  1. oooh, thanks for that info, RiceGuy! I've had Raynaud's for a few years now. It mostly affects my toes, but if I'm stressed my fingers will easily be affected too. This year, for the first time, I've been getting something called chilblains on my toes. They are very painful and frustrating to deal with. I've been told by the doc to keep my toes well...
  2. This probably won't be too useful, but I'm on a vegan diet and I went gluten free in July 2011, and I still have KP. Did not notice any change from either diet change (been vegan for 3+ years now).

Thanks for all the info! Glad YOU are feeling better. I hope I get there soon! I will double check my external stuff (shampoo, lotion, etc) thanks for reminding me!

    ARCHIVED Ibs

Aha, yes, a gastroenterologist.. got it. If I meet my insurance deductible this year.. maybe... Aggh I so hope I don't have other intolerance, but it's likely. My diet is already quite restricted because of the gluten and I have interstitial cystitis and I'm vegan. If I can't have legumes or anything in the nightshade family anymore... jeeeeez. Guess we...

    ARCHIVED Ibs

I'm going nuts here. I stopped eating gluten last July, but still once in awhile I get that icky-gut feeling. I get intestinal cramps (mild), and have to poop frequently all in one day. In addition, I usually feel tired. The stools are not watery.. not the most solid, but not like bad diarrhea or anything. Is it IBS? Or do I have another food allergy/intolerance...
  6. Thanks for your input! Fortunately, I do not think I personally have celiac, maybe just intolerance. I am still confused about the external gluten stuff- shampoo and such. Why is that a problem? Any helpful links on that? I was feeling really great after being careful with my diet for several weeks, and I cook and bake a lot. I don't think the residual stuff...
  7. Thanks for your input! It sounds like we might need to get some separate utensils. I don't think we will be making separate meals, thankfully, but if we do plan on it, we'll have to look into that!
  8. I'm not sure, no. She's had blood tests to make sure she's ok w/her vitamins and thyroid, and the only thing that came up odd was slightly low platelets. But we don't know about gluten. It's something to explore.. and now is probably a good time, since we've both been eating gluten-free. Worth a try, so thanks for the thought. We don't have a dishwasher...
  9. So now that I'm planning on staying gluten-free, I have the issue of living with a partner who does not need to be gluten-free. In fact, my partner really needs to eat lots and lots of everything. We're already vegan, so it's not that easy for her to gain weight and she really must maintain and gain, so I think going gluten-free would be a bad idea for her...
  10. Uuugh I'm also having heart palpitations and it's really freaking me out. I've never had this before until all this started. It appears to be a side-effect of one of my medications (amitryptaline) but I have been on those meds for years. Ick. Will this go away if I'm "good" and don't eat any gluten? :c
  11. I'm generally ok with chocolate, but not when I drink hot chocolate. Caffeine is a no-no, so I just try not to eat tons of chocolate at once. Coffee and tea are off the menu of course. I've had IC for over a decade, but I still have to constantly listen to what my body tells me is okay or not.
  12. I have been skipping the doctor for now and taking matters into my own hands. It sounds like people have had some trouble w/official diagnoses, and I just can't really afford it right now anyway. I am finishing up my first gluten-free-trial. I have been told you need to go 6 weeks before you really feel better, and I have found that it's true. Good luck to...
  13. Thank you! That's what I've been wondering: how long it takes. It's good to know it takes several days for others.
  14. I'm back! I just moved across the state and I'm nearly finished with week 6 of being gluten-free, although I suspect I had accidental gluten ingestion a few times during my trial period. But this weekend my partner and I are having a get-together and I really wanted to try eating gluten before then so I wouldn't have to feel icky on the day of. So about...
  15. Just want to say I am in a similar situation. I am vegan too, and just now trying a gluten-free diet. I am frustrated with feeling better most days, but then crashing and feeling terrible on other days. Maybe we both need to go down to eating rice and water and reintroduce things. Sounds impossible, but we can do it...
