  1. A suggestion- if you don't live in a city or do live in a city that doesn't have stringent burn laws, little charcoal grills can be had for about $20 that make some mean grilled meats. One of my favorites is simply chicken breasts, brushed with olive oil and thrown on the grill. Serve with brown rice and a nice salad or steamed veggies. If you must have...
  2. Girl, you sound just like me! My symptoms: severe fatigue, dizziness, stomach cramps, bloat, brain fog, small patchy rashes. Celiac even explains stuff I didn't know was a symptom, like my messed up toenails (koilonychia- indicates iron deficiency) and spots on my fingernails (leukonychia - indicates zinc deficiency). I have severe anxiety as well but I...
  3. Plums and cream... [EDIT: Whoops, sorry for the giganto pic. Fixed now.]
  4. Thanks guys- I was pretty sure it was negative since it gave reference ranges, but I wanted to make sure. A positive test sure would have given me more motivation to go gluten free, but I'm on week two and have only had one bad incident- a so-called gluten free pizza that made both me and my gluten-sensitive boss pretty ill. I had just had an amazing gluten...
  5. Mmm, I just finished prepping dinner so it'll be quick to throw together when my fiance comes home. I made steak with a marinade of tamari, ketchup, olive oil, basil, garlic, and a bit of honey. The other-half will grill it for me. Bought some good-looking semi-locally grown green beans to steam, along with brown rice. They had really ripe plums at Whole...
  6. I was reading a few posts on here about doctors misreading test results. I consider myself more versed than the average layperson in medical laboratory tests, being that that's my career goal. My test results seem negative to me but I want to check. I've noticed that the numbers people have been giving, even negative test results, are very different than...
  7. I agree completely- you should definitely do this. In the mean time, these were the reference ranges given to me with my test results- I can't guarantee that they correspond with your exact results since sometimes tests vary by labs and units of measurements can also be different. GLIADIN IGA, DEAMIDATED (units) Negative 0 - 19 Weak Positive 20 - 30...
  8. Yeah, I love the crossroads of chemistry (which has always fascinated me) and working in medicine, helping people. Though, I have to admit I've lost a bit of faith in the medical establishment, going through this ordeal. At the end of the day, we're still responsible for our own health and trusting our instincts over sometimes-flawed tests.
  9. I've always wanted to be a medical lab technologist, working in a laboratory and running tests. After I got actually sick instead of just vaguely fatigued, I basically dropped out of college, moved closer to home, and started working part time fixing computers, which is about all I can handle. I knew from the beginning I would regret it, but lately I had...
  10. Yes!! Insidious is a good word. My test came back negative- I understand that false negatives are quite common. So don't be too disappointed if yours is negative too. Yeah, the fatigue really is the worst. It's so hard to do anything when all I want to do is sleep- but when I lay down I just toss and turn! It all feels so unproductive. ...
  11. Ok, I will definitely try that. I sometimes don't have enough to eat for breakfast. I occasionally have a hot chocolate in the morning which is also a nice little injection of glucose as well- though perhaps not the healthiest method of obtaining it. Lactose doesn't generally sit well with me, either, though the thought of cutting out dairy is far more painful...
  12. It sounds weird, I know. But bear (bare? hmm) with me. I've been tired pretty much my whole life. Whenever anyone asked me, even as a kid, how I was doing, it was always... "I'm tired." As a teenager I developed severe insomnia. I take meds for that and definitely get enough sleep but I still crawl home from work every day feeling like I fought a war. I...
