  1. I have been gluten-free since Sept. 2011 and on the 4th of July 2012 I cheated for the first time and ate some homemade cake I made for a potluck. (Not gluten-free cake.) I am soooooo regreting this! 3 days after the cake I came down with masssive back/neck pain, extreme migraine, belly bloat, blurred vision, and weakness/tiredness. It's been almost ...
  2. I'm glad this post helped you Granolagal! And AVR1962...thank you! Sonja
  3. I am actually amazed how much of a difference it has made to purposely eat alot of gluten. I've been feeling pretty gross... Your post made me chuckle...just the visual of binging on gluten on purpose. I hope the next week goes by fast for you so that you can get through the testing and then get back to feeling better! Good luck.
  4. Domesticactivist, Mushroom, Skylark, and StanleyMonkey, Thank you all for your input. It is wonderful to be able to ask a question, go about my day, and come home to all this wealth of info in your responses! Thank you, it helped me to make my gameplan on how to go about this. I will try to stick to whole foods and then in a month start challenging...
  5. Hello, I have now been wheat/gluten free and dairy free for two weeks. (No major changes yet.) My gastroenterologist suggested that I go dairy free for awhile as well as wheat/gluten free. Wheat/gluten free has been fairly easy for me. The hardest part of my diet is the dairy part!! Many gluten-free products that I would like to have contain...
  6. What about milk? I have been wheat/gluten and dairy free for two weeks now. (Still not well but I'm not giving up.) I have all the same symptoms as you. My gastroenterologist had suggested I remove the dairy as well. Only problem is that if we get better, we won't know if it was the wheat/gluten or the dairy right off the bat. I read that many people...
  7. I used grapeseed oil in cakes and breads...that was when I was not gluten-free. But boy oh boy did that oil make the goodies taste better.
  8. Thank you! I just had my blood drawn again today and all the tests mentioned above are being tested for. Quest Diagnostics is running the tests. Oh, I hope and pray for an answer to all of this. It's been such a long road! Celiac would make sense and wrap all my many ailments into one cause. Well thanks to all of you again. Sonja
  9. Hello, I will be having additional tests for Celiac and I'd like to go to a different lab. (First time was Santa Ynez Cottage.) Is it true Quest Diagnostics is a good lab for these tests? Any other ones? Thanks! Sonja
  10. Hello Mushroom! I have another question for you. It turns out the doctor did order "Tissue Transglutam IgA". The result just came back from that...it took longer than the other test. The test was negative. I scored 6.1 and the range was [0.0-19.9]. Should I still get the other 3 tests you've mentioned? Thanks again!
  11. Ooops, I wrote a whole long paper on my symptoms and it dissapeared! Well, I'll see if it ends up posting. If it posts, then I'll finish it up. ~Sonja
  12. Hello "Mushroom", Doctor wrote "Serum IgA" on the lab order. I had the test done. On the results, the name of the test just says "Immunoglobulin A". The result to that one test is 194. The range is [63-498 mg.dL]. So I take it I should now have the tests you listed above done. I hope I got it right! Thanks again.
  13. Hello Roda, Thank you for your response! Well, the one test he did order was the "Serum IgA". On the test results it says "Immunoglobulin A". That one was negative. Is this the same as the Total IgA you mentioned? Thanks again, Sonja
