  1. I feel you, girlie. I know how you feel with regard to the social outing but it does improve. My family thrives on big "food" gatherings and last year, I skipped out on Easter dinner because i didn't want to watch everyone eat the foods I miss so much. It does suck. I do ok with restaurants now because my friends/family know the places i can comfortably...
  2. I've had over 10 years of illness... back and forth to every kind of doctor there is to see if someone could help me. I had no way of linking all of my health issues to "one condition" such as Celiac. ....Finally a diagnosis... I've been gluten free for a year now and today, i feel sad.... Probably because I am in physical pain. Will I ever feel like...
  3. Interesting stories, everyone! Thank you! I did a self test on accident. I was feeling so much better that I decided to wean gluten back into my diet. After a week or so of that ignorant move, my feet were in pain just like they had been years ago! It was crazy! Needless to say I am back on my gluten-free diet since I've been so miserable. My stomach...
  4. I had pancreatitis twice before being diagnosed with gluten sensitivity. I ended up bed ridden in a hospital on a feeding tube! It sucked!
  5. That was so mean of your doctor! Geez! I had joint pain, foot pain, stomach issues, even Pancreatitis, over many years of being misdiagnosed. I had been feeling better lately so I decided to wean gluten back into my diet! Guess what happened?! My feet began to throb in pain and my eyes have been burning a lot. So, that was proof enough for me to know...
  6. I went through several weeks of hell after going gluten free. I had a variety of painful detox symptoms. It was terrible. My whole body ached and my feet would get sharp, shooting pains. All of this calmed down eventually but for many weeks, I dealt with rashes, pain, cysts, you name it.
  7. I actually get burning sensations in my feet and sometimes my stomach too. I cheated and ate some gluten this past week and now I feel miserable. Lots of symptoms. Uhhhh.
  8. I've had foot pain for years, but over the past few years it had progressively gotten worse until I was finally diagnosed by my local doctor with Celiac Disease. Once following the strict gluten free diet, I found it was also helping the mysterious foot pain and slow ankle sprains healing in my feet. Am I the only one to notice/have this?
  9. Wow. I am so glad I found this site and have such great people to talk to about this. I can't thank you all enough. Last night I had baked chicken with parsley, a few bites of potatoes and a lot of green beans and broccoli and I was able to actually sleep a full night for once. I didn't feel mentally "shakey" and crazy like previous nights since following...
  10. "Missy's Mom" - that made me smile. I go by "missy" and My mom - Janice - we always hear people in our family saying ... "... Missy's Mom". Cute.
  11. Thanks guys. Well, because my stomach started off so fragile at first my dietician recommended I stick to white rice and potatoes to ease my digestive track. Umm.. not to question her advice, but white rice made me feel like a yo-yo about 2 hours after eating it. I have switched to brown rice (as of yesterday) but found it wasn't digesting that great ...
  12. I was diagnosed with Celiac on 9 September 2010. I've had Hypoglycemia (as a result of Pancreatitis) about 6 years ago. I'm strictly following the Hypoglycemia/Celiac Diet yet my body is still going crazy. I can't seem to control my blood sugar at all and I dont know why?? My body is up and down, hormonal, and on a psychological rollercoaster these days...

  14. I was recently diagnosed with Celiac and have been gluten-free for 11 days now. I'm having some major detox-type of issues. I have insomnia and body aches all over. Mild joint pain. My skin is terribly dry suddenly (previously it was overly oily). My face and body is going through some weird chemical skin change too, I noticed. I went from normal skin...
  15. No one in my family wants to listen to me. My mom has a condition called "Derealization" -- where for some reason she feels like shes been living outside of her body almost.. She has had this condition for 20 years now. What are the chances that her condition is because of Celiac? I read a forum on here of others experiencing "Derealization" due to Celiac...
  16. I have celiac disease/DH and want to wear makeup. Is Neutrogena gluten-free and ok to use? Any suggestions?
  17. I have DH too. I'm going tomorrow for a biopsy and treatment. Apparently, I will have DH forever... great....
  18. Weird. I got diagnosed with Celiac 11 days ago. No one else in my family seems to have this? I'm 36 yeras old and my mom and brother are both saying, "Wow, that sucks for you!" ... but shouldn't they get tested? What about my grandmother and her father who both died of a mysterious stomach cancer? Coincidence? I just don't know. I'm in a huge family...
  19. I know exactly how you feel. I was just diagnosed with Celiac 11 days ago. I left the grocery store in tears. It is slowly getting easier. You will find things you can settle for... I was a BIG bread eater, so this is hard for me -- needless to mention my love for pizza. Its depressing. Uno's makes a gluten-free pizza, I hear. Also, think things with...
  20. Does it matter if a Celiac wears Gluten-Free cosmetics or not? I don't know what to buy. I bought a whole line of cosmetics from Clinique and started to use it and now my eyes hurt/burn a lot. I had to stop wearing it; yet, I don't understand because their website said their products are allergy-tested, fragrance free. What the heck? I heard Neutrogena...
  21. I have an interesting part to that story.. can you believe the allergist gave me "Finacea Gel" to use for my "Rosacea" -- Finacea Gel is primarily made up of Wheat, Rye, and Barley... and there I was rubbing it all over my face every day, twice a day. Anyone know what cosmetics are gluten-free and safe to use? I'd like to start wearing eyeshadow again and...
  22. I'm a 36 year old Irish girl with stomach problems since 2002. It began with Acid Reflux. I tried all of the prescription meds for the condition - Protonix, Nexium, Prilosec, yadda yadda. Nothing really helped. I had Acid Reflux for many years before my then-husband convinced me I should have the Nissen surgery performed (to tighten the bottom of your...
  23. How long before I feel better? I've been gluten-free since the day I found out and I've got this burning rash, nerve pain and eye pain. My eyelashes have been falling out lately.. Skin feels overall inflamed.
