  1. There's many benefits from going gluten-free but the commitment is very hard if it is voluntary.
  2. starting with chicken is a great idea, my own preference is to stay away from pork, although bacon is very tempting!
  3. yea that's rough, hope it works out.
  4. its impossible to try to change people although you can take somebody aside and tell them one-on-one it really hurts what they are doing. A lot of people don't even realize what they are saying is really that harmful. I hope it works out well.
  5. yea using the word 'allergic' usually brings a firm 'no' to the conversation as sandsurfgirl said. Most people just move on after that and suggest you pick the food as a nice gesture. They could be allergic to something too so don't feel you're the only in the group.
  6. sorry to hear that. What I found to work is reading about what is safe and isn't in general then as your shopping read labels and keep track of what you can eat. Google is another great way to see what is gluten-free b4 you shop. If you have an iphone there is an app called is that gluten-free which has a bunch of everyday products. Cheers! Jason
  7. best place to start is Open Original Shared Link to learn about celiac also just google the term and see what you come across. The gluten-free community is very inviting and there are lots of resources out there...good luck!
  8. @book-worm the biggest supermarket down under is Coles they have a gluten-free section on their website Open Original Shared Link Use This To Link To Spam/c1IqB6 you can check out. You and your friend should go there and shop together for the stuff you need while there. Communication is key in a situation like this. Anyways, enjoy your time in Melbourne,...
