  1. No I haven't been tested, but I figured this would be the cheaper and more fail-proof route. Thanks for the replies, I'll have to see how it goes.
  2. After the holidays I am going to do a gluten free trial just to see what happens. I was wondering, is it absolutely necessary to cook with all different pots/pans/utensils, or will I still be able to see if there is a difference still using utensils that have touched gluten food as long as I am not directly eating gluten anymore myself (ie a slice of...
  3. Thanks for the replies, I didn't realize you could get headaches with gall bladder issues, I'll have to look into that. Also thanks for the suggestion about the pillow, I will have to try sleeping without a pillow and see what that does. I do have Raynauds as well. I figure if this doesn't get any better maybe try a chiropractor, sometimes they seem...
  4. I am normally not a headache person, but lately I've kind of become one. For the past 6 months on and off I will get a dull headache/and or head pressure mainly focused on the right side of my head (behind the eye, around to the back right side of my head down my neck even into my shoulder), and it drives me nuts. Sometimes even my lymph node gets inflamed...
  5. Geez, like you are going to make 10 different appointments for each symptom? What is with that nurse? It is kind of amazing how apathetic it seems how the medical field is becoming. Almost like no one cares to try to get to the root of the problem, just throw pills at you that won't really fix anything at all. I hear ya though, I've through the years...
  6. It is a mystery to me as to what causes them, but yeah it could be a sensitivity to a certain food.
  7. Not sure if anyone else gets this. On and off I will get what is like a little blister type thing in my mouth, towards the back just behind my back molars, but not as far back as my tonsils. I notice it as a bump, and it doesn't hurt or anything, its just there until it either goes away or I burst it if I mess with it. They just randomly pop up, I'd say...
  8. Maybe if I were to bypass my regular doctor? That would be nice if in the future pre-existing conditions are not held against us. Heck just about everyone has something pre-existing. It's like a lottery that you win or lose just based on if you so happen to get some illness or not. Sometimes our health system really makes me wonder...
  9. Interesting, that sounds about exactly like what I went through, except the slapped cheek look. So it sounds like it is just a one time thing that happens then goes away, from sites I have been reading.
  10. I don't recall having a sore throat, BUT, DH and I both had strep throat earlier the previous year (summertime). We were both treated with antibiotics, I was treated twice with them because he caught it and I didn't want to get it again. Interesting Spruemylife about your mom. I did have a blood test that day I went in, and the only thing that was...
  11. I just figured I'd post this and give it a shot. Back in January I had this really weird thing happen to me. I just all of a sudden broke out in a weird...well it wasn't a rash, but my skin looked all over very "speckled" or "mottled" looking. It wasn't a raised rash, but actually "in" the skin, red and white. It freaked me out, I noticed it when getting...
  12. I was thinking about this today. I am in the USA and currently do NOT have health insurance. If I did get testing, and say it came out positive for celiac, will that then be a strike against me if I am able to get health insurance at some point in the future? I am learning one has to be careful what is put on file, because with insurance companies it...
  13. It has been a long time since I've eaten a potato. I can't remember the last time I ate one. I did however have french fries today, but that is also a pretty rare occurrence (maybe a total of 4 times this whole year).
  14. I also have had IBS for 10 years now. Still going strong...(sarcasm)
  15. It is a good point that diagnosing celiac does save a lot of money in the long run, preventing a person from getting all the aliments that come along with long term undiagnosed problems with gluten. Of course also coming up with an answer that does not involve some sort of drug probably makes the drug companies unhappy, but that saves money too.
  16. Anyone else have joints that not only ache sometimes, but also pop more easily and frequently (even if not aching). I can't figure what to make of this, I feel like a creaking popping old person. I did have a test to rule out Rheumatoid arthritis.
  17. I have been doing lots of reading lately about celiac/gluten intolerance, and I keep coming across people who say their doctors either outright will not do the testing for celiac, or scoff at it. I wonder why this is? It seems like a simple enough initial test, just a blood draw. Why not rule out (or in!) one more thing? It does not make sense to me.
  18. I had a low white count back in January, and they re-tested in June and I was okay, so might have just been a one time thing.
  19. Thanks for the replies. So for a celiac/gluten intolerant person technically it won't really help. Is celiac more like an inability (missing the correct mechanism) for breaking down gluten, rather than an allergy?
  20. This might seem like an odd question, but I wonder, can allergy medications help either celiac or gluten intolerance? If your body is reacting to gluten in an allergic-like way, then would allergy meds help? I am probably way off here of course, but just wondered.
  21. I am just wondering, if you have Celiac disease, would your white cell count be off or would there be no effect on it?
  22. Wow, I had no idea that this was a sign of Celiac. I get these night episodes every so often where I have to keep running to the restroom, and my guts are in agony. I always thought it was just some IBS stuff. The next day I feel almost hung over, and usually just won't eat much after one of these night episodes. Interesting.
  23. Thank you eatmeat4good, I am still contemplating whether to get a blood test done before I mess with cutting out gluten, but for sure just cutting out gluten for a time would be cheaper, and more accurate to determine!
  24. Wow, so as little as 2 weeks could show if I have a problem with gluten (by going off 2 wks then back on gluten)? That is quick! So, try to think basic foods (with only like 1 ingredient, such as just plain basic chicken with nothing added). I would think the more complex the food (the more ingredients) the more chance for gluten to be hiding.
  25. I was wondering, is there like a listing of just very basic foods (ie: carrot sticks, potatoes...etc) one can eat for a time (say several weeks) that are known for a fact to be 100% gluten free, so I could do kind of like a test diet? How long should it take to see any results from such a diet (as in if gluten does affect me should I start to see improvements...
