  1. I live in Wareham MA and have had an increasing number of neurological symptoms over the past year. I would love to find a doctor that has a clue if anyone could suggest someone. Thanks /uploads/emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)'>
  2. I avoid artificial sweetener like the plague. Unfortunately, I grew up drinking Diet Coke in place of pretty much every other beverage possible. I stopped drinking it about ten years ago but up until then, I consumed a lot of it. I avoid MSG as much as possible. I recently got a list from my sister in law listing all of the other names it can be listed under...
  3. Thank you everyone. Ironically, my primary care doctor is a rhuematologist. My SED rate was only 27 so he disregarded any thoughts of RA. My sister had rotar cuff surgery in September of 2010 and has been in agony since. Her arm is very painful and is swollen to 150% the size of the other arm. They did two more surgeries to try and fix it. They thought...
  4. Yes, I am very careful about the gluten. I have eliminated it. If I happen to get gluten accidentally, I know it rather quickly. It has been almost two years since I went gluten free. I avoid processed foods, cook from scratch, and do my very best to buy all natural organic when I do buy produce and packaged food. My downfall is a sweet tooth. I try to control...
  5. Is he having all of the same issues? The "it is all in your head" crap is so frustrating. My husband noticed a short time ago that my toes were starting to bend the wrong way. I am sure I can't make that happen in my head.
  6. I am going to try and keep it short although my story goes back ten years. Ten years ago, at 30 years old, I had a badly ruptured disc in my neck. I had a anterior cervical discectomy with fusion. A few weeks later, I got pregnant with my first child. The vomitng was severe during my pregnancy. I was put on medication to be able to keep down food. Headaches...
  7. Thank you ladies for the replies.
  8. I am 40 years old. I was sick for many years before it was discovered that gluten was the culprit. I had a huge list of symptoms, some of them seemed neurological. Since I have gone gluten free, I am much better. I do get gluten once in a while though by accident and I feel it. A couple of months ago, I started having spells of lightheadedness and feeling...
  9. For the cake 7 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped 6 large eggs, separated 2/3 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar For the filling 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin 1 cup well-chilled heavy cream 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar 1 1...
  10. All the doctor said was that I had esophagitis from vomiting so much. I have the picture but there was no biopsy taken from it.
  11. Thank you that have replied for the information and support. I had a Transglutimnase IgA Autoantibodies of 4.5. A weak positive is 4-10. All the other numbers were normal.
  12. This is going on seven years. I vomit on nearly a daily basis. My IgA level was slightly positive but my biopsy was negative. I have been eating gluten free and have not been vomiting. Today, I had two regular cookies and literally tossed them. I have an appt with an allergist next month to see if it is an allergy. Occasionally without gluten in my diet,...
  13. Too bad we can't send Celiac Disease of on it's own after 18 years.........not that I am trying to get rid of my kids. lol
  14. I was diagnosed with a weak positive blood test. I went gluten free for two weeks then went back on the gluten for a month to have the biopsy. It was done last Thursday and I am to call for the results tomorrow. The doctor said that it didn't look like it to him but we would have to wait for the results to be sure. Only one item on my blood test was raised...
  15. He said that you couldn't truly tell without the biopsy results but that it wasn't scalloped looking so he thought it would be negative. He said that I had esophigitis, probably from vomiting for the past seven years. I looked up pictures online of a duodenum and mine looks very yellow. Any idea why or if that is normal?
  16. Thank you. I am glad to hear that. Quite happy to hear about the circles under the eyes going away too! As you can see in my photo, mine are pretty bad lol.
  17. I have struggled with my weight for a long time now. My doctor did not even consider Celiac Disease because I was not thin. Also, I don't think that he believed that I was vomiting on a daily basis because again, I was not thin. I would go through periods of time that I would throw up everything I ate, then, I did lose weight but it would come right back...
  18. Thank you for the replies. I forgot to subscribe to my thread so I didn't realize anyone had replied yet. I am just hoping that he checks for everything while he is in there.
  19. Eating gluten free will mess up the results. I was told by a doctor to start the gluten free diet based on a blood test. When I went to the gastro doctor, he told me to go back to eating gluten for a month before he did the biopsy because eating gluten, otherwise, the test would not be accurate. Good luck
  20. How detailed of a result did you get? Did the doctor just look for the celiac disease or did they look for other conditions associated with it at the same time? Did you just get a simple, "you have celiace disease" ? What kind of information did you get?
  21. I had a pcp tell me to go on the diet after a weak positive blood test. It has become apparent that the gluten was what was making me vomit. However, because I suddenly got much sicker than I have in the past seven years, I thought it best to check and see if anything else was up in there. I figured if I was going to have a scope done anyway, I might as well...
  22. On Thursday I was told to go back to eating gluten in order to get an accurate biopsy. Since Thursday at the doctor's office, I have gained 10 pounds! My face looks swollen, my stomach is bloated as bad as ever, and I spent the evening vomiting. I need to wait an entire month for the biopsy. I am afraid I will look like a blimp by the time I get there. Why...
  23. Did your doctor just check for celiac disease or did they come back with other information like a different condition or additional conditions that you were not aware of?
  24. I had a weak positive blood test for Celiac by pcp, started the diet about two weeks ago, and saw a gastro doctor yesterday. He is going to do a gastroscopy but told me to go back on the gluten for two weeks before he does the scope. Now, I know they do a biopsy to check for Celiac but do they look for anything else? Do they check for damage in other places...
