About Me

My name's Alex, was diagnosed just before my 20th birthday. I'm a university student studying psychology, and love everything to do with sports, art and travel. I don't know anyone personally with celiac disease, so I'm looking forward to actually talking with people about this!

  1. Thank you for all your replies, even though I haven't even seen them until just now! Its been about a year and nothing has changed; I'm on the FODMAP diet now and yes I've been cutting out dairy most of the time for the past year. My doctor told me that I probably do have IBS, or IBS symptoms I guess, so I feel like I'm on my own now since my gastroenterologist...
  2. I haven't been able to find any other threads about IBS on here, so I'm sorry if there's already another post on this! But I've had celiac for about 6 months, was diagnosed just before my 20th birthday, and I've be extremely careful about cutting out gluten. I'm also lactose intolerant and I make sure to take the pills for it. The thing is I'm still getting...
  3. I found out officially in feb of this year that I have celiac disease.. except despite going gluten free and being SO careful, I feel like I haven't gotten any better, even after almost 4 months. I had heard that most people feel better immediately so I'm a little worried, but this kind of makes me feel better haha. I still don't know what to do though
  4. Hey I'm alex, and I'm from ontario, canada. I'm 20 years old and was diagnosed a few months ago just before my 20th birthday. Its been so hard and I keep accidently eating gluten! Its even more difficult in university when everyone eats out all the time. I too don't know anyone with celiac so nobody I know really understands it. If anyone else is in college...
  5. Good point! Honestly, letting people know doesn't really do much. They will feel sorry for you for a split second, then go back to enjoying their pizza. And I don't trust anyone making me food either.. people even get offended when I read the ingredients after they have already told me "there's no wheat in it". Just have to be safe haha!
  6. I have the exact same problem! I was just diagnosed a couple of months ago so its really hard right now, especially in university where everyone eats out all the time. My roomates don't seem to notice or care at all, and constantly talk about how good their food is all the time! They even thought it was ridiculous of me to suggest bringing my own toaster...
