  1. Thanks for the reply Poppi. It is interesting that you mention corn. I was eating corn chips, supposedly gluten free for a few days. I did notice that I started feeling even better when I stopped eating them. Then on both Saturday and Sunday, I had corn on the cob. My mom made a slight mistake boiling the corn in the pot she usually makes pasta in. I am...
  2. I can certainly tell a difference in my overall health since going gluten free; however, I notice somedays are just a lot better than others. I know when a lot of people first start their gluten free diet, they must also go lactose free. As I posted on here before, I don't have stomach problems, but more neurological; headaches, light sensitivity, muscle...
  3. Sorry, I'm not sure. Does anyone drink the Ensure Muscle Health Revigor?
  4. I was curious as to what most of you use when you're out by the pool or the lake. I normally use Hawaiian Tropic 6 spf, but I called the other day and they were certain their ingredients were Gluten Free; they were not sure their facilities were. I prefer a lower spf as I tan somewhat well, but would like a little protection. What do you use when you get...
  5. Alright, thanks everyone! I'm only in my second week of Gluten-free living, so I am being pretty cautious.
  6. What type of Peanut Putter does everyone eat? Jif, Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter? Are Olives ok to eat? I believe I saw on here where people didn't eat olives because of the vinegar.
  7. Thanks for the tips everyone. I was being overly cautious because of the possiblity of CC. Today, those same chips were underneath a gluten free sign. Pretty ironic!
  8. I am unable to eat a lot of tortilla chips because of my allergy to sunflower oil. The only one I had found that doesn't have it is the Kroger Brand. Now that I went Gluten Free I am afraid to try them again, even though they say they only have whole white corn, corn oil, and salt. Does anyone else eat these without feeling glutened?
  9. Thanks Manna! Wow, I didn't even think about charcoal. Thankfully I use gas and I did remember the foil Glad to hear that Sweet Baby Rays is okay, I usually use that.
  10. I grilled pork chops yesterday after finding a gluten free bbq, stubb's. Has anyone had any experience with this brand of BBQ or do you all just make your own? Also, do any of you cook with olive oil? I see that it is listed as Gluten free but was wanting to know if any of you have had any reaction to it?
  11. @Zus888...I wish I could have a Pepsi, but I gave up soda 5 years ago. Luckily I can get by with sleeping for now, class ended last week and I have another month until my internship starts. @Mushroom...Should I get a new skillet to ensure it is gluten free? @GlutenFreeManna...Thanks for all the useful information and the encouragement I am definitely...
  12. I had PJ's; however it said that it was made in a factory where wheat was used for other products. I guess that is out now. What type of meat do you eat and how do you cook it?
  13. I have eaten carrots, strawberries, bananas, oranges, boar's head lunch meat, a couple of gluten free frozen meals, swedish fish, gluten free tortilla chips with salsa (CC?)....today I took another 3 hour nap, did I get glutened or is this expected for a little while? I also saw my Dr. today and he wants to look into narcolepsy.
  14. Thanks everyone for the advice and support. Getting that news from the Doctor today was a let down. But like you all said, I could very well be in the 20 to 30%. I am seeing the Doctor who ordered the bloodtest on Tues for my monthly visit, after that I plan on going Gluten-free. @gibberish093...no, I was still eating gluten. I hadn't suspected Celiac...
  15. Now what should I do? I thought for certain they would be positive. I am seeing the Dr. next week so I will get a copy of the results then.
  16. It can become pretty frustrating when all your friends are asking you to go out and you'd rather lay on the couch all nite. You know that something isn't right, but you are unable to put a finger on it and your doctors look at you like your crazy when you mention some of your symptoms. I fear that more and more people are going to start suffering from...
  17. Yeah, I thought he might; but I guess I could call up there and make sure. These last three of years have been pretty miserable for me. Going from super fit and active to super fatigued and a lazy. I tell my mom about being so tired and fatigued and her common response is, "all college students are tired." I replied, "if that were the case, all the...
  18. Thanks for the advice and words of encouragement IrishHeart. I am really excited/anxious to hear what my results are. You know you aren't feeling good when you hope they come back positive. I want to stop eating gluten so bad right now, but I know I should wait until after I get my results back.
  19. So the Keratosis on my arms can be from Celiac Disease? What if I've had the keratosis my entire life, or as long as I can remember?
  20. Thanks for the reply Mushroom, you've been incredibly helpful these last couple of days. I asked my doctor only yesterday to send in a order for lab work and he was more than willing; changing doctors was the best thing I've ever done. Regardless of the results I will definitely go gluten free for a few months. At this point what have I got to lose...
  21. My doctor accepted my request to be checked for celiac. I went and got my blood drawn. How long did it take for you guys to get your results back? What happens if it comes back positive? More tests? What should I do if it comes back negative? I know there is a high chance of a false negative.
  22. Fortunately, that is not one of my sypmtoms. Is checking for potassium a normal blood test or is that something Dr's have to ask for specifically?
  23. I was wondering if anyone else has suffered from really low potassium prior to them finding out about their gluten intolerance or Celiac disease?
  24. Looking at your sig, you were already gluten free at that point? My kidney doctor thought and still thinks I have Gitelman's syndrome. However, I believe differently because only my potassium is low; Gitelman's sufferers have low sodium, magnesium, potassium, and chloride.
  25. As of last month my potassium was nearly up to a normal level and my kidney Doctor had being saying once we got it up I would feel much better. So far not the case (Also, other people that have this low of potassium do not show near the fatique, headaches, and brain fog I do and that is why I believe the potassium is a red herring.?
