  1. I wanted to start a topic about gluten free makeup & body care products for those of us who have celiac. I thought it would be fun to trade product info. as it is so frustrating and time consuming trying to figure out which products are "safe." I try to find ones that also don't contain any parabens or "bad" ingredients. Here's what I currently use...
  2. I recommend trying Rudi's gluten free bread. I used to eat Udi's until I tried Rudi's. I like the gluten-free multi-grain bread. They also make a cinnamon raisin and a white bread as well. It tastes just like regular bread and doesn't have any strange smell or aftertaste. It is delicious & certified gluten free. It does not contain any natamycin...
  3. You are very welcome! : )
  4. Unfortunately, it is true that many wine barrels are indeed sealed with a wheat flour paste. See my post above which lists responses from a few of the wineries that I've contacted. How much of that actually gets into the wine is the big question. As most of us celiacs know, it only takes a minute amount to cause damage. As for myself, I am sticking to...
  5. I actually e-mailed quite a few wineries and here are just a few of the responses I received back. (Most all them them confirmed that the barrels are sealed with a flour paste. Now whether or not any of that gets into the wine is the million dollar question.) Here's "straight from the horse's mouth," so to speak: 1) "In our wine production we do not...
  6. Hello, I was diagnosed with celiac about 21/2 months ago through a blood panel (came back as "highly probable") and a positive biopsy. I started to feel a little better about 1 1/2 months in, and then I went out for my birthday weekend and ate out several times over the course of the weekend. (I normally do not eat out very often.) I was very careful...
  7. Hi there, I was recently diagnosed with celiac about 2 1/2 months ago and started to feel a bit better about 2 1/2 weeks ago .....until my birthday weekend which was about a week and a half ago. I went out to eat a few times, and I have felt like crap ever since. I thought I was so careful in choosing the restaurants and asking the right questions but apparently...
  8. Hello, I was recently diagnosed with celiac a couple of months ago. I love to drink wine occasionally, but have learned through research & reading the forums that some wines may contain gluten. One, I've read that some wineries may seal the barrels with a flour paste and then two, there may be gluten in the "fining" or "clarifying" agents used in the...
  9. Thanks! Are they pretty good?
  10. Hi there, Where do you find the Enjoy Life Brown Rice Tortillas? I looked on their website and didn't see them there either. I've only seen the Food For Life brand of Brown Rice Tortillas. Thanks! : )
  11. Is it Enjoy Life or Food for Life brand? I couldn't find the Enjoy Life Brown Rice Tortillas. Thanks!
  12. I am kind of a health nut, so I am always trying to find a healthier version for desserts. There are many healthier versions of recipies that taste great. It's all in personal preference.
  13. Thanks for the tip. I will definitely try the healthier crumbled cookie version. I am still on the hunt though for a healthier crust that I could use for a chicken pot pie. I am going to check out some gluten free recipe books. If I find a good one, I will post the recipe here. Thanks!
  14. Thanks for all the posts. I think I'm going to try the Guerrero brand.
  15. Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of any "safe" gluten free corn tortillas to use for enchiladas, etc. I know that corn is supposed to be gluten free but there is the whole cross-contamination concern. Are there any certified gluten-free brands? (I've tried some of the rice tortillas and they weren't so good!) Thanks!
  16. I'm sure the Whole Foods pie crust tastes great, but it has so much fat in it! Does any one know of a good tasting, low fat, gluten free pie crust or have a recipe for one? (I'm not sure if one exists but it would be great if it did!)
  17. Hello, I am new to the forums. I was just diagnosed with celiac a month ago. I think I just got "glutened" at PF Chang's on Friday night. I felt like crap & had major anxiety all day yesterday! I didn't feel well in the morning. I went Starbuck's, had some green tea and then went to the gym and did some cardio. I started to feel a little better...
  18. Richard, Thanks for the info. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I just started taking proboitics but am not sure how long to take them. Does anyone know how long I should be taking them for? What were your symptoms if you don't mind me asking?
  19. cassP, Thanks so much for the advice & support! I will definitely be avoiding any prescriptions if I can.
  20. DeAnna, Thank you so much for the great advise and support. It has been so overwhelming and challenging! I have mostly cut out dairy, I use almond milk in place of regular milk for my cereal now but have the occasional slice of cheese. Is it necessary to cut out dairy completely? What about organic yogurt & eggs? Also, should I take a calcium...
  21. Hi, I am new to all of this as I was just diagnosed with celiac 3 1/2 weeks ago through a positive blood panel & biopsy result. I have been very diligent about eating gluten-free, (including my vitamins, soaps, lotion, toothpaste and lipstick), but haven't had much improvement and am frustrated and worried. My symptoms are lots of gas, burping, discomfort...
