  1. Yes, the skin does indeed appear to be "thicker". Perhaps some minor form of inflamation; I don't know. The cracks usually start to appear along the existing pattern within my fingerprint - sometimes on one finger; other times on multiple fingers. I am have goldfish/koi ponds at my house (as a hobby), and often develop these cracks after I've spend a...
  2. Thanks!
  3. I am prone to get little cracks on my fingers from time to time, often getting red, slightly inflamed, and sometimes even bleeding. Eventually it goes away, and I usually apply aquaphor as a moisturizer. I have often thought this was due to either washing my hand too much, or drinking too much coffee (which I have since eliminated). It seems more prevalent...
  4. I'm not a doctor, but I do believe the latter is correct. When I was diagnosed (about 12 years ago) I had bloodwork (celiac panel - endomysial IGA antibody) done which came back positive. Next my gastroenterologist scheduled me for an endoscopy, which revealed flattening in my stomach and duodenum. Biopsies are also taken which are used in the overall...
  5. So what do you do (or can you do) to manage any symptoms you are having? I am definitely going to ask my doctor to do the blood test for this.
  6. Is there a way (icon I can use or create to) watch and manage the topics I create within individual forums? On the login page I can track and follow forums, but I don't see any similar option for one's topics. Thanks.
  7. I am trying to locate a former gastroenterologist I used to see in the Newark, DE area - Dr. Bernard Haimowitz (formerly of Gastroenterology Associates). Is anybody seeing him, or knows where I might contact him?
  8. Thanks for the encouraging thoughts and advice. I appreciate your feedback.
  9. I'm no expert (gastroenterologist), but I was told: "Once a celiac, always a celiac". Perhaps your husbands were exacerbated by multiple conditions - inclusive of celiac disease. The great thing about celiac disease is that it is TOTALLY managed by diet. No medication is necessary. As some of the others have posted, it is highly likely that your husband...
  10. Hey there folks, In addition to some other problems I have been having recently with joint/bone inflamation & pain (very prounounced in my right foot and palms of my hands) as well as dryness/soreness in my eyes I am left wondering about caffeine. I am 41, have been gluten-free now for about 15 years, and believe I have been managing my gluten...
  11. Thanks for the glucosamine suggestion. I was actually thinking about this and will try it out in consultation with my doctor. Yes, the cracking is simply turning my head or stretching my back. It seems as if my entire body cracks at times!!! I'm alwasy told this is "normal" - just the senovial fluid moving around. I think it is abnormal... guess that...
  12. No longer on the antiinflamatories. Was taking Oxaprozin (Daypro) 1200mg. for about three weeks; then switched to Lodine for about 2 weeks; then was put on oral steriods for two weeks; and finally back on Oxaprozin for another two months. I finally complained about stomach pain and stopped taking the meds altogether! I'll ask my doctors about the salicylates...
  13. Wow, I'm not alone. It is so easy to feel as if you're the only one on Earth with these symptoms. I will definitely look into the BioSil, and was actually already wondering about glucosamine as well. Would you be able to e-mail me more information (or a picture of) the BioSil? I will also look at the chelated manganese and zinc. Thanks so much for...
  14. I saw a rheumatologist about 5 years ago when I had my back MRIs and herniated disc diagnosis. I was actually thinking about paying him another visit... I will definitely discuss the blood test for Sjorgen's Syndrome - no brianer! I was already tested for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and gaut, and don't have either. My podiatrist wants to do a cortizone...
  15. I am a 41 y.o. male and have been diagnosed with Celiac for about 15 years now. I seem to be managing my diet pretty well, evidenced by negative blood tests and biopsies. I do have osteopenia, and am taking 1000 mg. of calcium with vit. D daily in addition to a GNC vitamin (Ultra Mega Gold without Iron). I also was diagnosed 6 years ago with three mild...
