ARCHIVED Mental Disorders & Gluten
waterlily- replied to waterlily-'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for the replies! -
I was gluten free for two weeks and I noticed a difference in my moods (I'm depressed a lot) but not for long, it would be like a high I suppose, I'd feel really great but then I'd level out to just being in between. I realize that there might be an underlying problem but I cannot see a doctor anytime soon so I need to do what I can in the mean time. Has...

ARCHIVED Do I Need To Add Anything To This Diet?
waterlily- posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm planning on going completely gluten-free & this is what I have for food, (that'll be mixed up & cooked differently of course) Oatmeal Pasta Chicken (beef, pork & ground chuck when I can get it) Hummus Vegetables (lettuce, spinach, carrots, onions, corn, potatoes) Rice Bread (Gluten Free Pantry) Yogurt (plain, made into smoothies... -
Thank you!

Thank you, I'll look into it! :]

I'm gluten intolerant but I'm not completely gluten-free as I'm still trying to get a grip on things & change my diet. I've been experiencing for about three months now of feeling like I can't get enough air. I breathe in as deep as I can through my nose & my mouth and yet I still feel like I'm not getting enough air. I want to start jogging and I...

ARCHIVED Help With Sauces & Gravies
waterlily- replied to waterlily-'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'll look into those, thanks! haha yes, jello gravy is right! XD -
I use cornstarch to thicken my gravy & sauces (for like orange chicken) but when it cools it's a solid lump that won't go back to liquid. Is there some kind of alternative? Or am I doing something wrong? I'd like to have 'normal' gravy again. LOL Thanks!

ARCHIVED Gluten Free & On A Budget
waterlily- replied to GFFAB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm not sure where you are located but if you have an Aldi's grocery store near by you can go & have a look at their products. They have gotten in A LOT of gluten free items that are staples that taste great but are much cheaper than brand names. Walmart sells cheap gluten-free pasta that I eat all the time. The brand is called Heartland. It tastes... -
Thank you. :]

I need more protein in my diet as I'm depressed & tired all the time. (this goes mostly away if I've had a lot of meat) Besides general health I want to start working out as well so I'm going to need more protein for that. Are there some good powdered protein drinks (or whatever you call them) that are gluten-free, you can mix into other drinks or just...

ARCHIVED Granola Cereal Recipe?
waterlily- replied to waterlily-'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
thanks! -
I'm looking for a easily modified Granola Cereal recipe. I have oats, dried fruit (mixed bag of like pears, apples, peaches, etc.), chocolate chips, honey & flaxseed. I can get another thing or two if I need to but I'd like to keep it short, tasty & simple. :] Thanks!

No, I meant how long for my gut to heal from eating the gluten before. If it just varies from person to person and how you can tell.
-
First, How long does it take to heal from gluten intolerance? I'm not severely intolerant. For example, I can eat two cookies and not get sick. (I am stopping doing that by the way as I found good recipes) So I wondered if it depended on how severe ones reaction to gluten is? Second, what vitamins should I be taking on top of a multi vitamin? I know...

I do use fruit. Milk, yogurt and fruit. I need a sub for the first two things. -
ARCHIVED Looking For Dairy Substitutes
waterlily- posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I need to go off dairy for a while and I was wondering what subs there are out there for yogurt? I have smoothies for breakfast every other day and I can't think of anything different to use instead of yogurt. I know of almond, coconut and soy milks, is there anything else? (that's not outrageously high priced) I don't like to drink soy milk straight... -
ARCHIVED Would You Go Back To Gluten?
waterlily- replied to reenag's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well since it makes you bloat up and in pain, I wouldn't go back. Not for tests. If you're better off gluten then just stay that way is best, in my opinion. I too am getting more sensitive to it the more gluten I cut out of my diet. A couple of months ago I could eat a slice of bread and not feel very sick but now I can't eat it without feeling like... -
ARCHIVED Pancake Mix Recommendation
waterlily- replied to waterlily-'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You're welcome! :] How much does their syrup run? Everything I find is way too expensive for me. -
I just wanted to share a pancake mix I found that I like. It's Maple Grove Farms Pancake & Waffle mix. Here's what I think about it, It has an odd flavor, to me it tastes like licorice (which I hate btw) but it's not so bad that it makes them inedible if you put jelly or chocolate chips & syrup on them. I just thought I'd point that out. Since...

ARCHIVED Best All Purpose Flour Mix?
waterlily- posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
After searching the forums and not finding anything, I was wondering what you guys think is the best tasting ap flour mix? Like, when I make pancakes I don't want them to taste bitter like brown rice flour, I want them to taste like pancakes. lol or in baking cookies and stuff like that, what brand works the best universally? Thanks! -
I'm looking for a baked doughnuts recipe as I don't have a deep fryer. I've seen it done before with ap flour but not gluten free. Does anyone have one? Thanks!
