Thank you, will try to glean as much as I can from this

Hey folks, Does anyone happen to know where I can find a bunch of info about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)? I'm in a bit of a bind right now, as I have been having some pretty horrible issues preventing me from working full time (I think I have sibo), and I know that the SCD is supposed to help with sibo. However, I don't have the money to shell...

ARCHIVED Anyone Under The Age Of 25?
pghkid33 replied to inducedjoy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Not sure if you'll read this, but I'm 23 and I'm kind of in the same boat. I have a few friends that have Celiac, but they're not super close to me (both in terms of friendship and proximity) so we don't really talk to much. I'd love to have someone else to talk to, other than damn doctors or nutritionists haha. I know what it's like to miss school, or work... -

Hey man, did removing grains, milk, soy help you at all? You were having continuing symptoms despite being gluten-free? If so, what were they? -
ARCHIVED Paleo Diet... Did It Really Help?
pghkid33 replied to alesusy's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hey, folks. I have been having some ongoing issues for quite some time now, and I tried the paleo for abt. 3 months but gave up because it didn't seem to be helping. I'm considering trying again, after reading this: Open Original Shared Link Just thought I'd bring this research to everyone's attention... pretty alarming isn't it? I realize it's 4-5 years... -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency
pghkid33 replied to pghkid33's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Gotcha. I had a barium ct scan which showed nothing, but maybe I should ask / push for those other tests to be done just in case. None of those other causes of EPI seem too likely. I've been taking my Zenpep basically right before the meals, but I have recently started to take them as I eat. Can't say I've seen too much improvement, however. I also increased... -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency

Thank you for the response and the suggestions. I am actually taking 500 mg of Magnesium a day right now, and have been for months. I think the muscle weakness is maybe some other electrolyte, like potassium or calcium. Either way, I still seem to be very easily fatigued, the degree of which varies based on how much or how fatty my BMs are... Sometimes I... -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency

Thank you for the response... I am a 23 year old male, should have mentioned that! It's great to talk to someone who is going through something similar. I actually have referenced that thread several times, it's very helpful, thank you for posting all of that research. My vitamin D absolutely plummets if I neglect to supplement, but my levels have been good... -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency

Hi, I realize this is a late response, but I just saw your post. I am currently taking Zenpep myself, as I was confirmed to not be absorbing fat with a stool test back in late July. I have been taking Zenpep for about 4 months. I have been having a ton of trouble putting on any weight whatsoever, but it seems that over the past couple weeks I have gained... -
Would recommend this, it's in pittsburgh: Open Original Shared Link

Hi all, I have been having a hell of a time over the past year or so, despite being on a gluten-free diet. Does anyone know of any celiac specialists in western Oregon? (I live near Portland). If not, does anyone know of any celiac disease centers / specialists that offer phone consultations? Thanks, look forward to hearing what you have to offer

ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet?

Hi, I just stumbled upon this post, and I am actually considering doing it as well, might be starting the soup today. Curious how you are doing so far on it? -
Joint Popping And Muscle Twitching?
pghkid33 replied to spirit-walk's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have had muscle twitching, seems to coincide with my bowel issues / malabsorption when it happens. Most likely a vitamin or mineral deficiency, for me I am thinking it might be potassium because I have ended up in the hospital with low potassium a few times and no other deficiencies have ever shown up on blood tests. -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency

Ahh thank you, pretty informative document. Looks like the starting dose for adults is 40,000 per meal... I'm only taking 10,000 per meal right now, just 1/4 of the starting dose. Been pretty sick this morning so have been discouraged, but looks like I have a long way to go to even get close to the starting dose. Not sure why the doc started me on such a... -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency
pghkid33 replied to pghkid33's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Pancrelipase is a mixture of all 3 of those enzymes from what I understand. Was looking for the total units of pancrelipase (commonly known as Creon), not just lipase units. -
ARCHIVED Pancreatic Insufficiency

Thank you for the reply. No clue if I am low on Iodine, but I have been eating seaweed to ensure I get enough in my diet. The issues didn't start after I started the HCL, I started HCl as a trial to see if it would help. Hasn't worsened anything, but hasn't really helped either. Doc told me to continue with both the HCL and the enzymes. Can I ask what dose... -
Hello all, So I have been having some horrible issues over the past 8 months or so. Basically, I have been having loose stools, hand tremors, serious weakness / fatigue etc. that has prevented me from working since December. I've also ended up in the hospital several times with low potassium (3.0 usually). I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in late...

Yeah, I didn't quite understand what he was going for there either. I only agree with it in that my body seems to want to dispose of everything!
-
Thx man, I'm going to see what this doc says just b/c he was recommended to me by a couple of people who have celiac disease. But overall, you're right, they don't know jack, and it's pretty damn frustrating to be told again and again that you are a headcase. Makes one feel like an idiot, so in some ways you become worse off than you were going in to the...

Thank you for this. I did the electrodermal test a few weeks ago, and I remember feeling pretty ripped-off / duped. I regret paying for the damn mediator release test now too. All of it seems to be a scam, with false science, sadly. I felt desperate at the time and just wanted an answer, but it's clear that it wasn't the answer. I guess I just don't know...

Thanks all for support. I will look into grain brain, although I am very skeptical of those books, there are a million of them and they all claim to support the "right" diet. As of now, I am grain-free (including quinoa) and dairy-free. I have had a food intolerance test done, called the Mediator Release Test. I am very skeptical of this too. Anyone heard...

IrishHeart - Very interesting, indeed. thank you, I will check this out. I've actually had several people mention this to me, and I have about 8 of the 12 symptoms listed there. I will say that grain-free seems to alleviate the itching a good deal, and makes me a bit less foggy in general. Thing is, I was grain-free for about a month or so before (still eating...

Yup, my antibodies were completely within normal range. I will definitely look into a second opinion. It just seems that everything is linked to my gastro symptoms - direct correlation between those and other neuro symptoms. I've also had bouts of itchy skin and some flushing going on, which makes me think it has to be something dietary causing all of this...

IrishHeart - Thank you, I will look into seeing a neurologist. I did fail to mention that I had a CT scan done last summer, when I started feeling "off" (dizziness, fogginess), and it came up clear. Something would've shown up at that point since I was symptomatic, right? achill - I've been soy-free for about 2 months now

Hi all, I was diagnosed with Celiac back in the summer of 2011 (my symptoms were mostly neuro), and I had been doing pretty decently on the gluten-free diet. Over the past 9 months or so, however, I have had more issues. I've done a couple of posts about them if you want to read further (didn't want to make this one that long). Basically, I have been...
