About Me

I'm a new to the gluten-free diet thing. Still screwing up a lot and paying the price for it.

I call myself partner to an amazing man who has been so supportive of all these changes in our life, "mom" to two dogs and a frisky kitty, and "lady with the food" to a sassy outdoor cat.

I am a spoken word poet active in the southeastern regional community, and working (slowly) towards running my very first half marathon.

Would love to know more people in my region! And always accepting help and advice! :D

  1. I completely understand. I'm pretty new at this too, about three months for me and no diagnosis (doctors gave up on me) but gluten free has really improved all of my nasty body pain symptoms, my eating is normal, I just started marathon training, and I'm looking forward to a day when I'll be able to actually lose some damn weight. But every time I pass that...
  2. I must warn everyone that this is going to be a frustrated rant. So I was diagnosed with Celiacs a little over two months ago and it's been a struggle to get my diet under control. I've been eating better, exercising regularly, but the scale wont move. In the three months before my diagnosis I gained 23 pounds for no obvious reason, my doctor insists it...
  3. Had to watch my boyfriend buy donuts at the grocery today... he was discreet about eating them but it still sucked because I knew somewhere in the house somebody was enjoying a donut.

  4. I totally feel you about living in a family of Gluten Eaters. My partner has gone gluten-free with me so that we can keep our house safe but we went to a BBQ at my parents house for Memorial Day and it was a mess. Nobody understood why I wouldn't eat all the meat with the BBQ sauce on it (I checked the bottled and it had modifice food starch) I was chatting...
  5. I don't know much about migraines but I know plenty about cooking. To this end I say GET YOURSELF A CROCKPOT GRL. Whether you'll be cooking large meals to eat for a few days or small ones that thing saves me so much time on "cooking". Just throw together the ingredients, set the timer (always get one with an automatic timer it's worth the expense) and when...
  6. I'll start this by saying that I have not been officially diagnosed. I've pretty much gotten exhausted with doctors poking me and proding me and not giving me any definite answers. My family doctor tested me after several months of being horribly ill to discover that I was terribly malnourished (despite eating and having gained 23 pounds in 3 months) and...
