tiny and just randomly grouping on my feet and lower legs. The first time I got them was when I was getting in adequate sleep, they suddenly developed one night and stuck around for three days. The hospital didnt know since I went at that same time with back pain and jitters... -
Hello, I've had an itchy scalp since a younger age, but its never been so much of a problem until this past year, especially back in March when I realized my hair was falling out! Has anyone else had this same occurrence, I know hair loss is a symptom, but out of curiosity, in what ways did yours manifest? Thanks! Best to you!
-
Funny thing was my Gastro doctor mentioned it to me and I mentioned it in one of my posts. He said he wasn't sure if there was a connection, only that it was something he heard. Just to clarify! I have a high forehead but my blood tests or endoscopy did not conclude Celiac, although the diet has amazingly helped me in just one week, my energy's returning...

ARCHIVED Finally Someone Who Listened
Brittany2 replied to Brittany2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello! So I got my biopsy results back today, and apparently there was not signs of damage at all. Honestly I was hoping for very little signs of damage so it would be at least something to diagnose on. Yet I should've known being only 19 and just really starting to notice symptoms the past year and a half. I'm trying the strict gluten free diet to see... -
Hello! Does anyone within the Pittsburgh area know of a good nutritionist? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Finally Someone Who Listened
Brittany2 replied to Brittany2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks everyone! Crossing my fingers and excited for the results. It went well today, and really fast. They said there was no visable damage but they did take 6 samples, so I hope it gives a full story. Apparently when I woke up I was demanding to know if he took at least four, and the doctor was saying yes Brittany no worries I took 6 to be safe. I dont...
