  1. I have been wondering for a while and havent been able to find the answer anywhere: if one is predisposed to celiac disease, is damage being done before symptoms are present or does the damage to the small intestine begin once symptoms occur? For example: I ate gluten normally for 20 years and was then exposed to my trigger event, only after did I have...
  2. ive been drinking silk almond milk for maybe a year now. never had a problem with it, i love it!
  3. Hi everyone! I have been taking Culturelle probiotics ever since I was diagnosed. I recently came across a $10 off coupon for Align probiotics, and having to eat gluten free I'll take any coupon I can get : ) I was just wondering if anyone has taken both brands, and if they differ at all? I don't have any problems with Culturelle, and I don't want to...
  4. Chipotle's is awesome for gluten free food (you have to get the bowl), and they have vegetarian options as well. I think they have many locations all over the country. It is one of my favorite go-to restaurants.
  5. i use Tom's toothpaste. it is all natural and gluten free. i really like it
  6. i always go to mellow mushroom for gluten free pizza! i have been to several locations, and i have never had a problem with cross contamination or anything really. the crust is awesome, and actually crispy and doesnt fall apart. i would definitely recommend it!
  7. Chic-fil-a has gluten free fries! They have separate fryers for breaded chicken. Love those fries : )
  8. Yes, I did some research and read a few research articles on the interaction of DPP-IV and ASP. The results looked promising... maybe But thanks for the info! Sounds like the extra enzymes cant hurt.
  9. Hmm, thanks everyone for your replies! I think I am probably just going to stick with my usual digestive enzymes, and not go with the "gluten specific" ones. Symptoms give me another incentive to avoid gluten at all costs anyways
  10. well, at least it sounds promising!
  11. ok, thanks for breaking it down like that. yeah, i guess digesting gluten and reacting to gluten are two totally different things haha. i do take a pretty heavy duty digestive enzyme with my meals already, so im not sure how much this one would help on top of those...
  12. I was thinking about purchasing the Vitacost Gluten Enzyme DG Biocore DPP IV. The link to the product is here: Open Original Shared Link I am thinking taking these enzymes would help limit my reaction from hidden gluten or cross-contamination when I eat out at restaurants. Before buying them, I was wondering if anyone had any experience using them, or a...
  13. Thank you everyone for your input, you have helped so much! I am going to take the probiotics 2 hours after the antibiotics (I am taking the anti's at 12:30 pm/am and staying up until 2:30 am is late enough for me haha), and we will see if that helps. And I will definitely try the banana too, great idea!
  14. What I have done is just cut a lot of sugar out of my diet, especially refined sugar. That has seemed to help my bloating so much! Also, stress was a huge factor. Unfortunately, the digestive tract is connected to the nervous system and when we get stressed our intestines and stomach take a hit. I dont think there is one finite answer to our problems, we...
  15. So, I was started on antibiotics for a bacterial infection yesterday. I was unhappy to learn that I needed to go on antibiotics because, as we all know, they kill the good bacteria that us celiacs have worked so hard to build up in our intestines. I usually take one Culturelle a day, but with the antibiotic I have decided to take two probiotic pills a day...
  16. I take Culturelle once a day. It is dairy and gluten free, and I have never had any problems with it. I would definitely recommend it!
  17. when i get glutened my feet and legs tingle, i get a headache, brain fog, and i am so tired. no gut symptoms. celiac is weird, it is also different for everyone. you just have to figure out your own warning signs, then take it easy until you recover.
  18. i know, i have no idea why after we have been feeling great for so long that now it is starting all over again. i went to my doctor yesterday about my bloating symptoms, and he had no idea. ughh, guess we have to do it on our own. but yes, i have found berries and bananas to be ok. also i think citrus fruits are ok too. and spinach, i eat a lot of that haha...
  19. hey guys. i have been gluten free for almost 9 months now. the first 7 months i felt great, but for the past 2 months i have seemed to have hit a wall. i have been bloated every single day; totally flat in the morning and then as i eat i get bigger and bigger through out the day. i am assuming it is all due to bloating in my intestines, as i only get big...
  20. thanks for the tips everyone! and I have been taking digestive enzymes with ever meal; they do seem to help somewhat, until dinner rolls around and I get huge again. I am in my last week of the semester at college, so spare time is a rare thing. but I think once I am done with school for the summer I will have more time to figure out exactly what foods are...
  21. Hey everyone! So, I have been gluten free for 8 months, and for 6 and a half of those months I have felt great. The last month and a half has been full of gas and bloating constantly. I have been keeping a food diary and I think I am having a problem with fructose (I already do not eat dairy). I am just feeling so overwhelmed with this new intolerance, meaning...
  22. I contacted the company and they said the only gluten free products they make are the Nut Crunch bars, which are labeled gluten free. I did happen to eat some of the new protein bars, before I contacted the company, and I got sick. I wouldnt risk it.
  23. haha thanks for the tips everyone! yeah, i guess ill steer clear of Mike's. ill just have to be more creative with my mixed drinks then : )
  24. I was wondering everyone's opinion on Mike's Hard Lemonade saying that their "lite" version is gluten free? They say it is filtered twice so that all of the malt is removed and they have been tested for under 5ppm. I have tried them and only after I drank about 3 or 4 (all in separate sittings) did they give me a stomach ache. It is hard to believe that there...
  25. thanks so much! eating them now
