  1. There is a big connection between 'leaky gut' and autism. A good resource for you would be to see www.breakingthevicioussycle.info there is a chapter out the book by the same name as the site that is printed on the site to read. The printing of the book with this new chapter is not quite out yet. Also there is a site called Pecanbread.com it also has information...
  2. were you given the normal ranges with those result numbers? Usually normal ranges are like <20 or <10 it should say on the results. Anything over those ranges indicates a problem. And different testing faciilities have different ranges of normal based on the particular test they are using. Denise
  3. Our doctor actually suggested acidopholus.. ok I can't spell it.. but anyway.. you should be able to get it in capsules at a good health food store. It should be stored in the fridge. I would suggest yogurt but most comercial yogurt even though it has acidopholus also has lactose which would probably be a problem. What are you drinking? I suggest apple cider...
  4. Boy this must be tough with you dealing with this alone! I hope your husband stays out of harms way over there! My brother in law just came back. A book that you will find helpful is Kids with Celiac disease by Dana Korn. I found it very helpful! Do let us all know if there is anything you need! Denise
  5. Just a quick question.. you do notify people of these offenses right? When they are doing this? Thanks Denise
  6. Thought I replied to this. There are several out there like this. The family will all go gluten free. There is a yahoo group called celiackids that you might find helpful and there is a good book called Kids with Celiac Disease by Dana Korn (she is active in the yahoo group) also she has a book called Wheat Free Worry Free as well I have not read that...
  7. We have been at it since last august.. when we first took my son to the doc for chronic diharea. Our regular doc suggested a gluten-free diet and a trip to the GI. Well we did the diet and he got better wish we hadn't we might have gotten more results with the GI then. On Monday his next appr I plan to ask for a blood panel since the doc already saw fit to...
  8. Actually Gillian there are 'failures' on this diet.. not my choice of words.. he indicated that you are failing.. but in fact it is the diet that is failing you.. There are a few celiacs that do not respond completely to the gluten-free diet and they need to go further... My advice for you is to check out the specific carbohydrate diet. It is the original...
  9. Joshwa will just have to take his first date to Outback steakhouse hehe they have gluten free stuff on their menu.. check out their web site.. and he can also take her to DQ and share a nice dish of soft serve or a blizzard.. or a DQ cake special ordered without the cookie crunch in the middle! there are several places that have gluten-free items..you just...
  10. Somewhat..I would have to say yes more than before.. whats worse is being an adult and having accidents.. I started having trouble when I had the last baby Mr 11 pound boy.. I chalked it up to that.. didn't accociate it with my other son's problems till now that I am having this trouble again.. I weighed 90 pounds till 7 years ago when my first son was...

ARCHIVED Great Line For The Doctor..

He was taking in at minimum a half a slice of bread a day two months prior to the biopsy. It may not have been enough gluten in take.. or he may just not have damage. He is now on a regular gluten to the hilt diet.. since the tenth of the month he has not had any good bms.. all loose and yucky.. about 1 to 4 a day right now.. ooh I take that back he had one...

ARCHIVED Great Line For The Doctor..

Well I would hope I would not have to hand the 'premier' ped. gi doc of the children's hospital information about celiac.. he has already done an endoscopy which came out negative but I have found more times than not that young children have this happen. Also he had been on a pretty much gluten free diet for the better part of 4 months .. the last two months...

ARCHIVED Great Line For The Doctor..

I posted for help on another board I am on to get the doctor to listen and do the blood panel.. I really needed the words to put it politely.. consisely and get results.. well someone sent this line.... "I understand the direction you are going but as a mother I feel that this (insert name of test, problem, procedure, etc.) will give me peace of mind...
  14. I am going through the same struggle. I did a poll here and 7 out of the ten people who voted had a negative biopsy but were diagnosed celiac. Now that you have had a positive blood test negative biopsy I would say the thing to do is to put her on a gluten-free diet for three months. If she improves then I would stick with it. How old is she? if she is...
  15. Well a couple of weeks ago my sons GI doc told us to put him back on the regular diet after his endoscopy.. (which was negative) we have not had blood work done on him yet and I am trying to get a stool sample in for testing.. anyway.. I also went back on the regular diet.. and hey.. even though I am eating all kinds of stuff like candy and ice cream and...
  16. Try making sure you peel seed and cook your veggies. Try squashes.. butternut squash, acorn squash spagetti squash... they might be easy on your system.
  17. Have you heard about Donatos no dough pizza? I just emailed them to question whether the other ingredients would be gluten free.. If so and they make these pizza's with no crust. then cool we may be able to have pizza made for us!! This low carb craze is working out.. protien burgers are poping up at Burger Kings.. restraunts are offering low carb menu options...
  18. I'm silly but I chose to think of it this way.. I was going to joke with the anaestesiologist that he should come by the house every day around 1:30 so I can get my ornery toddler to take a nap every day! It'll be fine!
  19. Eliana be careful about soy milks and other milk substitutes like rice milk. They often are processes or contain barley malt which has gluten. Will your daughter drink pediacare? It is gluten free. I found it helped my son maintain some weight while we had him on gluten before his endoscopy. He is 2, and his biopsy results came back negative, but we havn...
  20. Don't give up over 5 oz. First of all is she eating? How is her appetite? Second of all go down to basics.. meat and veggies and fruits that she will eat.. BANANAS!! Nice ripe bananas are perfect for these little ones.. that is what my grandmother (a nurse) fed to the little ones they had that had celiac. It was during WW2 and they had to have the police...
  21. Ok.. I have a funny story about the color of poop..hehe Have to tell it.. The hershey company put out promotional foods around the time the movie The Hulk came out last year.. Well being comic book fans we were drawn in by these items.. so I bought some 'Hulk" pudding and we made some yummy milkshakes with them. Well the next day my son had HULK GREEN...
  22. I was thinking about doing the Cleveland marathon 10k.. there are two recipeints of the cleveland marathon this year one is the celiac center in Maryland.. turns out the Cleveland marathon president was recently disgnosed with celiac.. anyone else doing a celiac walk or event?
  23. There are stool tests avaiable. They are through enterolab and you can get information on them at their website. www.enterolab.com There is always a celiac blood panel. My son just had an endoscopy and biopsy done but not the blood test. The problem is that the biopsy can miss a spot of damage as it can be spotty.. The tests from enterolab are not generally...
  24. Well I posted a response to this I don't know what happened to it. This kinda scares me that my son's biopsy came back negatve and we didn't do a blood test. It's good that you got the blood tests done. Your body doesn't make those antibodies for nothing. I would trust those tests I am going to endup fighting the doc to get thoseblood tests done...
  25. Give that girl a big hug and tell her that the biopsy will be fine!! We just got through it with our two year old! He did great! Don't be suprised if the result of the bipsy is negative.. I would trust the blood tests thought because your body does not just randomly make antibodies! I am going to have to probably fight to get a blood test because my doc...
