  2. Well said about the "high carb and fat" in our gluten-free breads and desserts. They really are empty calories and nutrient "low".     ARCHIVED Do You Recommend Biopsy?

    I was lucky to have a doctor that believed in step by step testing. I was so ill that he kept ruling out the obvious by testing up to the point of doing more blood work and eventually a biopsy to confirm my non-tropical sprue conditon. This was just in a matter of two weeks, so I can't complain about the time frame for diagnosis.

    Hello New Member--I have been gluten-free since Nov. of 04. Sometimes I will have a spell of knowing that I get must have had something with gluten. I have noticed that even peanuts will cause my ankles and hands to puff up and sometimes my stomach, also. I am also wondering about dairy products causing me some minor issues at the time, so its been a learning...

  9. I have the same weight gain problem, also. I am trying to abstain from lots of gluten-free carbs that are high in calories and fat. I think that it is a" basic 'count your calories as if you were not gluten free. I am giving it a whirl to see if I can lose sensibly on fruits anf vegetables(FRESH)AND lean meat.
