  1. The Unsafe Ingredients list on THIS site lists caramel color as a questionable ingredient (/celiac-disease/forbidden-gluten-food-list-unsafe-ingredients-r182/) The list doesn't say anything about this not being true for the US or Canada
  2. It's the only thing I ate that was different from my normal diet. In any case, do you have any remedies?
  3. Not all caramel color is gluten free. I glutened myself with lunchmeat containing caramel color this week. It is still an iffy ingredient.
  4. Just a quick background, I'm gluten intolerant (maybe have celiac) I've been gluten free for almost 9 months now. I glutened myself accidentally on Monday and Tuesday. I forgot to check the ingredients on a package of lunch meat and it had caramel color in it (stupid, I know). Today, I'm feeling somewhat better, but I'm still in a fog, somewhat headachey...
  5. With the onset of severe GI issues and fatigue I just went on the gluten-free diet. I did this because my dad has an offical Celiac diagnosis and my doctor had been dismissive about the initial onset symptoms more than a year and a half ago. Though I suspect I may have started developing issues in college because after highschool my energy levels dropped...
  6. I went to my doctor for extreme fatigue and re-occuring sinus infections. She said my vitamin D levels were lo, she gave me the RX suppliment and told me to get a dietary suppliment with Vit D in it and that was that. The thing is... I drink about a gallon of milk, fortified with Vit D, a WEEK. I shouldn't have had low Vit D levels. I went gluten-free...
  7. I love the orange and tangerine as well. And without all the nasty artifical sweeteners!
  8. Geri, I feel your pain. One of the reasons my doctor brushed me off is because I was gaining weight, not loosing it. I also had the low energy, depression, and joint pain. My mom was really concerned for a few months before I went gluten free because she said I looked really sick. She said it looked like I was on Predisone because I had "moon face". She had...
  9. So... I should just say I follow the Celiac diet, I feel better and have done with it?
  10. I am tired of my doctor brushing me off and (probably) thinking I'm a hypochondriac. She also has a very busy practice and isn't good about following through after the initial visit. Plus, it is HARD to get a same day appointment with her even if I really am very ill. I started the gluten-free diet and I feel worlds better. I want to look for a doctor who...
  11. Thanks for all the replies. In answer, I don't need a diagnosis for myself. Even if I tormented myself with going off the gluten-free diet and got a negative test result, I would probably go back on the diet anyway. One question though, how do I find a doctor who would be sympathetic to my "unoffical diagnosis"? I believe my doctor thinks I'm a hypochondriac...
  12. I was tested for Celiacs a little more than... a year and a half to two years ago. The blood test came up negative. However, I progressively started feeling worse and after my doctor brushed me off when I asked for further tests I decided just to go gluten-free. As a result of the change in diet (its been over a month now) I feel SOOO much better. No more...
