  1. Seems to me being a celiac in a family of people with gluten issues wouldn't be so bad. At least everyone around you would be eating the way you need to eat. They'd grow up understanding why they can't eat gluten and wouldn't miss it. I didn't give up gluten until my 40's and it really hasn't been a hardship. I suspect I'm a lot healthier than non-celiacs...
  2. There's a lot of folks and some doctors that think it's unnecessary, that just a simple dietary trial is all it takes to diagnose gluten intolerance. I did this an KNEW it was gluten and haven't looked back! Gluten free for 4-5 years now and quite happy about it.
  3. To me, positive blood test and dietary confirmation would be sufficient. What're you going to do if the biopsy is negative? Don't put her through it.
  4. Some people have seemingly unrelated issues clear up, like brain fog, joint pain, weird little things they didn't expect. One thing to keep in mind is that remaining gluten free is going to help keep him from developing related cancers like lymphoma and intestinal cancers and further autoimmune diseases. So strict adherence is necessary.
