  1. I have worked in Film and TV for ten years. ......

People with any chronic disorders, especially something like celiac, which can cause them to lose shooting days, are considered to be high-risk.....

So it a good chance that actors describe anything like that as an "allergy" becuase it makes it harder for them to get work.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It makes perfect sense "High Risk" = Send celiac celebrities into hiding!

  2. We need to wear flashing signs in the middle of our foreheads. Listing

Toxic Food that is KILLING US! So each time we don't have to explain to people who don't understand.

I like that web set you-don't-look-sick-dot.com...they are right people don't get it!

I feel the same way too, being Italian -- my entire life with sweet cream butter on Italian bread, pasta, macaroni, cheese, canolli's, cheesecake, capacinno... Oh, I could just died now. :o I can't e-v-e-r - <_< - n-e-v-e-r eat them again. :o No wedding, birthday, or créme brulée. Oh God why?!

So how do we make the world wake-up and take notice to Celiac-Sprue?!

We need to find some major celebrities who are suffering, as we are with CS, and get an awareness movement going.

First I think, we or it, has to have a name that people can say and remember. Like TOXIC Food Disease, or something else then what it is. When I say, "I have Celiac Sprue", people look at me like, "...what? How do you say it? Do you spell it with a S, or is a who? ...Gluta Huh?"

Where did the sillyak name came from anyway?

  3. Hi Celiac & Thyroid Cyberspace Friends!

Well, I'm back to update you on my experience with NATURE-THROID.

After taking it I found out I'm allergic to PORK. Upset my tummy. So on to the next one...

If any of you have ideas or other options PLEEEZE write...

The generic LEVOVYL is unstable. There was some kinda class action suit.

    CYTOMAL = cornstarch & lactose

    THYROLAR = corn & lactose

    NATURE-THROID = pork

    ARMOUR THYROID = pork

I wonder how Celiac (intolerant of corn & dairy) people do on regular SYNTHROID, made GLUTEN DAIRY & CORN FREE by a compounding rx? Anyone out in celiac cyberspace have experience on this one?

  4. HI all my CELIAC cyberspace friends.

My rock star brother has let [stardumb, fame and b*tch bridezilla] get to his head, but fame won over.

The PIXIIEDUST FAIRY came along out of nowhereland, just down the street from rock star never-never-land, and sprinkled pixiedust over him.

It seems the week long Mexican CanCun beach side wedding all expenses paid for her entire family, has been called off. Yes, you read right CALLED OFF! [giggle] oops that wasn't me. [giggle]

The band just left for another USA tour, they'll be back home for Xmas, and off again to Europe just after New Years. If you remeber the wedding is the first weekend in December.

Oops I can't contain myself but b*tch bridezilla's nose is out of joint, and has posponed it for a while.

    Thank you, God is good!

    -------

ianm - you got that part right. he's in a rock'n'roll band in an altered state of mind... [giggle]

    -------

westiepaws - I wondered about the family and where it all came from too. I do know he has serious digestive problems.

  5. Hi my celiac disease and thyroid cyberspace friends! It's me again Ms Sillyak Screwed.

Well, I'm back to report about the thyroid RX I was taking.

www.compoundingdocs.com/ Great staff, beautiful shop, like old world style. COMPOUNDING DOC's RX was far better then the Levothroid, Levoxyl and Synthroid I was taking. My nervous system felt like I was wound-up too tight and plugged in to electric current on the synthetic RX. Yeah! I was wired. This stuff is like s-p-e-e-d w-o-w !!! I've been hyper all my life, but this stuff c'mon.

Anyway, all kidding aside, the compounding doc was out of town one long weekend and I was without medication as a result was forced to go back on the stuff poisioning me Levothroid, or it was Levoxyl, you know, the generic for Synthroid. I was wired! They say that generic synthetic stuff is not calabrated or stable doses, that's why I felt so bad and plus that it contains corn.

Over the weekend I read a super book "LIVING WELL WITH HYPOTHYOIDISM" got a grip on why Doc's don't want us to be well, and how to get better. And about alternative RX with out gluten, corn, rice or potatoes.

