  1. Well the DH's test results are back, and he's well within normal sero ranges, but DQ2/DQ2 genetically. He now has to decide if he wants to proceed with biopsy, but he may not, given his experience with the GI (not particularly favorable). Plus, he's 2 weeks into gluten-free diet with very positive initial results. Getting him to be serious though is a little...
  2. So, hubby's test results came back - genetically he is DQ2/DQ2 (which increases his risk to 1 in 3 or 4 instead of 1:133), but his antibodies are well within normal range. Still, he is very symptomatic. If these were your results, what would you do? Dumb question, I know, but ...
  3. I have been having monthly infusion therapy for 8 months and have seen a significant increase in my ferritin (from 3 to mid 20s). This was after oral therapy for 2 years that produced absolutely no change. I am just starting a 3 month oral trial again to see if we can maintain the gain.
  4. You could also try skipping "replacement" products for a while, until the hunger eases. These foods tend to be made with highly absorbable, refined alternative ingredients (like white rice flour, etc), which enter the bloodstream quickly and can lead to a blood sugar spike that leaves you feeling hungrier than before. Try snacking instead on nuts, cheese...
  5. Two questions... Are you already eating gluten-free? And did your blood work include genetic testing? If you have gone gluten free then you will need to do a challenge for several weeks before retesting. Even if you've "cut way back" you may need to challenge before testing. I recently saw my MD about testing and even though I am not gluten-free yet ...
  6. Thank you all for you replies. They give me hope. I don't expect any miracles... A lot of damage has been done during all these sick years... But I am hopeful that with our heads clear, we will at least have the opportunity to get to know each other again, see if we can resolve the old wounds, and make a good go of it. I am also looking forward to feeling...
  7. No, he hasn't. We've talked about it, and he HAS seen a counselor, but he is firm that under no circumstances will he take meds for depression. He has a deep distrust of MDs (as I've notched many pre-diagnosis people seem to develop after years of misdiagnosis and failed treatments) and a misimpression that depression meds will "alter" who he is.
  8. I've been searching for some links on this, and haven't found anything. My husband is in the diagnostic process at this point. For the last several years, our marriage has been horrible. His emotional distance, depression, irritability, mood swings, fatigue - all have taken a huge toll. We've been through counseling, but follow up is a challenge,...
  9. We've had a strange journey so far, and as we have MD appts, but no test results yet, we're in a difficult transition time. My husband started developing full blown symptoms about 2-3 years ago - elimination problems, rashes, gas, joint pain, brain fog, emotional/behavioral problems, and much more. He has seen more specialists than you can imagine, and...
