  1. Thanks! They think it's the ham. She did fine for a few days on the Kozy Shack Smartgels, rice, the Snyders Gluten Free Pretzels and Gatorade. She will stick to that and then work with the nutritionist.
  2. OK... so daughter hasn't been formally diagnosed with Celiac. She has had every test under the sun, with only the endoscopy showing subtle irritation of the stomach lining and very subtle indication of some (they didn't use the word flattening) in the intestines, and subtle changes to the duodenal folds. No way to formally diagnose with that. The biopsy...
  3. Gluten-Free for 5 days - Daughter is nauseous, thrown up a few times, can't keep anything down, still stomach pains... is this unusual? No diarrhea in 4 days, but no BM either. It seemed like a couple of days ago, she was really back to her old self, and now... BAM!! Is this withdrawal. If eating mostly gluten type foods for most of her 22 years, would...
  4. The last I heard, she was sleeping soundly. Good sign! Thanks for the 1/2 gatorade and 1/2 water suggestion! She doesn't like alot of foods (ie, applesauce, bananas), so rice, chicken, jello will be her mainstay for a bit. I do believe she is anxious that this isn't going to work and she'll be back to square one. Time will heal and give her confidence...
  5. Daughter just got out of the hospital a few hours ago after a long spell of years with gastro problems and the myriad of other symptoms associated with Celiac or Gluten Intolerance. The biopsy was inconclusive. They do feel she needs to go on the complete Gluten Free diet, given her relatively positive response to being gluten free for a few days. She...
  6. OH, my gosh!! I love all you people here!! Unbelievable helpful!!!
  7. The doctor's are making her feel as though it is unusual to have this much discomfort. True? I thought each person was different and after 15 years of this, your body does not heal overnight, especially if they don't tell her to be dairy free. Does that mean just lactose free? "Cause we know of an incredible nutritional shake that is gluten and lactose...
  8. Even hospitals, nurses, internists and general GI's don't have a handle on this, do they??
  9. We are awaiting the biopsy results for my daughter's Endoscopy (yesterday afternoon). The GI Dr. saw what appeared to be irritation in the stomach lining, appeared to be a small amount of subtle flattening of the villi and a subtle change in the duodenol (sp?) folds. He can't say for certain, we await the results. She has been Gluten Free for 4 days, with...
  10. Thanks to all! Went over to see my daughter! I told her she wasn't sitting in the fetal position one more minute! I took her to the ER!! She is now in the Hospital with fluids, pain meds and anti-nausea meds. Nurse is well versed in Celiac and is incredibly helpful. I told her she wasn't leaving the hospital until the Endo was completed. Then she...
  11. How does MY daughter continue to eat gluten thinking it may be the culprit for a test that is 9 days away, when she continues to have major stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, throwing up, bloating, no energy, never leaves the house. Can't eat, can't sleep, drink water and toast (if possible)? Doctor prescribed dicyclomine for the stomach cramps and it helps...
  12. So... Daughter has to stay on gluten? Her next blood test is for the two genes that carry the predisposition for Celiacs. She will have that done tomorrow. The only relief from the diarrhea and abdominal pain she has had the the past 3 weeks is 1 day after going gluten free for 24 hours (repeat, 1 seminormal stool 24 hours after trying 1 day of gluten...
  13. Mother with Sjogren's, Aunt with Crohn's, Sister with Lupus, Daughter just determining if the last 15 years of gastro problems, depression, etc have been due to Gluten Intolerance. Once we get her on the right road, I will test myself, as well.

  14. No results on that or the stool sample done on Monday. Does it really take that long? Not that I am confident that it will come back definitive. However, today was a pretty good indication that we are in the right neck of the woods.
  15. Just went back on Gluten today and stomach is worse than ever!
  16. Yikes! Back on Gluten yesterday and today and stomach is worse than before! What does that say?
  17. As suggested by all, my daughter went back on Gluten (she went off for 2 days and was told to stay on it) to comply with further testing and YOW! Stomach hurts so much she's in tears, as she had some Boston Market chicken and triscuits (better gluten choices?). It didn't hurt this much before she stopped the gluten, just diarrhea! So, she see keeps this...
  18. Thanks for the help! She has given a stool sample and has had the blood test (no results yet after 2 days!). She is back eating gluten to prepare for further testing (which I only learned here). Given her history of in and out of every doctor and emergency room over the years, only to be told she has gastroenteritis or IBS (with no proof) and leading her...
  19. Daughter suspects Celiacs and stops Gluten on Sunday. Doctor takes blood panel on Monday. Daughter continues novice gluten free on Wednesday (today) with continued bloating and constant diarrhea. Ultrasound, to rule out other issues on Thursday. GI (Celiac specialist, thank goodness) doctor on Friday. Should daughter continue with Gluten Free? Her...
  20. They took blood while she was still on gluten. She was hoping to be able to subdue the constant diarrhea by changing it after, just in case. Hasn't eaten much in two weeks, and doesn't feel like it, so it wouldn't matter anyway.
  21. What were your symptoms and how did your body respond to the change in diet? How long did it take to see a result in the change in your diet? We are at that stage right now, with waiting for the results of the test, with the understanding that it could be negative. We have changed the diet (2 to 3 days ago) and not real change in constant diarrhea and bloating...
  22. Anyone know of one?
  23. How long did it take for you to feel better? Daughter (23yo) is going through diagnosis process right now. Chronic Diarrhea, some nausea, not hungry, bloating, fatty stools, etc.. for two weeks, Gastro issues for years. Went as gluten free as a novice can for the last 2 to 3 days? So many sites have people saying they saw an immediate result. I have suspected...
  24. Daughter has had gastro issues for years! She has also been diagnosed with Hoshimoto's Thyroiditis (know there is a correlation between that and Celiac). We are in the beginning stages of having her tested for Celiac, as she has had diarrhea issues for the past 2 weeks. Diarrhea 10 to 15 times a day, very fatty. She just had blood drawn for Celiac Panel...