I asked my endro doc if I could take NATURE THROID, she's clueless prescribes a tripple dose, the Walgreens pharmacist caught it, questions me, and wouldn't despence it to me. I called the drug lab they are wonderful gave me the comparison. Not the same, synthetic is mcg and nature is grains. My doc then under prescribed the next time. With the mix up the new COMPOUNDING PHARMACY called "SKIPS" Oh here is his web site, www.skipspharmacy.com/ in Boca Raton Florida.

I found a new doc that's great DR. ALBERT ROBBINS in DEERFIELD BEACH, FL. I have been on the NATURE THROID two days. I already notice my nervous system feels calmer and relaxed, more natural feeling, not like I was being p-o-i-s-o-n-e-d & d-r-u-g-g-e-d. The new RX it will take a while to know, I'll go for a blood test in a week and see where my levels are.

The Doc seem to think I can be treated for my food alergies with shots twice a week for life...

So this is a life time thing? Oh, my! [giggle] Can I eat wedding cake now? [giggle]

Get my head out of the clouds, you say?

  6. Wendy you said, "I am also intollerant of corn, and I have had wierd reations to pecans." WHAT IS YOUR REACTION TO PECANS? They say to stay way from Walnuts.

Wendy I'm new on thryroid med with compounding doc (3 months.) Not sure what thyroid drug company to choose from for those of us that are also corn and dairy intolerent.

I just read in the book "LIVING WELL WITH HYPOTHYROIDISM What your doctor doesn't tell you...that you need to know" by Mary J. Shomon. GREAT BOOK!

She said dont take generic, the batches are NOT stable.

    The natural thyroid were:

    ARMOUR THYROID

NATURETHROID - hypo allerginic - no corn

    BIOTECH - non corn binders

CORNSTARCH BOUND > WESTHROID this one has corn in it beware!

Now, to confuse the issue the natural thyroid medication is from GRAIN-FED PIGS. So I wonder if we would have a reaction to it?

Anyone out there in cyberspace care to share with us the right combination for you?

  7. Hi my celiac disease and thyroid cyberspace friends!

I wanted to report back and let you know that the medication Levothroid, Levoxyl and Synthroid I was taking wasn't effective because it has ingredients that I can't tolerate because they were toxic to my system - Fillers binders, with corn, dairy and etc. Some of us celiac's can't do corn, rice, potatoes and dairy. Look into it... I know I can't after 4 years of being okay on a regular gluten free and dairy free diet, or I thought I was, until induced by major stress my [celiac and thyroid problems] came back with and ugly vengence...

A wonderful guy on this site suggested I contact a compound pharmacist. They are not your ordinary pharmacists, they make what you need pure and free of the fillers and binders that are in regualr drugs. I guess our bodies have to work twice as hard when the drugs we are taking to make us better, are poison to us too.

    Think about it!

I have only been on them a few weeks and I do see an improvement. I'll report back in a while and let you know. But I do think it's worth looking into.

  8. I posted this in one other spot -- Singles W/celiac Website To Meet Other Singles, Celiac Single's to meet and find LOVE. I think it's under Celiac Disease - Coping With

Okay this idea came about from another posting about those of us kissing people  who are NOT GLUTEN FREE...

I would love to know if there is, or should we some how start, a Gluten Free web site for SINGLE people (of all ages) to meet, date and find love  ???

There are so so many of us [sINGLE] people searching for love with this dreadful illness... How many millions of people with celiac, IBS, and other digestive illnesses that would like to find a  mate with or understand our health problems???

It would make life easier, for us, to live with, cope, or explain to insensitive people about our incureable illness. They say things to us like, "...oh just get over yourself... food doesn't make you sick!" - "Your no fun to go out with, we can't ever go where I want to eat!" "Your a problem, your life revolves around food." or "Here have a bite of my cake, it won't hurt you!" How about this one "Kiss me! I only had a 6-pack of beers!" I'm sure all you single's with celiac have come across it too.

I welcome your ideas and thoughts about creating a website and/or finding love  with other Celiac's.

  9. Okay since we are in the  kissing mood...

I would love to know if there is, or should we some how start, a Gluten Free web site for SINGLE people of all ages to meet, date and find  love???

There are so so many of us  [sINGLE] people with this dreadful illness...

I have been sick for so many months, I'm getting better now that the compunding doc are making my gluten, corn, and dairy free thyroid RX's. Going on a  date is hard, with this illness.

But, I would like to find a  guy that perhaps has the same thing I do. It would make life easier, for us, not to have to explain to insensitive people about our illnesses. They say, "...oh just get over yourself..." :o or "Here have a little bite of my cake, it won't hurt you!" I'm sure you all have come across it too.

If there is such a site please let me know... I'd like to kiss and fall in love with a nice compatable ;) gluten free guy soon too!

pmrowley - Your posting made me laugh so hard. I thought of the scene from the movie 9 1/2 weeks were they where Kim Bassenger and Mickey Rourke were smearing food all over their face sitting on the floor in front of the fridge. :D

  10. darlindeb25 - I went to Walmart yesterday and I priced the Sound Machines. I found one in the candle and aromatherapy isle where they have some mood music celiac disease's and cassette tapes. The one I found is called SOUND SCAPES it sells for about $19.00 and it looks good. It has about half a dozen types of sounds to choose from. I don't know if it would help drown-out the crickets you hear...???

    Sleep well my friend!

  11. darlindeb25 - Glad you moved away from your stressors. Wonderful to hear about your  sweetheart. Being in a loving enviroment can heal a lot. I also believe the power of loving touch does wonders as well. I noticed I became sicker (this time I had a flare up) when I called of my engagment. Plus it stressed me out in addition to several other things.

My late-mom had the crickets in here ears. I remember as a kid she told me she had virtigo.

Have you tried a SOUND MACHINE to sleep with? You know it has sounds of the ocean, or city noise, or whatever soft noise in your comfort zone. I have a girlfriend that uses one to put her twin babies to sleep. My 84-year old daddyO sleeps with the radio playing. Sometimes it so loud I can hear it on the otherside of my home. He said for the same reason.

So.... thank you for remindiing me.... I've just added it to the Walmart shopping list, I'm going to check into it, and price them out. I'll get back to you on what I find.

    Sleep Well!

  12. lovegrov - Thaaanx again! :D

Sorry I'm stillll stucck <_< with sticky keys.

Today I did soome research. I found twoo compounding pharmacissts in Boca Raton, Florida where I aam. I am very disappointed  in my docs theeey didn't suggest a compounding pharmacy!

There iss one in east Boca he said wwould maake up the pillss for me no problem, all he needed was the script from my doc and to kknow what I'm not able to tollerate. He woould make up a 30 day ssupply. He asked if I could tollerate gelatin caps. I told him yes. I eat jello and taake another medication with caapssules aand are ok.

The other compounding pharmacy in Weeest Boca told me he woould give me a paper placibo pill for 3 or 4 days... see howw I do, then he would make up the RX with it void of the ingredieents (corrn, daairy & etc) I am unable to tolerate. I won't put my body under more stress of going without thyroid medication for eeven one day, I'm only 2 weeks into medication ssiince my radioactive iodine treatment 2 1/2 months ago. The ssymtoms were totally unbearable, with my levels off the chart.

The day before you helped with yourr solution, I had spoken to a holistic doc in Texas, he was going to have me stop theee medicaton and start holistic thyroid treatment.... But he told me I would get the heart paalputations, hot and cold flashes, migraines, and  mosst of thee otherr ssymptons, for 2 wkks to a month. Before I hung the phone up I knew I didn't want to go that route and streess out my body again....

So my friend I say thanx again for your help. I'm sendding you a big cyberspace HUG. And I will let you know how thee compounding pharmacist drugs work. :D

  13. lovegrov - Thaank youuuu thankk yuo.

I will try to find a compounding pharmacy. It'll be the solutionn to the problem!!!

  18. Kaiti I think that a book is a wonderful idea. I have noticed many of your postings. You are a smart and beautiful young woman. Put you beautiful face on the cover, it will get attention. I'm glad you are going to spread the word about this hidden disease that doctors don't want to acknowledge because they can't get kickbacks from the drug companies. My doc threw a major fit  and had a meltdown  when I told him I was feeling better from enzymes. He called it <_< hocus pocus... I only stopped because of the cost factor.

I would share my story with you. Feel free to email me regarding what you are exactly looking for.

I noticed you have just been diagnosed with Graves Disease this March. I'm so sorry! I also have a serious thyroid problem too. Are you on thyroid medication? I'm having a hard time with it finding a balance in my system...

I wish you the very best with your quest and if I can help in anyway (I can design you a web site) or etc., please feel free to contact me. :)
